  1. Each station will have two tracks with an "island" platform in between the tracks. All railroads that have electric or electronic signalling system that govern the safe movement of rail traffic have their tracks divided into segments or "blocks." Each block is allowed to accommodate one train and to keep other trains from entering that block, the block is protected by, at minimum, a trackside signal displaying stop, caution/restricted speed, and clear/track speed indicators. A clear signal is typically displayed when the next two blocks ahead are clear of rail traffic. A caution signal is typically displayed when the next block is clear of rail traffic but the block beyond it is occupied. And a stop signal is displayed when the next block is occupied. The signals are activated by low-voltage electrical current running through the rails. A trains wheels and axle are all one piece and "complete the circuit" between the two rails which causes trackside signals (as well as crossing gates, etc) to activate. BTW, if you ever seen an obstruction on the tracks, take the jumper cables out of your car and connect the rails with them to activate the signaling system to stop all rail traffic on the line, then call 911. While all signaled railroad blocks are protected by trackside signals, some have more elaborate systems of protection. GCRTA has one such system called Automatic Train Stop in place on all of its Red Line and part of its Blue and Green lines. If a Red Line train enters an occupied block, the operator gets a stop signal displayed in the cab accompanied by an awful-sounding noise and the train's brakes are activated. The train's operator cannot move the train any further until the next block is cleared of rail traffic. RTA's maintenance of way department can also program (or code) certain blocks with caution indications if track work is being done in that area to force trains to slow down. Unfortunately, these coded track circuits stay coded in off-peak periods when workers aren't working, or remain in force after the work appears to be done just in case some wrap-up work is needed. So the point of all this is that trains (especially Red Line trains) cannot occupy the same platform at the same time. At Tower City Center, GCRTA is able to operate trains more closely together because the blocks are shorter. But this comes with signal-enforced speed restrictions through the terminal area. So if you ever wondered why GCRTA enter and leave the station so slowly, that's why. Also, other factors limiting the ability of having more trains stop at the same platform is the length of a platform. A 270-300 foot platform will comfortably accommodate a three-car Red Line train with room to spare. A platform more than twice as long will be needed to accommodate two trains on the same track combined with extremely short signal blocks and signal-enforced speed restrictions in the vicinity of the station. Also, the Red Line schedule would have to be adjusted to accommodate having more than two trains in these stations at any one time. Rest assured, if ridership grows significantly at these two University Circle stations due to continued economic growth nearby and the relocation of the East 120th station to Little Italy, it won't create a unique circumstance concerning station use. Instead, it will start to create the kind of ridership that's common at enroute stations on most heavy-rail system and on many light-rail systems. And most of those stations are served by no more than two trains at a time with headways already common on the West Side Red Line. I appreciate the extensive response but maybe I should have been more specific when I said train I meant to add the word cars behind it. So I was basically wondering how long the platforms of the new stations will be. So looking at your last paragraph I'm assuming both new stations will be able to hold 3 cars comfortably on both sides of the island platform.
  2. I never saw an answer to this question, how many trains will the new UC AND Little Italy platforms be able to hold at once? With the change to a more dense neighborhood in LI and rail ridership increasing I would hope at least 4 trains could be held at once.
  3. The red line stations are mainly fit for 2-3 trains, but people on here said they could easily be extended with construction, could the same be said for the HL stations. I ask because the 60ft HL busses aren't nearly enough they are crowded to the max capacity often.
  4. Is the 60ft articulated bus the longest articulated bus available for purchase?
  5. Which "up and down industry"? Manufacturing...it may be on an uptick right now but it seems like Cleveland still makes manufacturing seem like the bread winner of the region when the focus should switch to more white collar jobs. I know there is an attempt to get more of these jobs but the effort doesn't seem great enough, the economy is not diversifying at a quick enough pace to keep up with the ever evolving global economy. Just my opinion though. For starters is there a reason we shouldn’t be the ones making that biotech equipment, and/or the parts it’s made from? I'm not sure what exactly how our focus is supposed to change? For the most part, business friendly is business friendly. Not trying to really get into a major discussion about it, I just think in my opinion on us needing to diversify our economy more quickly.

  7. We need to stop focusing on such an up and down industry and make sure more up and coming industries that will attract young professionals like biotechnology, medical etc. grow a lot faster. Even though my major in college is communications (Nothing to do with the aforementioned jobs) I want to work in Cleveland after graduation. The problem I have is that I'm getting scared off more and more each time I see these job loss articles, and I know I'm not the only college student that feels the same.
  8. So basically the Midwest has the chance to be the new East Coast....interesting and exciting!
  9. Are the first five floors of the Ritz building leased? What about the status of the building next to it as well, if they are vacant how about converting those floors into apartments or condos?

    Does Romeo Crennel run a 3-4 I can't recall.

Now the question becomes, who are you most comfortable with, Bortles or Manzel? Bortles seems like the safe pick while Manzel seems like the sexy pick. I don't see Manziel being an NFL superstar. Bortles probably goes to Jacksonville. At this point I like Clowney at the 4. I don't see us drafting anyone else at 4 than a QB and knowing the Browns even if all three of the top QBs are available (Teddy included) I see the Browns still taking Manzel. The Browns for some reason always pass up the common sense pick for the storyline grabber and I hate that.

  13. Did anyone see the commercial about the village project commercial on channel 19? The commercial talked about reviving old holmes for start up housing for young professionals and reusing other forgotten buildings. I think that is an amazing idea to give life to the forgotten parts of the city, I noticed that the entire commercial revolved around E.105th st. Maybe they are trying to finish what was started with heritage lane, but time will tell with how feasible this project will be though.

If well basically when McDaniels is hired we can expect to see a return of Romeo Crennel
  15. Subway has been there for years, as far as the McDonald's they were very close to closing but at the 23rd hour TC management were able to etch out a deal with the owner. A lot of workers were preparing to go to the eddy road location.
  16. Talking to the workers at that T-Mobile the TC location is one of the busiest T-Mobiles in the Cleveland area, with the Steelyard being the busiest.

I didn't mean to say close I should have said are talking to. I fixed it.
  18. I have no problem wuth the move though. It's a move from a kiosk to an in line store, which to me is important because it takes away those glaring vacancies as you walk through the mall. The kiosk is sort of tucked away so it won't look as bad empty. Having occupied in line stores is much more important to me than having occupied kiosk especially when you look at their locations (under the escalators). Now only if lids would move (Maybe they will the lease is up in 2014.)
  19. I've been curious about if they will do the second bathroom next that bathroom looks equally as bad as the old food court one.

Cavs talking to the Lakers about trading Andrew Bynum for Pau Gasol according to ESPN.
  21. Not a new store coming in but T-Mobile will be moving into the old Lady Foot locker space next to Claires in March that is confirmed. Construction is scheduled to start in January.

I'm more intrigued by his reaction when the 19 action news reporter read off the fan comments after the firing. They seemed to completely catch him off guard.

Chud was and is a great guy and I know players liked him. But being well liked isn't the key for a successful coach. Well respected, even feared sometimes, is.I remember Otto Graham saying that, if he had a gun while on the sidelines, he would have shot Paul Brown on more than one occasion. How old are you?! :P

While watching channel 3 they said one reason he was fired was that he didn't hold players accountable by releasing them, namely Weeden and Little
