Columbus: General Transit Thread
I hope that the name of the multimodal transit center wouldn't be "Multimodal Transit Center." I think that is the name of one of the stops on Houston's light rail. What names would you all suggest for not only the transit center but the stops in general?

Columbus: Arts News & Discussion
I love the Columbus Museum of Art! I dont care what anyone says, it is the best. Believe me, I have been to museums in London, Berlin, and Italy. But to me, in a deep heart-felt way, the Columbus Musuem of Art is the best. Just my two cents.

Where you went to school, what do you do?
I am interested in getting a degree in geography and maybe economics. what can I do with a degree in geography? I currently work at National City and am wondering if that can help out in any way or with an agency like MORPC, ODOT, etc...? any help would be appreciated.

What Columbus needs
Perhaps the new condos at 8 On The Square will be home to a future Tiffany and Co. or Cartier!? Who knows? It has an ideal location at Broad and High Streets, across from the Statehouse and surrounded by various businessess. Not only that, but maybe the transformation of the Lazarus bldg. will spur some upscale retail development. Or Mills Co. can sell City Center to Nationwide and they can turn it into the destination mall it is supposed to be for Columbus and Ohio!

What Columbus needs
I also read that. I agree with a lot of the suggestions. I liked the person who said we need more God! Just expressing my agreement with her with regards to my faith. In addition to better mass transit, one thing that caught my eye, oddly enough, was the part on shopping. I do think that Columbus does need better shoppping. I mean, how did Cincy and Indy get a Tiffany and Co.? And three more H&M's will be opening up in the Cleveland area. I think it will only be a matter of time before we start to get more high-caliber stores. Having stores like Bloomingdales, Louis Vuitton, etc. will definately set Columbus apart. But then again, we have Ohio's only Cole-Haan, Henri Bendel, and Von Maur (not to mention in times gone by, Ohio's only Jacobsons, Lord and Taylor, and Gucci). I could be wrong about the Jacobons. Not only that, but my girlfriend told me that Chanel opened up a boutique in the Saks at Polaris and Nordstroms added a designer department to the Easton store. She said it seems like the transformation is beginning.

Cleveland: Retail News
I find it surprising that Cleveland does not have a bebe or Cole Haan. Columbus is the only city in the state that has a Cole Haan. Personally, I think both Columbus and Cleveland should have a Tiffany and Company. Cincy has a Kenneth Cole but not Columbus and Cleveland. Hopefully Columbus and Cleveland can and will get some of these stores. What Ohio needs is a Bloomingdales and Cleveland or Columbus could use a Barney's Co-Op. Perhaps time will tell and perhaps one or both, Columbus and Cleveland, can get these stores. It's only a matter of time.

Columbus: Interstate 270/OH 161 NeXT Project
ODOT already opened some of the new freeway lanes and ramps in the area: 161 westbound between Little Turtle Way and Sunbury Road (new freeway lanes) Little Turtle Way to 161 westbound (new ramp) I-270 northbound to 161 westbound (new flyover ramp opening in late September)

Columbus: General Business & Economic News
Hey everyone, I work for DSW!!! I think it would be sweet if they moved to Downtown Columbus.

Cincinnati: Macy's
Personally, I think the reason sales have gone down is because Macys/Lazarus does not carry as much nice merchandise as it once did. My parents told me that Lazarus use to sell Armani, Donna Karan, and a few other high end brands. It seems like once Federated got a better grip, they took those away. I wonder how people in Chicago will react once they take away the Marshall Fields name!

Upper Arlington, Ohio
I used to live in Upper Arlington, near the Country Club. I lived just off of Coventry Road. The "nicest" area or Upper Arlington is south of Zollinger Road. But the nicest homes are by the Country Club and off of Tremont Road, Cambridge Blvd., Arlington Ave., Fairfax Road, and Lane Ave. Jim Tressel lives on Tremont Road I believe. But overall, very nice pictures of one of Columbus original and in my opinon, nicest suburbs.

Columbus: Innerbelt News
I agree. Having an 8-lave boulevard Downtown is just too much in my opinon. Wouldn't this proposed boulevard be almost as wide as Polaris Parkway is from about I-71 to Old State Road? Besides, I think that the caps would look much better. On a bit of a side note, has anyone else noticed that there is an arch over East Long Street,at I-71, that says "King-Lincoln"? It looks very nice!

i want him to win just because. i dont hate gay people. although i may not approve of their lifestyle, just as some may not approve of me being a conservative Christian, gay people are free to live as they want and are entitled to their own opinion.

Columbus: Innerbelt News
Personally, I think they should just cap portions of the freeway, so that both sides will be happy. I would rather see caps than a grand boulevard. Just my two cents.

NYC 2004 RNC Convention Photos
I was at the convention. I enjoyed the convention, but stepping outside was like going into a war zone. But New York was nice. Trips to Ground Zero, the Empire State Building, Saks, Bloomingdales, Fifth Avenue, Central Park! Great convention and trip! I hope Columbus has a shot at getting the 2008 RNC, but we have some pretty tought competition.

Strangers on the Train:
driving has never been a constitutional right. driving, as my parents told me, it a God-given privilege, plain and simple. I cant believe some people will drive 90 minutes or 36 miles just to get to work, especially in a Ford Expedition! I like my car, but thats sad when people start to get choked up about not being able to drive, especially in Chicago. I have driven in Chicago and theres nothing to be choked up about, especially on the Dan Ryan

New Albany: Developments and News
columbusguy20 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIts cool. Quite a few people think that about New Albany. Personally, I think Upper Arlington and Bexley have more character, but thats probably because they are much more established areas.

New Albany: Developments and News
columbusguy20 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionGood for New Albany! But bad for Columbus! I can attest to the home building part. Especially all the ones being built by the Country Club.
