Cleveland: Flats East Bank
I know but I mean will any other structures be built beside the residential building? I know the original flats plan is out the window but if the plan ends at these two buildings that is a MAJOR downsize and kind of disappointing. Who said the original Flats plan is out the window? They're phasing it it, they aren't shooting from the hip with a random set of buildings. So the movie theater, clubs, etc. are in the plans still and we will see all of this built? And This.. http://blog.cleveland.com/business/2008/03/flats_project_grows_new_plans.html

As I said earlier I like the progress I see so far and the building may look better than I thought in the end

Thank you for doing that I'm glad it will because it will be good to see a new building in the skyline. (Haven't said that in a while)

That dead ray building also has a curve in it as well and is glass so its not a complete "cereal box" but the Ernst and Young tower is alright but not great it may look better when completed. I was just saying Cleveland has to many "cereal box" shaped buildings is all.

I find it funny that your UO rank is at Willis Tower but I like it because it is not just a "pencil" building (like people call key tower) it has different protruding sides which interest me, and One World Trade Center is unique to me because it looks like a glass building with a sort of twist to the shape and stands out to me

Okay I'm back on topic...So phase 2 only includes the apartment building and retail or what? If so will there be a phase 3 etc. to add more things down there or is that it, because that is a lot of land.

Yes I know that part will be unique but you really can't deny that our skyline is missing that unique building that stands out like other cities have (Freedom Tower NYC, US Bank Tower LA, Willis Tower Chicago etc.). I don't know maybe I'm wanting to much from a city that is recovering and re-inventing itself but at the same time. I just want to see that one building that will make me say WOW

A little of topic but Cleveland has a lot of boxy and bland highrises, it seems like Cleveland is afraid to think outside the box. I know this will be a box shape but I hope this building can add some "flavor" to our skyline.

Where was this shot at and will this actually be a presence in the skyline or is the elevation to low to stand out?

Cleveland: Jack Cleveland Casino
Cleveland police make presence felt on Public Square in advance of casino opening (gallery) CLEVELAND, Ohio -- The opening of the Horseshoe Casino Cleveland is still a week away, but beefed-up police patrols already are trying to discourage loitering in nearby Public Square, an area frequented by panhandlers and homeless people. Once the casino opens on May 14, additional officers will work the square and Terminal Tower -- the busiest hub in the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority system -- as thousands of casino visitors and thousands of riders cross paths. The goal is to make sure visitors are safe while respecting the rights of others who use Public Square. Police administrators, casino officials and advocates for the homeless and mentally ill say that will require planning and sensitivity. In a move to deter crime, police began stationing a patrol car in front of Tower City in November. The presence seems to have helped reduce loitering, said Lt. George Seroka, officer in charge of the department's expanded 38-member Downtown Services Unit. Public Square is not the magnet it once was for people looking to take drugs, sleep or even bathe in the fountain, said Helena Miller of the Downtown Cleveland Alliance, a business-funded group that deploys safety monitors and cleanup crews on downtown streets. She said an overnight curfew imposed by the city and efforts by the alliance's "ambassadors" have discouraged or helped relocate those who made the space their home. http://www.cleveland.com/metro/index.ssf/2012/05/cleveland_police_make_presence.html#incart_hbx

Iconic Borally's Catering to become charity gambling complex Richmond Heights, Ohio --- Veteran restaurateur Christian Haffey plans to open a charity gambling business with electronic poker and blackjack tables in the Borally's Catering party complex in Richmond Heights. Haffey said he has signed a six-month lease for Casa di Borally and expects to launch charitable gambling in the 10,000-square-foot building by mid-July. He's renaming it the Buckeye Charity Event Center. Haffey said the Buckeye Charity Event Center will cater to churches, high school bands, animal shelters and other nonprofits that increasingly have come to rely on gambling dollars to pay their bills. Charities will hold three- or four-day festivals that could net them $10,000 a day or more, Haffey said -- a much bigger purse than from cookie sales or car washes. State gambling laws allow certain types of gambling for charitable purposes, at locations either owned by a charity or leased to a charity by a governmental entity or veterans' organization, said Richmond Heights Law Director Todd Hunt. http://www.cleveland.com/business/index.ssf/2012/05/iconic_borallys_catering_to_be.html

Cleveland development experiencing renewed momentum as more people move downtown This is the video I was talking about I know it was posted here earlier... http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/news/local_news/cleveland_metro/Cleveland-development-experiencing-renewed-momentum-as-more-people-move-downtown CLEVELAND - When Cassia Curtis recently moved from Columbus to downtown Cleveland, she fell in love with the city. She noticed right away there's a lot to do within walking distance of her downtown apartment. In the last decade, the number of people living downtown soared from 5,000 to 11,000. Many apartments have waiting lists. New apartments are going up and older buildings are being renovated to keep up with demand. "A lot of residents have said they've been looking for things to do in the evening. There's a lot of foot traffic. There's a lot of people who live downtown looking for new and exciting things to do so we're really happy about it," said Colossal Cupcakes owner Kelly Kandah. "We're about to hit the threshold where downtown Cleveland is going to continue to boom and grow," added Curtis. Marinucci has said that 20,000 people living downtown would truly draw more investors like retailers and major grocery stores to line up.

The only other new restaurant I can think of is Nexxus coffee (and the Tilted Kilt if that counts as Prospect). I'll try to find the video and re post it

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Does anyone know if RTA will be announcing plans to overhaul or at least renovate the red line trains like they did to the blue/green line? The trains imo are past their shelf life and pushing 30 years old, I feel that the red line could use some new and innovative styled trains. This is necessary in my opinion because of all this new life being put into the east side along with these new rapid stations it would be nice to have new trains to go with it.

Aren't there supposed to be other restaurants on Prospect? I remember seeing a story about it on News Channel 5 but I can't think of how many are opening and which type of stores. Either way Prospect should look 100 times better pretty soon.

Might make more sense to post this question in the RTA thread. More people with knowledge might see it. Can't find it

Does anyone know the status of the town homes on Superior right across from Langston Hughes library? They were getting built about 2 years ago but all of a sudden stopped, did they run out of funding or are they planning on continuing the development?
