Northeast Ohio / Cleveland: General Transit Thread
Let me just say that he's certainly been accused of disliking rail on multiple occasions on UO and the accusations are not entirely without cause. I would think that rail would be more efficient than buses since they can last 30+ years and require less maintenance than buses. With buses the RTA replaces them yearly at 450,000 a piece and the ideal life span is 13 years (depending on work load of course) not to mention cost of fuel and maintenance due to harsh conditions. Rail also transports customers much fastet than bus, with all these benefits its hard to even understand a dislike of rail.

Yes, that's why KJP has been advocating that. If they were willing to single track as well, they could aquire, lease or share existing tracks and they'd just have to construct some sidings for passing, build the stations and buy the vehicles. Well that sounds vastly simpler than just having electric only trains. Is Joe not a rail guy or something?

Question...if the RTA switched to Diesel Electric trains wouldnt the cost of an extension be alot more feasible because you now wouldn't have to install electric overheads anymore?

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
If you can get up to $250 million I say add seats in the gaps like Philly is doing and build a dome. GO HARD OR GO HOME! Im an old school footballer. I has to be tractable. Football is a hearty sport meant to be played in all kinds of environments, not inside. No full dome I want to see kickers hone their skills and work for a field goal. i want to see QBs work with the wind to throw a touchdown bomb! I want to see team plan for a running game because it's too cold or windy to throw downfield. It's football damnit! FOOTBALL! Oh I feel the same way I just want a dome so it can be used year round. Right now Browns stadium is a waste I have a question, just for sh!t and giggles, over the next two years, what would book there? Keep in mind we just built a new convention center and do not have the appropriate hotel space. Before you answer, I'll say it - A dome will not help the stadium increase revenue and make a profit. Help the Browns, Cleveland or Cuyahoga County! Off the the top of my head we would be able to bid for all star games (nba) and the super bowl which would bring in tons of revenue. Far fetched? Yes but hey if Detroit can get a super bowl (not a shot at Detroit its just Detroit is not the most typical city for big events like that imo) why cant we.

Cleveland: Downtown Office Buildings Updates
There was talk about it, but it never really went anywhere. It was going to require some FAA input, and Peter Lewis never had the clout Oral Roberts did in Tulsa so couldn't bypass same. Plus, from what I've heard from employees there was strong opposition within the company, reaching into the upper ranks. Lewis wanted it for primarily egotistical reasons. The idea, moribund from about 1991, died when Renwick took over. So was it around the Burke airport airspace? Also its amazing what a few years and a few developments can do to change the perception of downtown to employees in the suburbs.

The same. Mayor Mike White pissed off Progressive CEO Peter Lewis, so he went elsewhere. Is the same CEO there and what happened?

Was that the progressive insurance company that wanted to build a tower downtown that got canceled years ago or was that another company with a similar name?

Still think they should have tried to find funding for an auditorium since this is a performance arts school. John Hay is taking a beating as far as a school with the door handles ripped off, the seats in the basement in the presentation room were/are constantly broken, walls being constantly written on, and the glass constantly broken. All done by outside schools and visitors who don't have a sense of ownership or an appreciation of a beautiful school. All due to a lack of an auditorium.

East Cleveland: News & Discussion
Also now thinking about it I believe Cleveland should grab EC up until Windermere station and Shaw High and since shaw is so new they can redevelop the curriculum to something like John hay (Interview to get admitted, take a math test, have a at least a 3.0 to get in and maintain that or you're kicked out) so they have a strong performing school to go along with their neighborhood their trying to develop and have something the new residents can send their kids to. This is all dependent on if they gobble up EC by UC as well and have redevelopment plans for it, but if they will and do develop it this is vital for a new thriving neighborhood. The school can be 6-12 it's already a large school and allows for the residents to start their kids early.

Cant say that I am http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/sports/football/browns/sources-browns-looking-into-bringing-back-derek-anderson “The fans are ruthless and don’t deserve a winner,” Anderson said. “I will never forget getting cheered when I was injured. I know at times I wasn’t great. I hope and pray I’m playing when my team comes to town and [we] roll them.” No thank you I don't want him back...
