  1. Cranley definitely has a poor record on this. cool on the sigs, tho.
  2. What? You think the FOP president might get hauled out screaming & cursing or Tom Luken will stage a sit in? People might make throat slashing gestures or Smitherman might attack someone? Or maybe a CO er will think someone is standing too close and freak out? nah...
  3. So the people in charge of keeping track of county records couldn't keep the domain name up to date... http://courtclerk.org/ http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20131216/NEWS0107/312160068/Clerk-Courts-website-crash-causes-attorneys-angst?nclick_check=1

more on this “Mr. Finney is probably the most well-recognized opponent of any type of economic development effort” in Greater Cincinnati, Donnellon said. “When somebody comes to me with an economic development request, it has to make sense to me. (On this one), I couldn’t figure it out. “If he’s not directly affiliated with the Clermont Liberty PAC, he is at least like-minded,” Donnellon said of Finney. “And the majority of voters in this past election in our township voted overwhelmingly for (tea party) candidates. The single issue they campaigned on was opposition to economic development.” Donnellon and McGee, both supporters of job creation through economic development incentives, lost their bids for re-election on Nov. 5 to Lloyd Acres and John McGraw. Acres and McGraw were endorsed by the Liberty PAC, which stated in an October newsletter that it opposes tax-payer funded economic development initiatives. http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2013/12/16/trustee-concerned-about-tax-break-for.html
  5. And they're going to be dealing with this for 4 years. I think Sittenfeld said, "there will be scars".
  6. A few years back, I stopped calling it "car culture" and started calling it "automobile addiction." There's a difference between owning a car, loving a car, and being addicted to a car. There are people who honestly believe that they would not be able to live without a car, and they are willing to sacrifice so much to retain ownership of their personal vehicle. They are willing to harm themselves physically and financially to keep this ideal. These are classic signs of addiction, but its not popularly recognized because the sheer volume of people who are addicted. I'm not sure this is directly related to the streetcar in any way, but my point is that we need leaders who are willing to move beyond populism and help us see the alternatives to life in a car. It's not an addiction. It's just a cultural paradigm...the way people see the world. nope, it's an addiction

Thanks Don, I have a minister friend who is really into brawls, he'll love this. yeah, I know it's weird. He's into serial killers, too.
  9. Charter Committee finally speaks up (with a new president) http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20131216/EDIT02/312160051/OPINION-Streetcar-should-bring-long-term-benefits
  10. The we demand a vote, let the people vote crew really likes the county agency that restricts people's right to vote.
  11. Well, they need to keep the BOE in a central location accessible by transit. Same goes for the court house. Who cares where the coroner is...
  12. Are they going to release the audit to the public or will public comment be limited to guessing?
  13. Folks were doing this in Tom Luken's place. Apparently Luken lobbied against the project at the condo members meeting of course.

I love the wooded hillsides surrounding DT Porktown in the winter. This isn't mine. Think it's from the 70s from the cars.
  16. Ran across this this evening. From Springfield, OH, 1932
  17. CO has said they really like Findlay Market for collecting signatures.
  18. And when international businesses look to invest in the US, they will think of this unstable political environment when considering Cincinnati. But what the heck, CO and the NA CP has been trashing that for years. Cranley is just the last nail in the coffin.
  19. Laughing stock of the nation? I highly doubt that. Up here in NEO, if 1 out of 10 people even knew that Cincy was building a streetcar, I would be highly surprised. It's a huge local issue, for sure. But nobody around the nation - save for the train geeks (sorry, KJP) - is paying much attention. I posted earlier that bondbuyer.com was looking at the issue. probably not optimistically, either.
  20. Feds told Cranky he's got 2 years to come up with operating funds & to quit being a drama queen. I imagine he's getting an earful from other mayors on his little tax payer funded vacation in DC, too.
  21. Dunno if he develops downtown but his work in Mariemont & Hyde Park dispels the myth that the only supporters are those invested along the route.
  22. from the, 'but Cranley said' dept... http://cincinnati.com/blogs/politics/2013/12/13/cranley-and-other-new-mayors-to-meet-with-obama-friday/
  23. Dohoney in running for Dallas post. http://www.dallasnews.com/news/metro/20131211-5-in-running-to-be-dallas-manager-include-a.c.-gonzalez-leaders-from-cincinnati-oakland-raleigh.ece
  24. back around, I don't know, page 453?, Mallory instructed Dohoney to find operating funds that would not affect any other city services & Dohoney did that with casino revenue & parking revenue, etc. Now it appears that is gone or never existed. Did I miss something? Was I dreaming?
  25. per Cranky's press conference: man, this guy is useless...
