Cincinnati: Oakley: Oakley Station
From ColDayMan's signature, a GrassCat quote: "I love it when people come into a message board and immediately begin to mix it up. I mean, Jesus, at least say hello! Do you walk into a room full of strangers, pick a random woman, and tell her she's fat? - grasscat" Anyway, watching a meeting with the Oakley developers & a city council committee I got the definite impression the developers do suburban development - period. When asked about integration with the neighborhood, etc., they reacted like the guitarist in Spinal Tap who had an amp that went up to 11.

Springfield, Ohio: Lagonda Bank Building
I can't remember the inside of the old building but I did use the one built in 66. With all the glass & mile high ceiling, it had a very airy feel. The parking lot out front kinda cheezed the look, tho. This image from Harry Laybourne's first Images of America Spfld book looks north on Fountain at North Street. The newer bank building would be just to the left & the Greyhound station is where the police station is now. The gas station replaced the building across the street on the left.

Free 3D Software
DAZ is offering three pieces of their 3D software for free right now. http://www.daz3d.com/i/0/0? Haven't tried the Studio app or Hexagon. I played with Bryce years ago - it's primarily for landscapes, terrains & skies. I guess DAZ makes their money selling models to be used with their software.

A monorail type thing over the Ohio River connecting TB & NOTL would be cool. Something kinda like the contraption in Memphis that goes out to Mud Island.

Ohio Municipal Income Tax
Why is it always Republican s proposing big centralized government? "Some state leaders want to end Ohio’s unique status as the only U.S. state where its municipalities still collect local income taxes." http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/springfield-news/cities-fight-for-local-income-tax-collections-1320998.html

I believe it's scheduled for CitiCable but more camera angles will make for better YouTube. Slitherman is currently using CitiCable on his own cable show to promote his lack of understanding of the pension situation. Is that ethical?

Random Springfield
This article is interesting about what Springfield has lost. http://springfieldfirejournal.blogspot.com/2008/04/old-no-2.html I think Springfield was the piano plate capitol.... "On Feb. 10, 1902, a wind-whipped general alarm fire leveled the East Street Shops industrial complex and threatened the city's downtown." "Constructed in 1882, the plant - stretching for 800 feet along East Street, and extending for 1,200 feet along the Detroit Southern railroad line - was the largest of its kind under a single roof. (By the turn of the century, the complex had been surpassed in size by Germany's famous Krupp Gun Works.)"

Do you think this was taken from the church on that corner? If so, a modern version of the same pic might be possible. (and very cool)

Cincinnati City Council
The police audit is in. Some stuff looks good. Some, I don't know what good it will do. Like renaming the Vortex unit..... Hiring pros to do IT work, better record keeping & better dissemination of info to officers all sound good. I didn't see anything that said it really costs $1M to manage overtime or not. The linked article quotes the FOP boss as saying the city council made up that number but it was acting chief Jahnke who delivered the number to the council who thought it had to be less. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20120123/NEWS/301230074/
