A comment on Chairman Brinkman's article in the Fishwarp got this comment: "COAST and that idiotic Cappel that is banned from the Blue Ash Rec. Center for inappropriate comments made to women should clean up their own house first!" Anybody know it this is true? I assumed COA Ters would all go to private country clubs rather than squander taxpayer money..... http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20120824/EDIT02/308240134/The-Big-Lie-from-Blue-Ash?
  2. Poll has Jim Berns L beating Steve Chabot 10 to 1 Well, it's a hair poll, but..... http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/news/local_news/water_cooler/congressman-steve-chabots-opponent-pokes-fun-at-his-do-claims-landslide-win-in-hair-poll
  3. 2 interesting stories that could be seen as kinda connected. (well in my demented mind) The gerrymandering of the first district leaves the city of Cincinnati with less of a voice. http://cincinnati.com/blogs/politics/2012/08/23/citys-voice-in-congressional-district-shrinks/ The city of Cincinnati apologizes for actions of a police officer following 1st district congressman, Steve Chabot's orders. http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/news/local_news/settlement-reached-in-camera-seizing-at-chabot-event So, I'm guessing we can expect more of this in the future even tho Chabot claims to have modified (not corrected) his policies.

Never knew cats had heart attacks, but yeah, they're just people too
  5. Wonder how much of this is driven by the Banks & OTR.... Cincinnati homes selling better than rest of U.S. "Home sales were up again in Greater Cincinnati during July, with the region posting a double-digit gain in sales. There were 2,229 homes sold in the region last month, a more than 12 percent increase from a year ago." http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2012/08/22/cincinnati-homes-selling-better-that.html
  6. "If you’re a C-Span junkie, you’ve probably enjoyed “question time,” when members of Parliament get to quiz the Prime Minister or cabinet members on whatever they’d like. The sessions can be combative, amusing, and illuminating. Now a Cleveland Democrat, Rep. Mike Foley, has proposed a bill requiring the governor to appear before the Ohio State House 10 times per year. (Locally, Rep. Denise Driehaus is a co-sponsor)." http://cincinnati.com/blogs/politics/2012/08/22/bill-require-question-time-for-governor/

I find Schmidt eerily hot. that said, I'm pissed Ruth Bader Ginsburg ain't on the list. Or the chick from Nebraska, Blanche or something. I sure don't get Rubio.

this is incredibly important From TMZ http://www.tmz.com/2012/08/18/sexy-american-politician-photos/#ixzz246D58hCG Ohio's Jean Schmidt makes the list. Her replacement will probably make it next year. Amazingly, Steve Chabot didn't make the list. South Dakota is on a roll.
  12. Maybe they can get a post apocalypse movie to film there & blow up the Crowell Collier building.... http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/news/local/city-seeks-role-in-business-of-filming/nRDwM/
  13. Developments moving forward at former Roosevelt location The first two tenants of a series of planned developments at the former Roosevelt Middle School site on North Limestone Street have moved onto the property and developers expect more businesses to come. Nationwide Children’s Hospital’s local Child Lab and Pediatric Associates of Springfield moved to 1640 N. Limestone St. at the end of July. http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/business/real-estate/developments-moving-forward-at-former-roosevelt-lo/nRCWd/

    France, Clevo, high speed rail....
  17. So, why is Smitherman allowed to vote on streetcar issues? Seems like an ethics issue to me.
  18. yeah, but it's not like people haven't been trying. The article cites a number of shootings.
  19. Former, COA T's members have proven a radical and unethical lot for years - effigy beheadings of local politicians, Brinkman's tampering with ballot signatures, Finney's vulgar outbursts at public political rallies, the constant misrepresentation of facts, the insane twisting of reality, their dubious alliances of convenience at every turn, their anti-productive campaigns of harassment & the fact that almost every ballot initiative they come up with would actually INCREASE government spending really should have tipped you off some time ago. ~Sorry for veering off topic.

^yeah, I caught that, too. healthcare, schools.... also bear in mind IH/Navistar didn't employ nearly as many people in 1990 as 1950 & even fewer now. Add in that the hospitals have closed & merged into 1 entity & more jobs are gone. And Wittenberg ain't all that big. The student population is about the same as a large high school.
  21. CC, how do you know this?
  22. Some stats/census crap on Springfield http://www4.wittenberg.edu/academics/urban_studies/BFINALEC.html top 10 employers 1950 International Harvester Company Crowell Collier Robbins & Myers Steel Products (Speco) National Supply Company (Cooper) Ohio Steel Foundry (Teledyne) Oliver Corporation Springfield City Schools Bauer Brothers William Bailey Company 1990 Navistar City Board of Education Clark County Community Hospital Mercy Hospital City of Springfield Wittenberg University Robbins & Myers Honda Cooper Industries
  23. The Enquirer is reversing itself on commenting policy on the article about a guy viciously assaulted by a half dozen teens. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20120815/NEWS0107/308150032 Police: Man attacked because teens 'were just bored' and the LTEs haven't been updated in 6 days. Dunno if somebody just lost a password or does the Enquirer really not want to hear from it's readers?
  24. heck, they haven't updated their LTE's since Friday around noon. Of course, there might not be any.....
  25. ^ditto but whaddya expect? http://cincinnati.com/blogs/opinionati/2010/09/15/winburn-im-for-qualls/
