Kent / Kent State University: Development and News
They really need to re-do Taylor Hall because for an Architecture building it is REALLY old and disgusting looking as an Architecture student I hate going through it because of how bad it looks I always have said that the AED building should have a cutting edge design and should really get peoples attention in a good way...this isn't doing it. This is just a prime example of how bad the brutalist designs were

As a KSU student I can say this was a terribly executed idea. The plaza was designed by the same people who did Arizona States plaza and they specialized in creating designs that create a "wind tunnel". While this is good for Arizona State to have a wind tunnel more wind is definitely not needed at Kent State because it's windy enough already. So now when you walk through the walkway past the Kiva a HUGE gust of wind just hits you and in the winter seasons this absolutely sucks...bad design choice by KSU

But not too swamped to be reading UrbanOhio? ;) Keep studying, especially your spelling and use of capitalization! Sorry -- it was there. I .... could .... not .... resist.... Lol I'm fine with capitalization and spelling but sometimes I just feel the urge to capitalize some letters that don't need caps....kind of like a habit I guess. I do admit I misused to because I should of put two but hey we all make mistakes. 8-)

Cleveland: Perk Park Renovation
AMAZING park and it kind of answers the downtown residents request for more/better green space it looks so modern and urban and fits in well with the setting (now public square needs to be re done) Only sad part is the redevelopment only picked up steam basically after a murder :| but regardless still beautiful!!

No renderings yet. Just massings and some examples from other cities. Here's what RTA presented at a public meeting recently.... http://www.riderta.com/usercontent/file/WSTC_PublicMeeting_11.pdf OOOOOOHHH!!! This is the Warehouse District project that has all of this controversy behind it about should they put a bus station in a thriving nightlife scene....well if they are going to add residential (and the building looks reasonably tall) then I'm for it because Downtown Cleveland has a residential shortage beginning to occur right now...(Side Note: Look at all of those parking lots in one area that is TERRIBLE) :x :|

Look I'm all for preserving buildings but the Wolfe building has been empty for 14 years with no plan to redevelop it so now it sits looking decrepit taking away from the vibrant look going on sometimes its good to keep historic buildings (May Co., Arcade Etc.) but this one has to go it looks too beat up and seems like if saved it will continue to sit empty and take away from future development....so bye bye Wolfe Building :shoot:

I hate how FCE is so involved and active in developing other cities but when it comes to Cleveland they do NOTHING they can't even get relevant stores in Tower City it's a shame really and it always baffles me. :-o

Wow a nationwide prototype?! :-o 60's and 70's architecture may be the ugliest era of architecture I've seen (Ex. The old Ameritrust Tower on 9th) :|

For some reason I believe CSU will Tear Down the Science and Research Center and build up something brand new in its place because it's their land which allows the cost to build to be cheaper. I don't see a problem in moving them to a new state of the art building which would allow them to do the best research possible. I also don't mind tearing down a college hall for something new maybe because I wasn't born when it went up so I have no attachment to it. Now tearing down other downtown historic buildings is a different story.....(Side note I wish the owners of Double Tree hotel would have torn down and rebuilt their downtown hotel because that thing is UGLY reminds me of Viking Hall) :|

Cleveland: Filling in Euclid Avenue
So after Ernst and Young, and Tucker and Ellis move to the building in the flats, and since Huntington basically moved their headquarters to the old 200 Public Square building.....do you think the old Huntington building on 9th and Euclid will be emptied out and residential will be created there? I mean it makes sense because Cleveland needs new residential since every apartment is full and there is no point of letting that massive structure sit unoccupied. On a side note does anyone know the fate of the key center? I know it's on Superior but I'm just curious thanks!
