Favorite Music At The Moment?
Dear Lord that band is so boring. I'm sure if you lined up all of the lame bands over the year -- say Hootie & the Blowfish, etc. -- the guys in the band probably have some brothers who were actually way smarter, probably better artists or at least more astute critics, who were disgusted by the popularity of their brother's b.s. band. But the b.s. brother gets all the attention from their family and family friends, because they "made it". Never said I liked the band, but, yeah, the movie is about the brothers relationship & the guy in the band mentioned that his brother probably thought the music sucked. The roadie brother does seem to be channeling Chumley from Pawn Stars a bit.

Dayton: Random Development and News
Springfield seeking to add pocket parks As part of its effort to meet federal regulations on public storm sewer systems, the city of Springfield is working to convert vacant lots into pocket parks with rain gardens. http://www.cincinnati.com/story/news/crime/oh%20crime/2014/04/02/serial-burglar-sentenced-to-9-years/7218097/

Ohio Voting / Voter ID Law
Can Ohio, it's counties, townships & cities, require a minimum number of votes to make an election take effect? Say, 40% of registered voters need to show up or the old politicians stay in place. Eventually, people would have to show up & vote the old guys out or they could just stay home if they thought everything was hunky dory (and hope everybody else would do the same).

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I was riding across & along some of the finished tracks for the first yesterday. It is SOOO much nicer than the old abandoned tracks I had to contend with as a kid up in Springfield.

I knew a guy who did a lot of Flash work & he made up a Flash file that looked like a co-workers desktop but set up the icons to move away from the cursor as it got near.

Cincinnati: Eastern Corridor
In the 80s it was a traffic nightmare when the trains crossed Paxton. There's more traffic there now, I can't imagine it. I thought my nephew was going to have a stroke when I told him folks were talking about reintroducing rail service there.

Cranley has caved to the all powerful bike lobby..... My only problem with the bike trail idea is that it's just more recreation infrastructure to maintain. How many swimming pools will this cost? Where's the money going to come from for something that will see no return on the investment? heh - pit the cyclists against the swimmers.....

Cincinnati: Oakley: Oakley Station
I have been to the Target on Colerain a number of times & have seen next to nobody in the grocery section. They do have a number of odd items nobody else has. But that's probably because.... auto correct wanted to make the grocery section the groovy section. :-)

A New - Old Kind of Playground
This makes me think of a Lord of the Flies theme park A preoccupation with safety has stripped childhood of independence, risk taking, and discovery—without making it safer. A new kind of playground points to a better solution. The ground is muddy in spots and, at one end, slopes down steeply to a creek where a big, faded plastic boat that most people would have thrown away is wedged into the bank. The center of the playground is dominated by a high pile of tires that is growing ever smaller as a redheaded girl and her friend roll them down the hill and into the creek. “Why are you rolling tires into the water?” my son asks. “Because we are,” the girl replies. It’s still morning, but someone has already started a fire in the tin drum in the corner... http://www.theatlantic.com/features/archive/2014/03/hey-parents-leave-those-kids-alone/358631/

That's okay, I had to use it to know what the Goldbergs even are. I pretty much refuse to watch anything with a "laugh track" these days. The intelligence insult has always been a pet peeve, moreso lately for some reason. Though as it is, the only regular show (pun intended) I seem to watch is The Blacklist, and I'm two episodes behind. woah, Parminder Nagra is in the Blacklist bah, it's not on DVD or Netflix yet....
