Cincinnati: Mayor John Cranley
^ Wasn't there a considerable crime drop across the country in the 90s? I am not sure Qualls can own that considering she was a weak mayor. On the other hand, if crime shot up during her tenure, it would probably get thrown in her face - so I suppose she might as well take credit.

^ The Joseph family (Joseph Auto Group) owns the big lot between 7th and 8th. The church could own the smaller lot adjacent to the church.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Wow, talk about not wanting to make any money. They should stay greasy and unshaven at home then! That's strange. The cab companies I usually call end shifts at 7am. Towne taxi. Also once you are in the cab, they can't kick you out and have to take you where you want to go. A taxi driver told me when I call for a ride from, say, northside going to downtown, no one will want to come get me and they will wait for a fare that wants to go to northside. However, if I call for a ride to Batavia or Blue Ash or something, they will come because they make so much more money off of the ride. He says once you get in the cab, say "oh wait, first i need to go downtown..." I haven't been ballsy enough to pull this maneuver myself, but I thought I would share the knowledge.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Mabley Place (formerly Tower Place Mall)
Perhaps this will be the new city-owned events space in lieu of the atrium.

The Official 700 WLW Sucks Thread!
Or, Cunningham was repeating the same "scold" over and over, while PG was calmly pointing out how the accusation of inaction was inaccurate. Gotta love how two people can listen to the same thing and have completely different perspectives on how it went down. It might just be my unparalleled annoyance by all things Willie.

The Official 700 WLW Sucks Thread!
I completely disagree with your assessment. Willie sounded shrill and PG sounded calm and reasonable. Then afterwards Willie had nothing but complementary things to say about him.

This is very true. Inclusion on the Democrat sample ballot does not yet guarantee a win in Hamilton County.

I read what you wrote and ignored it. I didn't know The Banks developer owned all of those other sites. Wait, did you mean The Banks or commercial lenders?

Cincinnati: Downtown: 580 Building
I would argue that Fountain Place's location is only marginally better and that the underground parking is a massive advantage. I am curious about the cost comparison between new construction on top of an existing building (that was built to support the further expansion) and converting offices into apartments.

^So the banks will conspire to prevent a majority of these projects?

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Former SCPA / Historic Woodward Redevelopment
True, but snap is a postage stamp, and the athletic club is men only. I wonder how the gym at Adams landing does. On a separate note, how great are those rookwood water fountains? I call a unit that incorporates one!

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
Possibly. I live in the area and I haven't seen them do anything suspicious, but I will keep my eyes peeled.

Hipsters
Check this out: I have very very non-hipster friends who will say things like "I'm going out in OTR tonight so I am wearing my hipster outfit!" This is done and said with total sincerity, without a hint of irony.

What if someone contracted to run a for-profit gym there?

They put that patch up months ago. Now that I think about it, I noticed it just a couple days before the initial hotel announcement.

Secretary of State John Husted
The county boards each have 2 democrats and 2 republicans. This was a perfect example of the Republicans screwing up - they voted against extending early voting in urban counties (which meant Husted came in and broke the tie to limit) and voted for extending hours in the heavily red counties. The democrats were consistent and voted for early voting across the board. As far as the ruling goes - I have skimmed it and plan to really dive in soon. My current opinion is that Husted has been consistent in how he wanted to run the election and the attacks on him have been partisan and unfair. No one seems to be attacking Secretaries of State in straight blue or red states, and I know Ohio isn't way behind the curve on early voting and provisional ballots.

Secretary of State John Husted
Per his office, he was attempting to comply with Judge Marbley's ruling from earlier in the week. The entire system was in flux because of the many lawsuits. A last minute order was inevitable. You can disagree with his point of view - which I personally do on some of the issues - but all of this should have been settled months if not years ago. Again, you can disagree with the way he wanted to run the election, but it would be disingenuous to label his actions "dirty tricks." The ad hominem attacks are useless to the debate.

Riddle me this... Can I vote for more than one judge? Do I have to fill in the entire box for my vote to count? Voting can be complex, admittedly. That is why anyone is allowed to bring help or ask for help.

In practice the poll worker helps the illiterate voter fill out the form. Just as someone can help them vote. I understand that it is reasonable to put the onus on the pollworker, i just don't see why it is "evil" the other way around.
-
Secretary of State John Husted
This is the form, correct? My point is you don't need any training to fill this out correctly.

Just as there is nothing in the directive that disenfranchised voters.
