  2. Springfield hosts bio science school meeting The city schools will host an informational meeting about the proposed agricultural science, technology, engineering and mathematics school Wednesday night. The school — a proposal from Sen. Chris Widener, R-Springfield, called the Global Impact STEM Academy — has been in the works since last year. Officials hope to open it for the 2013-14 school year, and one possible location is South High School, which has been closed as a school since 2008. Seems like an odd idea for a use for SHS http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/news/local/springfield-hosts-bio-science-school-meeting/nSDGK/
  3. FWIW, the city has deleted a whole mess of pages and completely rearranged the website ~PITA~ I watched some of the finance committee meeting on the 18th & all of the special council meeting & heard nothing about a streetcar. Except for 1 abstention, Smitherman voted in line with everybody else on every issue I saw.

  8. High court tells Ballot Board to rewrite Issue 2 The Republican-crafted ballot language for state Issue 2 would be “fatal” to the proposal and must be rewritten, the Ohio Supreme Court ruled yesterday. The high court sided with Voters First, the coalition that includes the League of Women Voters, Democrats and unions. The Republican-dominated high court ruled 6-1 that the Ballot Board’s effort to trim the extensive proposal for redrawing legislative and congressional districts down to five paragraphs contained “material omissions and factual inaccuracies.” http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2012/09/13/high-court-tells-ballot-board-to-rewrite-issue-2.html
  9. cool - anger divination.... I was thinking it would be a good place for public executions (til we get some room at the county jail) http://quimbob.blogspot.com/2012/09/an-idea-for-fort-washington-way.html It would also be a nice place for a velodrome.
  10. and be sure to thank Winburn, Sittenfeld & Smitherman for being part of a council that supports the streetcar. You know they'll be adding that to their political repertoire in years to come anyway.

well, you need legs Department store bikes are generally not made well and no care at all is put into their set up. It will make a difference in your decision to carry on. A real bike will also have a better resale value.
  12. Campaign Ad Watch 'This might be the most audaciously over-the-top ad to run so far in the expensive and bitter race for the U.S. Senate. Republican Mandel, the state treasurer, borrows a tactic from GOP campaign guru Karl Rove’s playbook: Identify your own weakness and find a way to assign it to your opponent to confuse voters.' http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2012/09/14/adwatch14-g9sjah9e-1.html

pet peeve #666: When know it all web designers take established sites & completely obliterate the established navigation/links. The city of Cincinnati and Spring Grove Cemetery are numbers 1 & 2 on my pooplist right now.

Besides the usual fare they have noodle bowls. anyway, they are opening another in Sharonville. http://communitypress.cincinnati.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/C2/20120912/NEWS05/309120018/
  17. Clark County Fairgrounds set to expand "The Clark County Fairgrounds — the county’s largest tourism generator that produces about $105 million annually — will expand after a donation of land by the city. The Clark County Agricultural Society will purchase an adjacent 186-acre property from the city of Springfield for $1, possibly allowing it to provide more parking, campgrounds or both for visitors. The Clark County Auditor’s Office has appraised the property at more than $1.29 million." http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/news/local/fairgrounds-set-to-expand/nR8Sk/

Stan Hedeen's book, The Mill Creek: Unnatural History of an Urban Stream discusses this. I want to say Cincinnati was 80% deforested by 1880 but I might just have 80 on my mind. I have seen pictures of Northside from 100 years ago & there are no friggin' trees.
  25. 'An investigation by nonprofit journalism group ProPublica has uncovered the identity of one of the secret super PACs funding advertisements attacking U.S. Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-OH) and promoting his challenger, Ohio state treasurer Josh Mandel.' 'The race between Brown and Mandel is considered vital to Republicans who want to take control of the Senate and Democrats who want to hold on to their majority. It has turned into Ohio’s — and the nation’s — most expensive race.' http://www.citybeat.com/cincinnati/blog-3903-investigation_secret_ohio_group_supporting_mandel.html
