  1. It's not the government's job to regulate what I put in my body. Legalize the stuff & people will just buy in their own neighborhoods at tax paying stores & brothels. The thuggery wil end. Tax revenue will climb. Police will be freed up to tackle more important issues. STDs will be more controllable. The dope dealers & prostitutes in OTR face death from their customers & competitors evey day. A short jail term is only an inconvenience for these people. PROHIBITION DOESN'T WORK
  2. jeez, Ink, that really takes the wind outta my sails. I live in Cinti. My parents, in Springfield, went to a company outing at Coney once.
  3. Who has final say in zoning ? The zoning board or the city council ? I was thinking it was like the Liquor board (state) where the city gives it's recommendation to the board. Is it the other way around with zoning ?
  4. Didn't get to the meeting - but saw the end on tv. Looks like Bortz, Cole, Crowley & Ghiz are all pretty much on board on this. Don't know how much they can do, though.

Mary Hartman Mary Hartman & Fernwood 2Night were in scenic Fernwood, Ohio. Martin Sheen's press secretary in The West Wing hailed from Dayton. She attended a high school reunion in one episode.
  6. 4,900 - 475,000 Looks like the cheap one needs to be torn down. It's got more character than the expensive one, tho. 45223 (central Cincinnati)

Harsh Realm (everybody's favorite !) had a whole episode in Cincinnati (not really) as well as one in Columbus. The Cinti episode was titled "Cincinnati". What ? You missed it ? :-)
  8. Those are some great shots. I really like the 4th one. I am a sucker for those overpass shots. If Cincinnati still has a film commission, they should add those shots to the portfolio. We could become the capitol of "post apocalypse" movies.
  9. I thkink Dayton has us both beat on a per capita basis but the stats always seem to be for metro areas & not actual cities.
  10. weird It looks like you are safer going east west than north south.
  11. per the elimination of the neighborhood police program, I thought the program was a good one. It made sense to me, but I know nothing of police work. :-) This article alludes to a Kansas study indicating police presence is not a big deterrennt to crime. http://tinyurl.com/743h8 or http://cincinnatilibertarian.blogspot.com/2005/12/throw-money-at-problem-and-crime.html
  12. Photoshop doesn't have a "Fix Reflections" button ?
  13. Is Camp Washington close enough ?
  14. Charlie's Dunlap is just north of the Dunlap lofts. Tucker's is 1400 block of Vine ? There is nowhere in OTR, or anywhere else I am starting to think, that your kid will not pick up some new words.
  15. For the last 20 years, I'm thinking it was pretty much The Taft.
  16. Tuckers Paula's & Mr Pig by the market Charlie's Dunlap Cafe is a bar, but during the day it is more of a lunch place. The table by the door is the no smoking section. :-) Dunno what their weekend hours are. They have fries ! and an impressive beer can collection

  18. I think there is plenty of parking in Cincinnati in the evenings and weekends. However, a lot of people do act like it's a big deal to walk 2 or 3 blocks. I think some people believe that walking one block is too far. I don't understand it myself. For example, people I encounter at work will complain about not having enough options for lunch. On the other hand, I think there are many great options for lunch. I have given out several recommendations of places that I think are good that are within 1 or 2 blocks of the building. People have told me that these places are too far for them to walk. You wind up walking at least that far at the mall. :-) I go out to eat in OTR at least once a week. Most of my co workers are convinced there is no place to eat there. Dunno what they think I am doing.
  19. Hey, Michael, now you are evil, too. http://blackcincinnati.blogspot.com/ Nate - rhymes with hate
  20. Mr Singer's latest book is called "Stepping Out in Cincinnati" published by Arcadia Publishing & is part of their "Images of America" series. I would be interested in a subway tour, too. I always seem to hear about them after they happen.
