This is actually an "app" post, more ios than Mac but what the heck. A Photographer's Rights app 1. Legal rules for USA, Australia, Canada, UK, Japan, Spain, Italy, France. 2. Your legal rights, valid for every of the supported countries. 3. General copyright laws, common to the supported countries. 4. Privacy laws, common to the supported countries. 5. Contracts in different languages, valid on the corresponding language spoken countries. 6. Common questions for photographers, that can be played in French, Japanese, Spanish, Catalan, Italian http://lifeinlofi.com/2011/11/29/photo-app-focus-photographers-rights/#more-13596
  2. ^ Requires a change in state law. Unlikely in this environment. Cincinnati needs to secede.....
  3. Yes- RIDICULOUS. I wish council could raise the number of signatures needed to get amendments on the ballot from 10% of the previous years electorate to 15%. Or require a super majority to pass a charter amendment.
  4. The idea that FaceBook is somehow your gateway to the internet is pretty weird. Also, after seeing the rise & fall of MySpace, counting on these services seems kinda lame. I tried to set up a FaceBook account with a really obvious fake name like Justin Time or something & they rejected it. That was awhile ago, tho. Anyway, nothing is stopping anybody from setting up a site or blog to make all the comments they want to on nay topic under the sun.
  5. One issue on the redistricting is that a wacko right winger Republican from Warren could challenge Chabot in the primary sending a bloodied Chabot into the general election or, if the farther right candidate won, more moderate Republicans in Hamilton County might vote Dem. Doubt it, tho. Seems like most people vote party line.
  6. Shortly after getting elected, he tried selling it to College Hilligans. Pretty sure he had milked that thing for all it as worth. Hence the return to politics. The man is a charlatan.
  7. More accurately, he can tell people he was part of the council that got it built.
  8. This search query landed somebody on my blog. "cincinnati streetcar used to seize property" Google directed the search here, too. Apparently somebody is desperate.
  9. CPO ran a similar article. People are furious.
  10. Where are you seeing Springfield News Sun has moved? Looks like at least the advertising is still 202 N. Limestone. Assuming printing is in Dayton.....
  11. He was certainly on the COA T sample ballot. Guy is just a pathological liar.
  12. That guy has posted the charts for the 3 Cs in Ohio. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,26569.0.html
  13. During the Issue 48 debates, Mr Finney pointed out population loss in towns like Philadelphia. This Renn guy has an interesting take on population shifts http://www.urbanophile.com/2011/11/10/back-to-the-city/
  14. The old Northslice @ 1609 Chase will reopen 11/12 as Don's Pizza Lounge with the usual fare - Fresh crust pizza, Calzones, Stromboli, Sandwiches, Pastas & Salads. They will keep the late night window on weekends & offer limited delivery. Also, a "comfy craft beer and wine shop that will evolve into a "rock ‘n roll wine bar,"" called The Listing Loon is set to open on Hamilton Avenue in the old Hoffner Lodge by Valentine’s Day. http://www.soapboxmedia.com/devnews/110811listingloon.aspx
  15. Interesting analogy because that is how prohibition eventually passed. They just kept hammering away. They're doing the same on abortion nowadays. You can keep bringing it up on ballots or in the legislature. These same people probably use the same tactics to get dates, too. You just wear the chick down......
  16. I friended a bunch of candidates on FaceBook to see what they had to say. Amy Murray was particularly interesting because the vast majority of her commenting supporters all lived out of town.
  17. Dunno how many of you guys remember when Tom Luken was on council & Qualls was mayor but it looks like we're in for more of the same. I think the Enquirer will be keeping an eye on Smitherman. This article from his last term tickles me. http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2004/01/26/loc_loc1asmith.html In it he is defended by a lawyer who was later disbarred for being stoned for years - including when he made the statement in the article. The NAACP graded council members on key issues & only 2 got bette than 50%. If Smitherman pursues these issues, his relationship with COA T will probably get interesting.
  18. ^I thought it was interesting those mailers were from the Ohio GOP as opposed to the HamCo GOP. Dunno who was paying for the anti-Quinlivan robo-calls.
  19. You can expect to find out if Smitherman gets elected. http://www.enquirer.com/editions/2004/01/26/loc_loc1asmith.html Cincinnati tried forcing employees to live in the city but I think it was found illegal.
  20. Soo...Has the fishwrap covered this at all? Or any other Ohio paper, as it pertains to Ohio law and is bizarre and interesting? heck, it's not even in the UrbanOhio Ohio Politics section....
  21. Interesting. I had kinda figured he had some kind of script running on a Blackberry. Seems like you could do something like that with some text generating program. Might even make more sense.
  22. per the Newsmakers episode, Hurley did more to debate Louis than Dawson. Kinda sad. Those 2 were on a PBS issues episode last night. Same thing. Problem is Louis & 48 proponents are working in soundbite mode. They say a few short easy to remember phrases & buzzwords that stick & most of the 48 opponents aren't doing the same. What's memorable afterwards is what the proponents have been saying. FWIW, Louis $400M figure seems to be for 30 years. Ohio Ethics guys have barred Bortz from voting. Once Kasich has the panel stacked, eating your young will probably be ok.
  23. Cincinnati Herald opposes Issue 48 (and the streetcar) Endorses 5 council supporters & 4 opponents http://www.thecincinnatiherald.com/news/2011-11-05/News/The_Cincinnati_Heralds_Ballot.html
  24. Cincinnati Mayor & an Oregon Congressman yak about streetcar with Enquirer editors. http://cincinnati.com/blogs/politics/2011/11/01/congressman-issue-48-could-be-tragic-for-city/ Kind of amazing hearing a congressman who is not a raving lunatic but when a panel member seems to suggest the Ohio city should build a train line to a NKY airport, the lunacy of the local reps makes perfect sense. Horstman suggests the congressman is just promoting business in his district.
  25. Crowell Collier building in Springfield sold to Mosler Industrial Service. Carting out stuff to the tune of 10 truckloads a day. “There has been more activity there in the last 30 days than there has been in months, if not years,” Meadows said. http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/springfield-news/crowell-collier-building-sold-for-1-5m-1276458.html
