jmeck frequently talks like he is the final arbiter of musical taste and sophistication. White Zombie is rather base and unsophisticated IMO. From what I've read, Meck DOES know music and base & unsophisticated is just part of the mix. Dunno if anybody is following the BS on the Twins of Evil Tour but Marilyn Manson & Rob Zombie are getting a little PO'd at each other with Mary threatening to kick Rob's ass & Rob cussing out Mary from the stage. Almost makes me want to go to a show.....

So, is the chick a bar hound? Nobody's mentioning nearby churches..... Anyway, you can buy in Northside for less than rent. Here's 1 for $133/month. Unlimited pets, probably room for a small garden. Near bus lines. Doesn't look like there's any parking, tho. http://www.cbws.com/property/details/128379/MLS-1332780/3911-Apple-St-Cincinnati-Northside-OH-45223.aspx

I would recommend adding Northside to the white list. There's offers for rentals online thru the message board & thru the weekly enewsletter @ http://www.northside.net easy drive, bus, bike to UC. Probably a little more neighborlyish than some of the areas you listed. Probably cheaper, too.
  8. and the LTEs sheesh
  9. A Tea Party-linked group attempted to get officials in 14 Ohio counties, including Montgomery and Butler, to remove at least 1,800 people from the voter registration rolls in the last few months, but found their efforts mostly thwarted by errors in their work, lack of documentation, and federal laws that strictly limit purging voter rolls, the Dayton Daily News found. “It seems as though some groups are filing these challenges based on very scant evidence and in doing so they’re walking right up to the edge of voter intimidation,” said Ellis Jacobs, an attorney with the Miami Valley Voter Protection Coalition. “Unfortunately they don’t seem to take very seriously people’s right to vote.” Franklin, Butler, Lucas & Cuyahoga overturned all challenges. http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/news/state-regional-govt-politics/group-contests-voter-rolls/nSfSg/

If his word means anything..... 'Don’t expect to see conservative talk show host Bill Cunningham organizing an Ohio bus tour before election day for Republican nominee Mitt Romney, as he did in 2000 and 2004 for George W. Bush. “I’m done! I am turned off completely by politics,” he said.' http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20121014/ENT11/310140031/-Disgusted-Cunningham-vows-no-politics?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|FRONTPAGE|s
  12. Northside bar owners' goal: Knit a neighborhood Some people are inspired to make great art or to help children or to save the planet. Vanessa Barber and Kim Maurer were inspired by the belief that every decent neighborhood deserves a good bar. They opened the Mayday in Northside in October 2009. Yes, it is a business. And yes, Barber and Maurer wanted to make money. But really, they opened a bar on a funky stretch of Spring Grove Avenue next to a mechanic’s shop because they live here, and because they knew the people living here need a nice place to gather and drink. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20121015/NEWS10/310150033/Bar-owners-goal-Knit-neighborhood?nclick_check=1

^You could get one of these from Sheri Moon Zombie. Mine's black
  14. Northside has a strong hipster element but it is a lot more than a hipster neighborhood.
  15. ^Visiting Rapid City a few years ago, I found the drivers very polite & considerate towards peds. There were options for the vegetarian, vegan & the gluten free crowd & at the time, a rock & roll string quartet. Still, that's not enough for me to live there.

Not really my fave music of the moment but an Ohio musician whose birthday just happens to be 10/13. Anyway, his son just rightfully told off an e-friend of mine on PhaseBuch which got me thinking about Springfield's Johnny Lytle. heehee more: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johnny_Lytle
  18. I would. I see no reason to slam Sioux Falls..there are much worse places to live. But what are you going to do? Joan Jett played the corn Palace a few years ago.

So why did you sell it? I need money. And I wasn't able to use it for frequent or longer rides of more than a few blocks since it hurt my back to ride. Can't explain it. It's like the option is gone. I rode it to the store sometimes. Now I must walk or drive. Always. get it completely money aside, can you maybe ride a recumbent?

HTS121 - what you linked to looks pretty good - thanks David - when I was young & strong I'd ride down to 20 & below. Nowadays it's more like 30. layers I just tie an old T-shirt over my nose & mouth to do what Boreas was describing. cheap work gloves Glasses can be handy, riding down a hill at 35 without 'em, you'll be blind at the bottom as you tear up. & last but not least, putting a sheet of newspaper under your shirt can block the wind against your chest pretty nicely.

thanks I am more interested in being seen than in seeing and, since I don't live in a crime free environment, being able to mount & dismount the lights quickly is important.
  22. ^I doubt he has any intention of staying on city council that long.
