Trying to operate with half the complement of vehicles is really screwing up Portland's system right now. Do they still have large vacant areas? I'm thinking that since we're loking a 0% ridership currently, we could start up with maybe 1 or 2 cars. 1 would be dicey, tho because a motorist is sure to ram one of these suckers within 6 weeks of operation. bloody streetcars.....

As one of the things that might hold up the project might be the manufacture of the vehicles - is the city figuring on starting up with a full fleet or just 1 or 2 cars?

Kentuckians shouldn't have to pay for streetcar "Just heard that Duke Energy wants to raise the electric rates by 24 percent and the gas rates by 18 percent, and this increase will also cover the Cincinnati streetcar." http://cincinnati.com/blogs/letters/2013/01/28/kentuckians-shouldnt-have-to-pay-for-streetcar/

Ohio Cities' Downtown Population
I don't exactly know what you're trying to find here but I think I would only go back to 1970. There were changes taking place after WWII but those changes were pretty much done by 1970 & the people calling the shots shifted from one generation to another about that time. That group is on the way out & should be done around 2020 but an extrapolation that only goes out 7 years seems kinda pointless. Going out to 2030 seems to make more sense & will show the direction of the newer decision/trend makers. but waht do I know?

Medieval Ohio
Seems like Bellefontaine would qualify for 'The Highlands' or something. Love to see an arcing 'Barbarians' across the bottom just below the Ohio River.

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
Libertarian Jim Berns has filed his signatures. In this clip from WLWT, I particularly like the guys flanking Berns in the interview section. yeah, I know it's cold out, but.... also notice in the end, how much bigger Cranley's head is than Qualls' That's a propaganda technique but I'm guessing it's just laziness on the graphics department here. http://www.wlwt.com/news/local-news/cincinnati/Jim-Berns-files-paperwork-to-run-for-mayor/-/13549970/18246496/-/khgmt1z/-/index.html

Who raises prices 24% besides insurance companies? They are asking for so much in the hopes PUCO gives them less. They should get nothing simply for being turds. Anyway, this is probably why they have ceased returning calls. They will wait till a decision is made & then come up with some other issue.

Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
Anybody know of any interior shots of these 2 developments? I am not even finding a website for Incline Village. (I have the cheesy Stetson Sq music jangling in my head now) I like the weeds in the steps at Cranley's place.

I have used the airport bus a few times. It is not a normal bus. It has nicer seats. They play some kind of TV stuff. The stop at the airport is kinda sucky in inclement weather. It's mainly used by airport employees. I don't know if I ever saw another flyer on the thing.- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Dear lord, that place is in the middle of nowhere & requires a half mile walk down a street with no sidewalks to get to a bus stop. a warehouse under a rug To be fair, it might be less stressful for blind people to live in a less-busy environment. I don't know any blind people, so I wouldn't know. But I could imagine being able to walk a decent distance without concern for getting run over might trump typical accessibility concerns. Not that walking paths and transit access are mutually exclusive. 8th is right, this is starting to go off topic but then mass transit & the disabled is an issue. Anyway, I hope you never find yourself disabled, but trust me, if you ever are, you will _not_ want to be put out to pasture or coddled.- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News

boring but, hey, it's Springfield history- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Unfortunately, AFAIK, the materials for the blind have been shipped off to Clevo. I guess the mail order library business made more sense to the pinks so they consolidated in one place. It certainly didn't sit well with the local blind population. I did a post on it but, being an idiot I didn't provide a link. Well, the Fishwarp would have moved the article anyway. http://quimbob.blogspot.com/2009/03/on-march-19-1901-sisters-florence-and.html But I think your arguments apply to the large aging boomer population just fine. Make it a senior center.- Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Interestingly, that building had very few windows... On the other hand, the Cincinnati Association for the Blind has a parking lot & a huge sign.- Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
^Actually Qualls fights against boring infill type stuff but it's private investment (for the most part) and she is not, as some people paint her out to be, an overbearing commie tyrant. She's fairly serious about personal property rights. I could say build your own but I understand few people can - it takes $$$$$. Qualls understands that. I'm sure Cranley & Hartman will have much grander visions.- Modern Roundabouts in Ohio
Deadly intersection will get roundabout Clark County could get Ohio’s first high speed approach roundabout. "Officials have tried since the 1970s to reduce accidents at the Pike Twp. intersection of Ohio 235 and 41. The new plan is to build the first roundabout in Clark County and likely the first in the state where the speed limit is 55 mph on all four sides." http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/news/transportation/deadly-intersection-will-get-roundabout/nTybb/ - Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
