  2. The guy who got beat to a pulp by bored teenagers in North College Hill has expired. No details - an autopsy will be performed to see if it is related to the attack. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20130712/NEWS/307120191/North-College-Hill-bored-beating-victim-dies

double date? But David, weren't you earlier complaining about the chick getting all clingy with you because you were some kind of badass 50s cool cat or something? Now you're getting whiny & jealous? which way is it - or are you actually the friend?
  7. Anybody have a link to the "doctored picture of armed black people riding a smashed-up streetcar labeled 'Cincinnati trolley'"
  8. This could almost get me to golf "Later this month the Windy Knoll Golf Club in Springfield plans to become the first course in the U.S. to {use} two Neoteric Golf hovercrafts for use as golf carts." http://www.bizjournals.com/dayton/blog/morning_call/2013/07/local-golf-course-to-offer-hovercraft.html?ana=e_day_rdup&s=newsletter&ed=2013-07-10&u=pSqExZKEC4SO1qd+r7QXPVws/Ln&t=1373463561

right right right now - this very instant.....
  14. "The city of Springfield is considering creating a registration and inspection program for vacant houses to deter crime, improve safety and decrease blight in neighborhoods. But at least two city commissioners have concerns with the proposal, calling it intrusive and difficult to enforce." http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/news/local-govt-politics/springfield-considers-vacant-property-registry/nWQYw/
  15. The meteor in Russia - which house would that be?
  16. ^exactly dunno why the news is acting like it's something new well, yeah, I do know why.....
  17. Does anybody think the bids are out of line? Is Cincinnati really asking for the moon?
  18. Here's the report I was babbling about by Weyrich AND Lind. Unfortunately it's from 2002 so I am sure prices should be higher. Anyway, they say $10M/mile http://www.apta.com/resources/reportsandpublications/Documents/weyrich-streetcars.pdf
  19. what LIG said & I have heard P&B tends to be fairly overpriced. I also remember reading an article by Lind or Weyerich that discussed what streetcar installation should cost & Cincinnati was at the high end of the range. Now Qualls appears to be running in circles - heck, she was the one who demanded the segment up to Clifton....
  20. ^I think I heard he might be looking at AG. I swear I heard Noble was running for mayor, which would explain why Cranley & Qualls haven't officially declared yet - with Noble in the running neither would stand a chance.
  21. From the Biz Courier Cincinnati might scrap streetcar track bids, start over All three bids received last Friday came in much higher than the city’s estimate of $44.6 million. The lowest bid, from a joint venture of Messer Construction Co., Prus and Delta Railroad came in at $70.9 million. The high bid, from a joint venture between Atlas and Kokosing, came in at more than $87.5 million. That means the lowest bid is more than $26 million higher than the city estimated. http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2013/02/14/cincinnati-might-scrap-streetcar-track.html
  22. Frankly, I think he's one of the best in town. He was laid off from City Bleat after a takeover by a Nashville company. I expected the new owners would completely ignore local political crap, but they have not. It's not as good/in depth as what Osborne did, but essentially, it's an entertainment paper so..... His new corporate masters would do well to give him a lot of room.
  23. FWIW, I was reading somewhere that concrete prices are projected to rise in 2013, so there could easily be a rise in cost from what was estimated a couple years ago. Nobody's fault but I am sure people will wail & wag their fingers at CITY CLOWNSEL!
  24. I thought Sandra Queen Noble was going to run. The article ignored Berns who is the only real candidate at this point.

http://www.liveleak.com/view?i=389_1360330426 "What's that? You're worried about a little snow falling on your head? How adorable. Meanwhile, in Brazil, it's raining spiders. Footage posted online yesterday shows thousands of spiders "falling from the sky" in the southern Brazilian town of Santo Antônio da Platina. "Still do not know what causes such behavior," writes the video's uploader. "We are researching and will post the answer to the question here."" http://gawker.com/5982891/meanwhile-in-brazil-its-raining-spiders?post=57193617
