Cincinnati's Riverfront Transit Center
At a HamCo Comm meeting, Todd Portune complained of some needless regulation blocking bus use in the Transit Center but I missed his explanation. Anybody got a clue? He said it would be discussed in further detail next week.

Flags, seals, etc.
ProkNo5, that's a neat flag. Needs something in the middle tho - hexagram? Where did you get your flags made? Northside was talking about making one. Clifton seems to have one, dunno if it's official http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/us-ohcft.html

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
It's not so much a black/white issue as a knowing people issue. If you have no friends & minimize interacting with people, your likelihood of getting murdered is very low.

"adding that he (Finney) won’t move forward with a taxpayer lawsuit unless he’s certain he could win." That doofus still thinks he was right & the CEC was wrong on Schmidt. Of coure he thinks he can win. That's just part of being a zealot.

for years, I worked 2 blocks from Findlay Market & about 3 blocks from the West End Popeye's. The vast majority of co-workers would not patronize any of the various lunch spots. It was not because they didn't like any of the choices, it was, despite the fact I brought my take out back to work along with menus, because there was nowhere to go. Well that & the fact that YOU WOULD DIE IF YOU WALKED IN THAT NEIGHBORHOOD. I'm still alive. (although that Popeye's didn't do me any favors)

Springfield South Fountain Avenue
When I was a kid, it was an area to avoid. People thought the preservationists were dreaming. I's really great to see the progress they have made.

Quimbob replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentIt's a state liquor license thing that allows more new licenses at a reduced rate but only for places that serve food. The C&D is already there so it doesn't do them any good. heck, it gives 'em more competition.

Cincinnati Enquirer
I have heard people griping about NYT delivery lately (in Northside) That being said, I just started paying for the Bizniz Courier & so far am quite happy with it. Dunno what my price point will be for the Enquirer. I skim the headlines & frequently find absolutely nothing. I almost always find something in the Springfield or Dayton papers.

from that article: "We’ve already gotten one very angry call asking why we didn’t quote more people sympathetic to Duke. Believe me, we called lots of people. And we talked to representatives of other utilities, too. It’s just that they didn’t agree with Duke, either." Meanwhile the Fishwarp tells us the biggest benefitter from the federal stimulus money in our area was (surprise) Duke. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20120221/NEWS/302210018 "The largest single local stimulus spending item was $203 million set aside for Duke Energy’s installation of “smart “meters” in Southwest Ohio. It also made Duke the sixth largest recipient of stimulus money in Ohio and the largest private recipient in the state."
