New Metro Area GDP Released
So is this saying that the Cleveland Metro was the fastest growing metro in the state last year? Also what does GDP mean?

Northeast Ohio / Cleveland: General Transit Thread
You told me it was. operational cost as in moving the trains is average, the maintenance costs both of the rolling stock and the infrastructure is very high, not helped by low ridership. I think that's just due to having an old rolling stock. When your Heavy Rail is pushing 30 years old and parts possibly getting harder to find along with them breaking down due to age, that would definitely cause maintenance cost to skyrocket. Also with how fast train technology had progressed the new trains I believe would be worlds cheaper to maintain than 1980s trains.

Which would you all prefer, rapid, bus, or streetcar? I find the streetcar intriguing since there isn't one in the area but I find the Rapid much more convenient.

Cleveland: Downtown: Euclid & 9th Tower / Schofield Building Redevelopment
I wouldn't even consider it the financial district anymore honestly half of the banks moved to Public Square and the 5/3rd building if I remember correctly is closer to Public Square than 9th.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
I actually asked him that and he said they still want one Downtown.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
The mall manager is the person who would sit and do the negotiating with new stores that is why the Nike lawyers were talking to her.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
Isn't the mall manager and owner the same thing in this case? Both FCE? No the mall manager is different her name always slips my mind but it is a common belief around tower city with store managers of stores that have been there since virtually the beginning of TC at least that the mall went in the wrong direction when she came on board.

Aren't the RTA stations already equipped with CNG fueling stations from their last CNG run? (Although they probably need replacing) Isn't the infrastructure there and wouldn't that cause the cost Denver is facing to not be as high with RTA?

Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
I'm more curious about the street car that showed up at 1:30!!! Note: While that high rise would be nice I don't see it happening soon. 515 Euclid should be built on before anything.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
This is no development but a new update on moving a house of hoops into Tower City. I was talking to the Manager at Footlocker and he was telling me on surprise day that the Footlocker president along with Nike Lawyers came to visit the Footlocker store downtown. They were scoping the store because they want to move a house of hoops down there very badly because they know it can make money (Footlocker downtown is a million dollar store). They met with the Mall Manager but hit a snag due to the mall manager not knowing what direction they want tower city to go in (A regular mall, an outlet mall, a clearance mall). He was telling me the Nike lawyers were trying to convince the manager that if you allow a store with that much popularity in your mall then more stores will be willing to come in your mall (ripple effect). That is why we haven't seen the House of Hoops or any major store move in the mall, not because the story wasn't true but because the mall manager doesn't know which direction it wants the mall to go in.

Cleveland: Transit Ideas for the Future
I've always thought the routes that the Blue and green route go were pointless simply because the follow the same route as one another besides a couple of stops. I feel like having one of the two go to busier areas (I vote beachwood or UC) would do wonders for it as long as the other ends downtown. I say a beachwood route serves as best simply because the street traffic there is a nightmare and because of that the rail would be used a lot more.

Northeast Ohio / Cleveland: General Transit Thread
It's Rapid+ which really has no equal anywhere, even though it combines a number of existing technologies to extend the reach of our Rapid system here, hence the "+". All Aboard Ohio came up with the idea for a vehicle that runs on rails -- it can operate on high-speed dedicated track like what we have in Cleveland or it can operate in the streets or it can operate under diesel power without overhead wires where service frequency is less. It would look very much the like the RiverLINE train above but also have the ability to be powered by electricity, as the RiverLINE's cars do in Europe. Sounds amazing and very innovative but with the leadership we have I feel as though it's a pipe dream

They call rail+ something like what San Francisco has, so is that virtually a streetcar?

Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
I thought there was another food establishment going where Cadillac ranch was?? Owners of the new JQs talked about a concept they were going to put there, no? I thought the new JQ was going where the old John Q's was because I thought I heard talk of a roof top patio.

Cleveland: Downtown: May Company Building
I was always bothered that the May Co. Building created that void of an otherwise bustling Euclid Avenue I'm glad to see this developed. The Cadillac ranch portion needs to be developed though to be developed into retail *fingers crossed for a local clothing store*

Cleveland Rapid Rail Construction Projects (Non-Service Issues)
Im just hoping the upkeep is much better this time the old one constantly smelled of pool water mixed with urine.

Yes they are that's what 24 hour service mixed with large amounts of ridership does to a bus. I've seen a few with 80,000 miles it's time for new buses. This is where a streetcar would have come in handy, to hold the heavy ridership much better than the Healthline.

Are new Healthline buses apart of the anticipated new rolling stock?

My question is are they gonna do something about the rust that isn't supposed to be there.- Cleveland: Downtown: Hilton Cleveland
Link? Sorry http://www.wkyc.com/news/article/309577/3/Cleveland-Fast-tracked-hotel-planners-want-input Thank you im still discouraged by that 19 story number but since it is by some low rise buildings it should be fine. Density in the skyline would be great but being surrounded new fresh high rises while roaming the area will suffice.- Cleveland: Downtown: Hilton Cleveland

What are you basing this on? Is this sarcasm? Im basing this off of 7 years of east side ridership and also seeing how well the West Side buses look and run in comparison. Also based off of Windermere drivers opinions. And you've ridden on every bus in the system? Thats the only way you can make an honest comparison, right? I didn't literally mean ALL I mean how many east side buses have broken parts and I mentioned whats broken ive ridden the East side buses extensively over 7 years as well as the west to tell the difference. Regardless of the route seeing that many issues constantly on the buses I ride shouldn't happen these are issues ive seen over 7 years so im pretty sure that's a large enough timeframe to see that this is an issue that hasnt yet been fixed. If you rode these buses im mentioning constantly you would have the same views as me. So stop it. If I get on the #39 #30 #3 #10 #94 #41 #28 #1 #37 even the Healthline and seeing no A/C constantly, broken window's CONSTANTLY, broken wheelchair lifts CONSTANTLY, but ride the #20A #76 #81 #26 on an near everyday bases and RARELY see those issue that the east side counterparts see then its an issue.- Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Venting aside, if you are truly interested in helping to SOLVE any real or perceived problems, we'll need details. It's a simple matter of recording the bus number (the four digit number that can be found in multiple locations on the inside and outside of any vehicle, including right above the front door as you're entering); this number is unique to the specific vehicle, and narrows down the problem most precisely. Also, please include a SPECIFIC description of the problem, or problems, you're noting. "It's falling apart" is not a specific description. "No A/C, multiple windows unable to be opened" is specific. Noting the route the bus is on will help us to direct the complaint to the proper garage as quickly as possible. Reporting problems as close as possible, timewise, to when you notice them helps to avoid redundant reports of problems that might already be fixed. Reports should be filed through the feedback form at http://www.riderta.com/feedback. Every operator is provided with a "defect card" they fill out prior to placing a vehicle in service, which is turned in at the end of their run. These defect cards assist with making maintenance aware of problems that need to be addressed. Your voices, added to those reports, further amplify the awareness, and correction, of those problems. I mentioned specific things such as no A/C broken window's, broken poles, broken wheelchair lifts, etc. in an earlier post but thank you I will do that now that I know the place to do it. Ive also heard from drivers that Windermere doesnt have the adequate amount of parts to fix the issues they have. Thank you though JeTDoG. - Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
