Biz Courier discusses merits of property owners' lawsuits http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/morning_call/2013/11/if-property-owners-and-businesses-sue.html?page=all It will be difficult for those property owners to make their case, but there’s legal concepts they can use to try to make their claim. Those property owners' case rests within the confines of two common law concepts: "Reliance-based claims" and "third party beneficiary claims."

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
The new police chief ramps up visibility. The hats in crowds thing just seemed really obvious to me. I think it's interesting Cranley hasn't met with the chief yet even tho he was really hot on hiring 200 more officers (the Warp backpedals on that). http://news.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artikkel?NoCache=1&Dato=20131120&Kategori=NEWS01&Lopenr=311200047&Ref=AR

Sadly, we are seeing more of this as newly elected officials come to office. It used to be that a newly elected official, even if he/she disagreed with the policies or actions of his predecessors did not seek to undo them. They may have sought to "improve" or "refine" those actions, but they didn't tear down the house after moving into it. A lack of continuity is a mild way of saying "political instability" which is what we're really talking about here. This country was a good investment for businesses because of its stability. A recent small business survey found a major reason smalls aren't investing, expanding or hiring is due to uncertainty about the government. That's national - these local clowns will just magnify the problem here and it's a lot easier to aboid Cincinnati than the USA.

Ohio Voting / Voter ID Law
Hamilton County looks at moving the BOE offices to Mt Airy hospital. Being off all the main bus routes should make early voting fairly impossible for a lot of voters... http://cincinnati.com/blogs/politics/2013/11/19/board-of-elections-to-mount-airy-maybe/

Cincinnati Enquirer
Per the latest streetcar v. weird lookin' bus debate at the Fishwarp, The majority of comments at cincinnati.com are pro streetcar. The votes on their goofy 'interactive' poll are overwhelmingly pro streetcar. But the comments on their FaceBook page are almost exclusively pro weird lookin' bus. Wonder how the brass sees this?

ok, I know this another dumba$$ list ranking of cities article but it points up the value of the streetcar to attract retiring boomers to the basin. The article discusses amenities seniors want, including walkability, sports, arts, continuing education, healthcare, etc. Add to that, the appeal of the modern design to people with mobility problems and the ability to chuck the car & use that money on other things... bleep Cranley & his 'kids' BS - the streetcar can attract seniors for decades. It can help boost the local funeral industry for Pete's sake... I can't believe people would squander this opportunity... http://livability.com/top-10/top-10-best-places-retire-2013/cincinnati/oh
