I'm sure Rock Ventures and the city would love to revisit this, but like everywhere else, it comes down to development costs and rents. New construction is expensive. Rents are still relatively low in Cleveland. It's why we've seen so little new construction, aside from heavily subsidized conversions and some low/mid-rise stuff. Yeah I'm aware of this. I'm hoping though that with the superblock looming in the warehouse district, and the potential of nucleus that it won't be as difficult to obtain the necessary things to get it done. If the can do this anchor stores may be placed there. Money aside, it would be cool to see an connection to that other side of the street. Similar to what we see when you take the escalator on the second floor to the third and it drops you off across the street to Lincoln taphouse. That way both residents and shoppers could easily traverse the mall and the stores across the street.

I worked in the Avenue for 5 years and have seen multiple rats around Cajun Grill (The exact name slips my mind for some reason, that may be it.) The Shanghai Joe's incident is well known with employees of the avenue. The old Nathan's had a reoccurring roach problem as well. When i think abou it I've never heard or seen a rodent or roach problem on the food court side closest to the movie theater. I'm not saying it doesn't exist, just struck me as odd.

I hope he keeps it as is, maybe add some type of residential on the upper floors where the skylight tower offices are. Tower city has so much potential to be great the way it is. Hearing that one of his partners runs high end malls is encouraging though. The main things imo that need renovation and are eye sores per say are the bathroom in the back corridor by the convenience store, the food court, and the movie theater. The mall also has a major roach and rat problem as well, so bad to where rats are seen in the food court during the day and roaches were found in food. *cough shanghai Joe's cough*. Those things need to immediately be addressed.

Besides that this list seems kind of backwards, the higher the rank the more insults they had. St.Louis has only one recognizable structure but it was on the list? Miami has a lot of bland white structures now and you include a link to a building that will make it "uglier" but you name it as well. There were more comments that didn't make sense but this list isn't that good imo.

Although I'm too young to truly know the Galleria during its glory days, I've heard about how great it was and it's decline. I think that the Galleria has done a MARVELOUS job at reinventing itself into what it is today.

Looking at that proposed Ameritrust tower it isn't very appealing. Kind of glad it didn't get built. Even though a building on that lot would do wonders a better design was needed imo.

That's the Hippodrome Building and theater. 668 is immediately west of The Hipp. You can the awning for 668 in the photo from 1968 (the year the movie "Candy" was released).... The second photo is pretty cool, it looks like a photo from NYC.

925 Euclid (former Huntington Building). Just looks closer through a telephoto lens. Wow I wouldn't have guessed. Everything was so dirty in the 70s! Even the building next to it is much cleaner now.

This just caught my attention. What building is this and what is there now? EDIT: NVM I see it's still up. It just doesn't stand out as much today as it did in this photo I guess. Maybe because the BP Tower dominates it in the distance.

New zoning requires "culture shift" to make Cleveland more urban, less suburban planners say (photos) To underscore the point, members of the city's planning department displayed slides of East 4th Street between Prospect and Euclid Avenues in downtown Cleveland - a dense, lively, walkable, turn-of-the-century block packed with restaurants, shops and apartments. "Everything you're seeing here is illegal," said planner Kyle Reisz, describing the image. Pointing to one building at the corner of East 4th and Euclid Avenue, he said: "This is a mixed-use building with apartments over [ground floor] retail. Current zoning says because this is residential it has to have a front yard like a single-family house." Reisz paused for effect, he added: "That's what it says." For too long, Collier said, Cleveland has simply acquiesced when developers offer to build according to the existing zoning, taking the view that any investment is better than none. "We are considered a weak market city," Collier said. Glenville is on there. I was surprised no one had said they live there yet. Yeah, unfortunately the neighborhood population is dropping rather fast. Hopeful change occurs soon. Doubtful though.

Froze my butt off to get more detailed pictures of the CAED buulding lol. The building was so long that I couldn't get the full building in but it's still 99% of it. The last picture is to show how long the building is. The back of it is where I am standing and the front is right in front of Lincoln st. with a small grass buffer. I began in the front and ended in the back the pictures are in order.

The planning commission imo dropped the ball when they approved the "revamped" zoning code. Typical Cleveland move. It's important to note, however, that the specific overlay proposed for the Warehouse District underwent some last-minute dilution before the planning commission approved it. Instead of simply requiring developers to wrap the primary and secondary frontages of parking garages with offices, retail or housing, the new language states that a developer could also provide a garage with a façade "that does not appear as a parking structure." First look: Downtown Cleveland Alliance and PORT Urbanism unveil Main Avenue design (photos) CLEVELAND, Ohio – Dramatic new lighting, signs, graphics and architectural features that function like sculpture and/or street furniture highlight the PORT Urbanism design to reboot the shadowy, confusing area underneath the Main Avenue Bridge in the city's downtown. The Chicago-based firm, which specializes in urban design and civic environments, unveiled the latest version of designs for its proposed Main Avenue Connector project Thursday.
