  6. no, people get weird about empty seating. Even the symphony gripes about it at Music Hall. I don't get it.

So, apparently this guy is a media mogul & mayor of a town in Romania on the Black Sea. He staged this media spectacle where he got a bunch of models in bikinis to vote in an election, I think, to oust the president. Maybe something like this could get out more young voters in Cincinnati. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E53hwjr_R_o

  9. If you go to 1974
  10. An interesting contrast to today's opinions of bicycles & cars sharing the road. In the early 1970s, California was implementing a policy of forcing cyclists off the roadways onto bikeways, using the excuse that this would make cycling much safer, but actually, as events proved, with the intent of making motoring more convenient, regardless of the danger to cyclists. http://www.johnforester.com/Articles/Safety/Cross01.htm But nowadays it's the cyclists who want to abandon their rights to the road. https://medium.com/p/47528a053745 So what has changed in 40 years? Seems like a race to the bottom...
  11. Dewey's is in St Louis or maybe a suburb.
  12. The Northside Business Association owns 3 parking lots in the neighborhood. They just updated their payment system to an electronic system & are now selling monthly & annual parking passes.
  13. ALL their projects look the same...
  14. I am sure the Marxist anarchist wing wang contingent of Northside is already gnashing it's teeth over this. Where did you see the start date? It was tweeted by Oliver Kroner, the Northside Community Council President (according to his Twitter profile). LOL, yeah, he's the NCC president, I think his sister runs the Slurring Bee (Sleepy Bee?) and he also organizes the Northside kids soccer.
  15. exactly - he's insane FWIW - here's a FB event for the 4/21 2PM meeting. https://www.facebook.com/events/1472100056353781/?ref_newsfeed_story_type=regular
  16. Bonomini in Cincinnati is pretty good - a real go to place for wedding cakes, too. Of course all the bakeries in smaller towns got completely ignored....
  17. From what I hear, there is no City Council consensus to put up the match that the Feds will want to see to consider Cincinnati's application seriously. And the truth is, we're not ready to start building to Uptown. There is no champion, the large institutions there have not come to the table, and the route needs a lot of work. To me, it seems like the only thing Uptown cares about right now is the new I-71 interchange -- perhaps a bit of over-generalizing there. The city should apply to the Feds now for a planning grant, build stakeholder consensus and apply for construction money when it has perfected a plan. We're a long way from that today. The last streetcar meeting I watched, Murray seemed open to getting funding for exploration & planning for a phase 2 or 1B or pre-2 or whatever.

  19. Kinda sounds like smoke & mirrors, I'm sure Paul & Chabot will oppose it U.S. transportation chief: Money for Brent Spence could be found in freight plan “If states come together and show they’re being innovative, that they’re helping us fill gaps in our freight movement system, that grants will be awarded of a size that will encourage multiple states to come together to get scale out of those investments,” Foxx said. "So there’s not a line item for it, but there are categories within our proposal where it wouldn’t be too hard to imagine opportunities for a project like that to move forward.” http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/morning_call/2014/04/u-s-transportation-chief-money-for-brent-spence.html

yes, he's on Waycross now, I believe. altho I was just watching a committee meeting & when Slitherman's on, it's pretty much a show.
  21. If the railway has the cars elevated outside the windows of the church, I would call that blighting. I have no idea what the elevation would be - that's why I was asking if people had considered the issue. I used those stairs for years & caught the bus at the top on Clifton. Never ran into any intimidating people (well, one crazy chick at the NB bus stop). Hardly ever walked the steps alone, either. They seemed to get a good bit of use. If you manage to build up population, the steps would be in greater demand. I have been hassled by tenants of the apartments on the S side of Clifton. Couldn't care less for them. Dunno if the apartments are worth anything, tho. Probably have nice southern views.

Spoken like a true cult leader....
  23. John, did people discuss obliterating the steps & blighting the church? This is not a hostile question altho it might sound like it. Just being blunt.
