Mike Shanahan has been bad - average post Elway. He was 24-40 in Washington in 4 years, and only won one playoff game since Elway, I pass.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I can't give up on the team I love football too much, and for me it's Browns or no one. That being said what about Lovie Smith as our coach? When he got fired he was 10-6, the Bears play virtually the same type of football as the Browns by being in the NFC North, he has proven head coach experience. The only knock on him coming here would be that be is a defensive minded coach but to me you can give that offensive control over to a QB oriented coach in Norv Turner. If you ask me the defense performed worse than the offense so I would rather have a defensive minded coach here who has had success over an unproven offensive minded coach.

Well stated.... "More pro-bowlers than wins." Sounds like the Kansas City Chiefs in 2012! On the NFL Network this morning, they commented that if a team has that many pro-bowlers and so few wins, that says a lot about coaching. But I also think it says a lot about the quarterback too and the total lack of a running game. One can only wonder what this season would have been like if Brian Hoyer and Dion Lewis had not gone down for the season. If anything, this also speaks to the lack of depth on this team. In my mind, I think our top three draft picks should be used on quarterback, running back and defensive lineman. I haven't looked to see what players are unrestricted free agents next year, but we might pick up a running back and a decent run-blocker for the right side of the offensive line. We also really need to resign Alex Mack, first and foremost. I feel the top three picks should be used on Quarterback, Wide Receiver, and Corner back in that order. We obviously need a future quarterback that can go without explanation. I feel like we need a legitimate 2nd option along side Gordon more than a RB. Greg little is a #3 WR at best and we were without Dion Lewis throughout the season and Edwin Baker is turning out to be a pretty decent back. We also have to see what is out there in ghe Free Agent market for RB's. We actually are pretty deep a DL with Phil, Rubin, Bryant, Kitchen, Winn, and Sheard can be a down lineman. Corner back is still shaky Skrine is not a legitimate #2 and still has coverage issues which leads to a field day for QB's which leads to points. We are almost there but we need those three positions the most.

Cleveland: Streetscape Improvements
Im intrigued by the multi module transportation network and excited about the conversion of office storefronts to "interactive commercial destinations." Living in Cleveland though I have learned to hold back my enthusiasm until work begins, but exciting nonetheless!

That has been a problem for years especially at Windermere the drivers have to always manually lift the ramps. According to RTA's 2012 Annual Report they set aside $7 million to replace their rolling stock and were supposed to purchase 60 new buses this year. http://www.riderta.com/annual/2012

Cleveland: Downtown Retail Needs
I've long felt that downtown should pursue more local retail like they did with the CLE store. Since major retailers won't come downtown until we hit a certain pop. this is the next best option, it helps local businesses grow as well as creating a new vibe downtown. We can support retail already it just needs to be affordable retail (no $100 shirts). I do believe and have said this before that downtown is turning into a food court and I don't believe much more restaurants can be successfully supported until a major jump in population in and around downtown occurs. I'm not a fan of all of these restaurants opening simply because it is taking up potential retail spots once we hit that magical number. That being said we still have a good amount of empty storefronts left to fill with clothing establishments (up until CSU turf) but that all depends on the dimensions these retailers are looking for which may decrease the number. I've also said for a while that Tower City needs to be re purposed into something else and the national retailers left should come and fill tge streets downtown to create this major activity. I've never been a fan of an indoor mall downtown it's like an activity vacuum. In the end I feel if downtown wants to be serious in filling these storefronts with more than just food establishments they can (look at 5th street arcades) it just takes the effort.

I don't ride the blue/green lines often but when I did I believe the automated voice accurately called out every stop. I wonder since these were renovated, did RTA add the automated voice so it can accurately call out stops for the whole line.

Northeast Ohio: Regionalism News & Discussion
Merging East Cleveland with Cleveland could help both cities: editorial Former Cleveland City Council President George Forbes was right to call on East Cleveland to merge with Cleveland and to work so hard behind the scenes trying to make it happen. It's great that both mayors seem agreeable, too, but their assent isn’t enough. Voters will have to weigh in at some point -- so officials in both cities need to pick up the ball and run with it. Residents need to get a clear picture of what a merger will mean and understand the benefits it can deliver to both cities. To best accomplish those goals, both Cleveland Mayor Frank Jackson and East Cleveland Mayor Gary Norton need to make that conversation much wider. This isn’t about picking on financially-distressed East Cleveland. Other struggling cities in Cuyahoga County – Linndale comes to mind – should consider becoming part of the far more robust city of Cleveland. But beyond that, shared services and administrative mergers are the future for fragmented Cuyahoga County and its strapped taxpayers. http://www.cleveland.com/opinion/index.ssf/2013/12/merging_east_cleveland_with_cl.html#incart_river_default

So you said the first newly renovated car, which means only one is done. How long will this process take? From Jerry's original post: "The budget of this project for interior is $3.5 million and will take about two years to complete." That's what I get for not reading lol

Cleveland: Campus District
I feel small things could be done such as having more glass on the building and placing lounges in that area for students to look out at the city so it wont seem so bland or more vibrant colors, just something to liven the area. I just don't like the dark colored building, and box shape it just looks so uninspiring. EDIT: The parking lot in the back bothers me for some reason as well.

Northeast Ohio / Cleveland: General Transit Thread
It's not that informative of a video, you're not missing much. Although one of the comments some girl reads is one that I submitted to them on twitter. Seeing the alternatives that they're considering at http://www.redlinehealthlinestudy.com/explore-alternatives is far more interesting. Option E and G are great alternatives, a streetcar that touches numerous different neighborhoods that are very disconnected from rail (Ivanhoe, E.152, Waterloo, Downtown Euclid Etc.) I feel like this is a more exciting alternative than the Heavy/Commuter rail going from Superior station to E.260th and Euclid. This is especially exciting since it rides through actual neighborhoods which would help with ridership greatly, where the red line would be away from residential and face the same problems the current red line is facing. I also like that it would help play a part in revitalizing the Collinwood area. The only thing I would change is having it go to the end of the county line but I know it would be a challenge to find a turnaround for the streetcar. I'm not bothered by not going all the way to the county line, but they could at least have extended the busses down to the high rises at 260th. The residents there make up a significant portion of the ridership of the 39/39F. Plus no need to plan for a turnaround for a streetcar if you have no intention of building a streetcar. We all know we're going to get bendy busses and while it's tight there is room for one to turn around in Shoregate, so what's the issue? As far as alternatives for routes, I like half of them but I'd prefer one that takes Euclid to Coit then take 152nd through 5 points and then turn onto Waterloo to 185th up to Lakeshore. I really wanted the Rapid+ LRT/Streetcar to at least end at E.260th and Lakeshore but if they improve the timing of the 30/39F if that streetcar alternative were to be chosen I would be just as happy. I feel like any extension of service would have to improve service through Waterloo rd. because that seems to be the next emerging neighborhood and adding this service would help serve the neighborhood a lot better than now as it builds up. Option C (I believe that is the option you prefer) doesn't mention serving Waterloo which is why I like options E, and G since it seems to serve a multitude of areas and both have a larger population than Option C within a half mile. I know we most likely will end up with healthline buses but a man can dream right?
