  1. Surprised to see this article wasn't posted yet. It's a much better article, more well written and more information. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2012/10/kd_group_will_close_embassy_su.html#incart_river
  2. Just to clarify any confusion, new signs were put up this morning for the Society Lounge in the windows of the the entrance to the Fredrick building. I used to live in the Fredrick building and this is where we'd have to plug in a door code to get in and out of the building. A couple weeks ago I saw several trucks hauling large loads of drywall into the basement of the apartment lobby. Not sure how the entrance will work for security reasons, but Society Lounge doesn't appear to be going into the Dredger's union space or the empty space next to it for that matter. It's hard to see in this picture, but the entrance I'm referring to is right behind the Zocalo sign.
  3. It's been announced!!!  http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/news/local_news/cleveland_metro/chipotle-to-open-two-more-restaurants-in-cleveland-downtown-and-kamms-corners Good news...demo work has begun in the old Sometimes in the Silence space. All the drywall has been ripped back to the studs. Glad to see this finally moving along. Hope an announcement is made soon. But with good news comes some bad news...Nexus Cafe on Prospect has closed its doors. Sad to see another local business fail. It's a large space and was pretty under utilized.

  5. Not sure if this has been posted yet. I'm on the flatseast.com site fairly often and I've never noticed this before... But it shows a pretty detailed view of Phase I and Phase II with names of each of the restaurants that have signed on so far. It looks like only Lago, Ken Stewarts and Willeyville are a part of Phase I. http://www.flatseast.com/documents/FlatsLeasingPlan.pdf After further research, it looks like a similar plan was posted a few months ago, but quite a few changes have been made to the original plan which can be found here: http://www.flatseast.com/documents/retail-leasing-plan.pdf
  6. Good find! Is there an address? I can't view FB right now. 2063 East 4th, Cleveland, OH Which is right where Dredger's Union used to be. The Cleveland Brewery has an address for 2043 E 4th Street, so maybe the empty storage space next door?
  7. I suspect they were removed for the exterior cleaning. Now that the cleaning is long since completed, I agree that they need to be brought back. They are still doing some restorative work on the outside of the building, especially the PS side. I think until that is completed they wont be back. Not sure if the Superior side is finished or not, but I don't think so. It looks like the awnings are finally back. Saw a couple already installed this morning and a couple more on the bed of a truck waiting to be installed.
  8. It's about time. In preparation of the casino opening, they filled some of the gaps/holes between the concrete and brick with asphalt. :-o Not sure who's bright idea that was. But I walk through PS every morning and hopefully they are doing it right this time around.
  9. Those had been there for 2-3 months now. I think whoever is leasing that place and operating under the Cadillac Ranch name has know the Assets were getting sold and thus made the needed changes to stay ahead of any cease and desist order. The covering of the caddy looks terrible. Its even worse in person. It would honestly look better if the particle board was put up on the two sides and painted black. Still terrible, but at least you wouldn't still be able to see the car. I walk by that place every day on my way to and from work and it appears that it's been closed. All the outdoor patio furniture is gone, the signs have been taken down from the door, and the lights were off during lunch today. Guess Cowboy Rock didn't last very long. If it is indeed closed, I can't imagine it will stay vacant for long. Such a big space right across the street from the Casino.
  10. I've been to the one in Beachwood and it's a great steakhouse! But I'm more excited about the huge upgrade that the building will receive. Haven't seen any plans yet, but I can't imagine Maron will finish the ground floor without upgrading the entire thing. It will be nice to have those eyesore fences removed.
  11. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2012/07/cuyahoga_county_reveals_plan_t.html Probably preparing for the sale of the property. Based on the article, it looks like they are going back on the market on Monday.
  12. Well good news is that the gumbo place wasn't just a rumor. It's confirmed. Whoever mentioned the gumbo place also mentioned the chipotle going in next door so I'm assuming they are a credible source! Whoo hooo! http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/news/local_news/cleveland_metro/new-cajun-restaurant-called-j-gumbos-to-open-this-fall-on-euclid-avenue-in-downtown-cleveland
  13. In the spot that has looked like crap for way to long? If so, awesome! The plywood store is actually next to the Jimmy Johns and Sometimes in the Silence If it was going next to Noodlecat, it might be taking the place of Zoup which is currently closed and has a sign posted saying sorry we're closed but we're planning to reopen soon with new management. I hope it takes the place of a vacant storefront and not Zoup. The Zoup space seems too small anyways for a Chipotle. (by the way, from the image, Noodlecat is next to Jimmy Johns. It took the place of Teresa's Pizza)
  14. The soft opening is May 10 from 3pm-10. We received invites for being Cavs season ticket holders. And yes, we are allowed to keep our winnings and the casino winnings go to charity. Although I'm sure they will still 'ask' us to donate to charity as well, if I win anything that is.
  15. If it's happening in Cleveland, chances are we've got a whole thread devoted to it. Sure enough, after doing a quick search, it's at: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,25302.0.html Cool thanks. On another note, I know that MRN purchased the Volk's Jewelry building on Prospect within the last year. Anybody hear any plans for that bldg? It would be nice to see more of prospect filled in, especially so near the casino and E 4th.
  16. What's going on with the Anthony Celebreze building? I know there's been scaffolding and everything, but are they doing anything significant?
  17. It looks like they are starting to put the facade and windows on the building before they even finish adding each of the floors. I took this from a parking lot on W 9th.
  18. The pizza place isn't local. It's a chain from Vegas. Couldn't tell ya the name of it though.
  19. I wonder if they will do anything to the facade of the building (balconies, etc). How much was the facade of 668 changed? I know they added on some decoration to the top of the building, didn't they?
  20. I work in the same building and they were open and taking reservations as of last night. They've recently completely upgraded all their rooms. Installed wood floors, added new big flat-screen tvs, and put tempur-pedic mattresses in all their rooms. They also have done some work to their lobby/offices. Haven't heard about any re-branding, but it's possible with all the upgrades.
  21. Colossal Cupcake is moving in next to Radio Shack. Looking forward to a cool place for deserts. We could use a good ice cream/gelato shop downtown.
  22. I just noticed on my lunch break today that it appears to be some type of action going on at that store front. Good news is the plywood has been taken down, for now. Hopefully they will just make it more appealing to a tenant so someone can move in sooner. (I was also looking for the Filling in Euclid chain and noticed the same thing)
  23. What's the title of the article so I can search for the free version?
  24. We need to get them downtown. Coincidentally, Brulant (now Rosetta) used to be located on Park East next to BrandMuscle. And Rosetta has moved downtown, looks like someone is following suit.
  25. Hi, I've just joined this forum although I've been reading it frequently for several months. Decided to finally sign-up... What used to be where the large parking lot is now (between E 4th and E 6th)?
