Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
Berns is complaining that the local media is killing his campaign chances. Says they should be applauding his courage. It's interesting - in 2 policy polls the Fishwarp did, Noble scored better than Berns. http://cincinnati.com/blogs/politics/2013/08/21/berns-my-campaigns-dying-in-the-street-media-to-blame/

Favorite Music At The Moment?
I have heard Rundgren talk about that 70s punk/new wave scene. He wasn't playing with those bands but he was definitely listening to them & making "the scene".

Ohio's 1st Congressional District
Ohio congressman urges help for zoo's rhino effort Rep. Steve Chabot, R-Cincinnati, who chairs the House subcommittee on Asia and the Pacific, recently wrote a letter with other House members to the Indonesian government asking that rhinos be shipped here for the Cincinnati Zoo's breeding program. The zoo has said it will try to mate its two rhinos in an effort to revitalize its captive breeding program, but they are brother and sister and the zoo would prefer to have rhinos from Indonesia for more genetic diversity. http://www.sfgate.com/news/science/article/Ohio-congressman-urges-help-for-zoo-s-rhino-effort-4744109.php

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
When I was growing up I was always told that the socialists & commies & the pinko Democrats would create a bland & soulless environment whereas the good conservative traditionalist Republicans would build a grand and beautiful environment. Ayn Rand seemed to think so. Nowadays it's the neoconservative convenient libertarian Republicans pushing for the drab spartan environment proposed previously by the commies. It is interesting.

State cuts cost local governments millions
"A Springfield News-Sun survey of more than 20 localities found they expect to lose more than $28 million this year compared to what they received in 2009 because of cuts in state aid and the phasing out of three taxes. As a result, Springfield has cut 32 positions in recent years; Trotwood has furloughed workers; Troy cut back of street resurfacing; and Kettering delayed capital improvement projects, dipping into its reserves to fund the projects it deems a priority." http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/news/state-cuts-cost-local-governments-millions/nZRHX/

Greater Cincinnati Metro (SORTA) and TANK News & Discussion
When the bus gets ahead of schedule the driver will stop at a bus stop to let time catch up. But, people get on the wrong bus, sleep through their stop & such all the time. No big deal.

Didn't they quit selling quarts & 40s at the gas station on Liberty? You could still get 6 & 12 packs of beer.

Cincinnati's West End - extraordinary & endangered
It appears to be several buildings globbed together. Do you know if you can actually walk through from Central Parkway to McMicken? I'm assuming you can. One of the fires was when it was a used office furniture store/warehouse. I believe there was a restaurant in there somewhere in the 60s/70s.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
There's been a rash of counterfeit $20 bills spotted in College Hill, Northside & Clifton. Adult white tattooed males & black teenage boys.

Cincinnati's West End - extraordinary & endangered
Commuting past the Mockbee complex on McMicken over the years, I have lost track of the number of fires in that building. With OTR pricing going up, hopefully these areas between OTR & Northside see more investment.
