Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
Although it doen't sound all that new to me... Police try new way to make Cincinnati's streets safer Six months ago, Cincinnati Police Chief Jeffrey Blackwell began a little experiment. He assigned two officers to walk a beat in Over-the-Rhine, focused on the bustling Gateway Quarter on Vine Street, and he gave them three objectives: Get to know everyone; make life better for area residents, businesses and visitors; and above all, stop the growing number of street robberies frightening people away from one of the city's economic engines. http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/crime/2014/05/20/police-try-quality-life-patrols/9361481/

I waited for the bus from 9:45-10:05 this morning, which is definitely longer than typical. Once they start picking up school kids, everything goes to Hades. As a tradesman I went in earlier than the brats, you could set your watch by the morning buses around 7AM afternoon... argh....

Is This How The End Begins?
I thought about posting this under Religion but then I realized this was a better place... Modern Paganism Reveals Storm Clouds Over Democracy A virulent reborn paganism is sweeping the West and unless strongly challenged, could topple representative, constitutional government. http://canadafreepress.com/index.php/article/63151

Cincinnati: Recycling News & Info
I don't know the capacity but it's the big lidded, wheeled grappling ready cans for both trash & recycling. The workers usually don't use the grappling trucks for the trash, tho & just pull the bags out of the trash can by hand leaving behind anything loose.

Bradley Kincaid, not a native Ohioan but settled here in the 50s? He introduced a lot of folks nationwide to bluegrass & folk. He played The Grand ol Opry. His music store in Springfield opened in 1955. While I bought it secondhand, that's where my TBird came from :-)

the bigger & faster the vehicle, the more predictable. Semis on highways are about the most likely to go a straight line, peds & cyclists, especially the slow ones, are the most unpredictable & least likely to maintain a straight line. Most people would probably think riding on a highway with a lot of trucks is the most frightening thing in the world but it's probably one of the safest places to ride. Flat on My Face by Lodestar, Springfield 1979 https://app.box.com/shared/ap1yf1u1i7 International Harvester/Navistar beinga big employer, the band's name came from one of their cabs, the Loadstar. The recording was produced by a band member's uncle, Jimmy Crain from Lima who worked on the Springfield police force after his musical career fizzled out. Jimmy recorded Shig a Shag around 1957. The Lodestar single was pressed by Rite Records in Cincinnati or Evendale or something...- Ohio Music
