  1. I've heard the liquor store is moving.
  2. No front-facing balconies? A significant percentage of new construction buildings in OTR from the last 10-15 years have them. I'm surprised none of the large developers opposed that.
  3. I think in some ways the novelty has worn off but I don't think it was really any more corporate than the previous years. Being so spread out did make it very challenging to see everything, but it also spread out the crowds which was a positive. It is clearly quite a challenging event to pull off and was not perfect. Still, I had a blast and everyone I talked to did as well.
  4. It appears to be on pause right now.
  5. I completely agree. However, what the prosecution will have to prove is that the specifics of the conversations went beyond that. Did PG overtly offer to help in exchange for a donation? Or did he ever threaten the reverse? It is understood that campaign donations buy access. Of course a politician is going to take phone calls from their biggest supporters. The question is whether the prosecution can prove that, for example, PG lobbied the port authority on behalf of a specific developer because that developer (or undercover FBI agent) contributed to his campaign and that PG solicited the donation with the promise to do so. Whatever PG said to the undercover agent - was it an overt promise to assist or a general assertion that he is supportive of development? The FBI certainly has a track record of entrapment, and PG's team seems to also be arguing that the US Attorney doesn't really understand campaign finance law.
  6. I'm surprised there isn't more pushback on closing off Logan.
  7. The key is to do it before you know you are under investigation! As a general data management practice, I drop my phone in a hot tub every 6 months.
  8. Not surprising in the context of the COVID restaurant apocalypse and all the new hotels probably eating into its private event business. That said, I always heard that Montgomery Inn had a very sweet deal down there.
  9. Ultimate operates out of a different building.
  10. I'm with @Ram23 here. The timing of the "like" makes a world of difference. Criticizing Sundermann for supporting Trump is extremely valid. Posting it without context, implying it was contemporaneous with the events of January 6 is misleading. I also generally question these screenshots when it shows that an individual liked a tweet. Since you can change your name on twitter, how do you validate if it was the real "@voteSundermann" who liked the tweet, or someone who temporarily changed their name to "Betsy Sundermann"? I'm genuinely curious about how that works.
  11. There isn't a mechanism to temporarily step down other than an agreement with the attorney general, is there? I know that Winkler has the power to remove from office as well, but is that also a suspension or a permanent removal? Either he resigns and allows his dem colleagues to nominate a replacement or he leaves it up to Winkler.
  12. I don't think it is as simple as that either. Sheriff is more of a "down ticket" race than Prosecutor. She tracked with the rest of the party against an opponent with weak name ID. The Deters-Rucker race was high profile and, as Jason Williams wrote in his column, defined by Deters as "law and order" vs. "social justice." Deters is certainly a brand in Hamilton County, like Dusty Rhodes (and to some extend Rob Goering who also outperformed the party) with crossover appeal. Despite some old scandals, he runs a relatively uncontroversial shop and has strong media instincts. In a time with relatively high anxiety, it makes sense that a majority of voters would go with something that feels like the safe choice.
  13. ^Unsaid in this article is whether the homeowners are also getting a tax abatement. I assume they are. In which case they are still probably paying less per year, inclusive of the assessment, than similarly priced homes without an abatement in the city.
  14. In this case I would guess it is because Thunderdome's restaurants have a fairly strong brand when it comes to food. 4EG not so much. Maplewood cooking up some Eagle fried chicken on the side - great. Keystone making burgers - meh.
  15. Does North American Properties allow that in their other buildings?
