  1. I agree. I went to Columbus State to get my AA degree so I could transfer to OSU and it was a very wise decision. Not only that, but my parents saved a whole bunch of money by sending me there instead of OSU!!!
  2. There are a few areas close to Dublin that may fit what you are talking about. Off of Henderson Road and Bethel Roads, where Sawmill Road begins, there resides an exclusive cluster of homes (which I find very surprising, because that area is not known for its upscale housing choices!). Anyways, there are streets around there, called Squires Ridge, Squirrel Bend, and a few others which have very large homes. If it is not this area, then I know there are some rather large homes of off Dublin Road immediately south of Olde Towne Dublin. Hope this helps. If not, try the Franklin County Auditors website of Franklin County Real Estate. That site lists pretty much every home, as well as relevant information, in the county.
  3. As a Republican, I wish the upcoming candidate(s) would embrace the idea of streetcars. I think we need to get Paul Weyrich in here (I think thats his name)!!! I still support the idea of having streetcars, light rail, and/or commuter rail over buses any day!
  4. Dumb question, but is the courthouse the tall black building with the pointed top or the much smaller white building? I always get the two confused. Besides, the black building looks much better than the shorter white one.
  5. The best views of columbus are from I-670 east coming from I-70, I-70 east coming from Broad Street, and OH 315 south coming from OSU. Just my personal opinion. Also, kind of a dumb fact I heard is that the Rhodes Tower was supposed to be 150 feet taller before the planners decided to make the building flat on top. Sorry to get off topic.
  6. Nice pictures. I was coming home from a friends house last night in German Village and I decided to take a drive up Front Street into downtown and saw the Lazarus Building. I really like the way it looks now; I even noticed some lights on the Town Street side that changed colors every few seconds, kinda like the top of the AEP Building. Also, I got a new digital camera for Christmas and I want to go downtown sometime to take some pics. Where are some good, and, perhaps cheap, places to park my car for a while? Any other advice on taking pictures downtown would be greatly appreciated.
  7. The way to deal with people like that is to act snooty too! I went to stores like Hermes and their ilk in Paris (when I was there on a family vacation) and that seems to be the way they are told to act. Just go in their dressed in nice clothes, with a shopping bag or two from another designer store, and act like you own the world and the sales people arent all that bad. Although, I must say that I like the "look but dont touch unless you ask" approach. We need to take that approach in American retail. Too many people just love to fondle my stores fine merchandise and never really want to buy; if you ask to look and dont buy thats cool with me, just be nice about it yah hear!
  8. I guess the Cleveland market took a big hit, but then again you have a few stores that Columbus and Cincy dont such as Lacoste, Sony Style, and Hermes.
  9. Cleveland doesnt have Vittadini, Benetton, Hollister, Disney Store or Urban Outfitters? I find that kind of surprising. A little bit off topic, but I heard the other day at my job at Easton, that Columbus may be getting a Gucci store or free-standing Louis Vuitton store.
  10. how did Cleveland get that Manolo place? I only thought those stores were located in cities like New York or London or Paris. No offense against Cleveland or anything, but still.
  11. Im surprised you don't consider Donna Karan and MCM high end. Where I work now, we had a selection of Donna Karan shoes for about $600 and MCM bags for around $500. But then again, most people in America have never really heard of MCM, but they are pretty big in Germany and Europe. They do have some very nice stuff by the way.
  12. would macys ever want to carry some of the high-end brands that marshall fields had in chicago? or would they rather focus on more "middle class" brands? also, are the macys stores in cincy better/nicer than the ones in columbus? i was also looking through an old issue of Columbus Monthly from 1989, the year City Center Mall opened, and it said that Lazarus use to carry high end brands like Armani, MCM, Escada, Anne Klein, Donna Karan, and so on. what the hell happened???
  13. Is the streetcar proposal/plan dead? If so, thats a shame!
  14. I think he is thinking about Seattle's elevated rail line. I think it has worked there because it is connected to the Seattle Center(?) which has museums, the Space Needle, and other cultural sites. Also, I looked up information on Paul Weyrich and he is the type of conservative I like! Its nice to see that there is at least one other conservative out there who believes in rail transit. Honestly, I would love to see the next Republican presidential candidate talk about improving rail transit in America and how important and vital it is to our future!
  15. To me, it seems that some people forgot that before cars and freeways were the norm, both conservatives and Republicans, as well as liberals and Democrats rode streetcars, trains, trolleys, buses, and so on to get to where they needed to go. I like my car and freeways, but you know what, it would be nice not to always have to take the the interstate to where you need to go!
  16. I think that Columbus does a pretty good job lighting up at night. LeVeque is obviously one of the best, as the colors change with the time of year. Nationwide also does a good job; they even had a special "Go Bucks" lighting before the big game. The Supreme Court Building is also very pretty. The Franklin County Courthouse also does a nice job lighting up at night; I think it even won some award or something because it had one of the best lighting jobs in the nation or it was the company that did the lighting that won the award.
  17. A little off topic, but why did Tiffany's choose Cincy for its first Ohio location? No offense to Cincy or anything like that. Just curious.
  18. Is the Tiffany's at Tower Place still open? Does anyone know if they have considered moving to Columbus or Cleveland?
  19. That lady must really not like Downtown Columbus or streetcars!
  20. I heard there going to be done with the 71 interchange this summer! That seems kind of hard to believe but they must be doing a lot of the work at night. Although I saw a big area of dirt and construction vehicles near the beer plant while driving on 270 east near 71.
  21. The new pavement and interchange have been open for some time now and its nice to see the improvement in traffic flow. I am excited to see how the project will look when they finish it!
  22. I know that the Nordstroms at Easton, as well as at other certain stores, added a designer section with Burberry, Armani, and the like. I am sure the Cincy store will have the same, since I am assuming they are only adding these lines in selected markets were there is the "need" for designer clothing lines, just like what the Saks at Polaris did when they opened up the Chanel boutique.

Same here! I am more of the fire and brimstone Republican. I live in the suburbs, but their is something about the "urban" lifestyle/culture that interest me. Believe me, living in the suburbs, while it has its good points, is not the most exciting thing. I like Mayor Coleman because he has been so instrumental in redeveloping downtown Columbus which I see as beneficial to everyone and party neutral. Outside of this area, Mayor Coleman isn't quite my cup of tea. But thats besides the point.
  24. Was I confusing this building project with another one when I said something about a 20-story tower?
  25. What happened to the 20-story tower? I don't know if I like the "Jenga" design. But thats just my opinion.
