  1. In the last two decades municipalities have been buckling to demands of their pro sport franchises to build new stadiums. Atlanta is building a new domed football stadium and baseball stadium while the old ones are only around 20 years old. Its pretty ridiculous. As Jacobs field and The Q turned 20 last year I began to wonder when we'd start to hear talk about new stadiums. I guess here we are. I think if they do get the money for the renovations, massive exterior renovations such as giving the concrete structure a glass exterior, mechanical fixes, and essentially making the building larger (increasing the footprint) for $140 million isn't (that) terrible. The new Orlando magic arena, which is 18,000 seats costs $330 million. I know I'm comparing apples to oranges essentially, but what I'm saying is if they do go through with this I'd rather only have a $70 million dollar tab (50-50 split) than that huge $330-$400 million dollar tab. I will say though even though I still like the Q a lot, I do wish the Q had more glass and was more transparent there is too much concrete for my taste.
  2. I thought the Q looked great especially given its age. It has newer seats, new team shop, new screen, new locker rooms etc. guess I was wrong. This just makes a case for that potential overhaul.
  3. Darn! All we needed was for NuCLEus to had been completed, as well as the FEB apartment and we would have been golden. Also to answer the articles question "New York and Chicago are older cities that are growing, what do we need to do to grow?" One word IMMIGRATION. Those 2 cities seem to have much better immigration policies and efforts in place that causes whatever amount of people move out of the city to be offset, not completely but a good part of it. If Cleveland improved our immigration efforts this conversation wouldn't be necessary. I forget which article I read which stated Cleveland does a great job of keeping it's homegrown residents. So once again immigration is key.
  4. Does NEOMG ever use a more than remotely relevant picture anymore? If I recall their photography division experienced drastic cuts, and a good amount of them use smart phones for photographs. This is probably why they don't use relevant photos. Although a quick google search wouldn't hurt.
  5. Does anyone have any photos of the finished product?
  6. That would be just like subway opening a store across from tc
  7. Shiny!!! ???
  8. This is a convention center hotel this design exceeds my standards for them, i think it's pretty good for the type of hotel being built.
  9. The architecture marvels continue to rise at Kent State! Seriously though Kent must have an overabundance of red brick stored somewhere....
  10. I like the design it looks bright, modern and open.
  11. Looks low rise but I have more faith in UH's building designs over the clinics.

    CHAMPS!......of the Central Division.
  13. Nice skyline view though
  14. I'd like to say that I never would have expected to hear this type of stuff happening in Cleveland, a city that hadn't had a skyscraper in 14-15 years all of a sudden has one that may need to become larger because of interest from tenants? YES PLEASE!
  15. I was about to ask do you think stark would be willing to include some condo's, maybe on the top floor? This way he could have those pre-sales to maybe entice lenders...
  16. Was in Cleveland for the day and just wanted to contribute...
  17. Kind of wish we stuck with the blue especially since there is more of it colored throughout that rendering than the green one. The green one has too much concrete imo.

The thing with Kevin Love is in the interview with Mike and Mike he said I'm going to be a Cavalier whether we win a championship in June or not. That was a paraphrase but had the same idea.
  19. Seems like a good problem to have............except when I drive downtown that's why I use #ParkandRide.
  20. Long-planned reconstruction of RTA's Brookpark Station will begin next month The busiest RTA rail station outside of Tower City is about to be torn down and rebuilt. RTA trustees on Tuesday approved spending $11.4 million to reconstruct the Brookpark Station, adding new east and west entrance buildings, a new tunnel under the existing freight railroad tracks, from the parking lot to station, and other features. "We cobbled together the money to do this," RTA General Manager Joe Calabrese said, noting that the plan had been in the works for years. The Cleveland-based architecture firm Bialosky + Partners completed the project design in 2008. Two years ago, RTA found money to repave the parking lot east of the station. Built in 1969 on the border of Cleveland and Brook Park, the station will be 46 years old in April. ^ I guess they wanted to show appreciation for the architecture back then and stick with that design. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2015/03/long-planned_reconstruction_of_rtas_brookpark_station_will_begin_next_month.html#incart_river
  21. Being that it is underground, is the CCC expandable?
  22. Great list, I'm looking at Seattle, Portland, Atlanta and Washington D.C myself once I graduate college. I really wish Cleveland had some cooler shots of the city I know some exist, the one we had wasn't bad I want people to say "wow that city looks cool!" Also,UGH! I wish the description of what we have here was more detailed it seemed so bare lol. Great to see us on the list nonetheless!
  23. Thought the same thing as soon as I read the headline.
  24. Shame, I always thought of University Square as a nice, unique building. It was basically a shopping center but creatively hid the parking while still be accessible to stores. Sad to see it struggle, I always thought it would be a great idea to have something like that within the city limits especially with rail connected to it.
