Beavercreek: The Greene Town Center
Makes sense. I didn't know that the Saks in Beachwood has been there for 30 years. How long has the Saks in Cincy been in business. Speaking of Saks, they just opened a new Chanel boutique in the Columbus location, so I hope that is a sign that there is demand and that they are doing good business

Columbus: General Transit Thread
I'm sure the Columbus Transit Company was run much, much better! Didn't Columbus have streetcars up until the 50s or 60s. Imagine lines on High, Broad, Cleveland, Livingston, Main, and Morse! A lot of cities around the world still have streetcars, such as Germany, France, Italy, many countries in Easter Europe! Hell, I would rather ride a streetcar than a COTA bus anyday

I hope that the Saks in Columbus does well. We have the population and the money to support it or at least I hope to hell that we do! If not a Neimans, I'll take a Bloomingdales. Why can't Les lure them to Columbus!

Has COTA studied the feasability of streetcars?

Columbus: Hotels, Conventions and Tourism News & Info
I do have to be realistic, I mean there are much larger cities being invited to host it. But if Columbus doesn't get it, no biggie

Columbus: Hotels, Conventions and Tourism News & Info
Yes!!!!!!!!!!! My party will finally(hopefully) be coming to Columbus. The one in New York was nice, but it would be much better for Republicans to be in a part of the country where we are liked. But it will be good for the city not only in terms of money but in image!!! This would give Columbus the chance to show off our always improving Downtown, great neighborhoods, restaurants, shopping, people and cultural scene!

Beavercreek: The Greene Town Center
Why is Neiman Marcus interested in Cleveland? Is it location, number of people, the amount of income? Cleveland already has a Hermes, its within another store, but its not a free standing location. Besdies, Hermes is way too damn expensive! I heard that they have handbags for $25,000!!! For that much money, that damn handbag better be able to do the dishes, do my homework, do my job for me and get me a new car!!!

I wish we could get those stores in Ohio! Columbus, Dayton or Cincy should get a Burberry, Louis Vuitton(free-standing), Cartier or Bulgari, Neiman Marcus, Gucci, Armani, and Zara. At one time Columbus did have a Ralph Lauren and Gucci, but they closed! Damn it!!! We now have a Saks, Nordstroms, Von Maur, Henri Bendel, H&M, Cole Haan, and Intisimissi(an Italian lingere store whose only free standing store is at Easton, I think.) I hear that Neiman Marucs may come to Tuttle Crossing or Polaris or Bloomingdales!!!

42-foot Jesus to be erected at Solid Rock Church
its kind of like the one in brazil, almost. i like this one. its different and i think it makes quite a statement about the church and its mission to get people to come to its services

Ohio's County Courthouse Pictures
my favorite was franklin county's. its the tallest in the state and the most modern. i have seen pictures of the old one and that blew me away. it would have been nice to keep the old one and still build the 400 foot one. it looks especially impressive going north on 71 from greenlawn avenue or going east on 70 from central avenue/mound street

Most expensive/Least expensive home for sale in your zip code
i hope thats a typo. for that much money, i would want the entire city of new albany or at least a 40 story building in downtown columbus with a 5 level penthouse suite! there are lots in the new albany farms subdivision that are over $1 million themselves, just for the land! they are building quite a few new homes by the country club on southfield road and off of lambton park road, near stannage pass and molland court. i am sure most of these will go for $1 million, give or take

Columbus: Huntington Park (Clippers ballpark)
why not build a streetcar line thru that area, going along nationwide blvd., neil ave., and high st.? i dont think it would cost as much as building light rail, but i could be wrong. if they did, i dont like the name of it, a multi modal transit center/station! how bout something like Columbus Central, High St., Nationwide, or Union Station! just an idea

Most expensive/Least expensive home for sale in your zip code
in 43054, New Albany, my hood. Thanks for representing CMH_Downtown Least Expensive: New Albany, OH 43054 $147,900 2 Bed, 2.5 Bath 1,037 Sq. Ft. You can also do a property search of homes in Franklin County. Les' house is by far one of the most expenisive I have ever seen. He pays close to $1,000,000 in taxes and his house is valued at about $47,000,000. Les lives in the New Albany Farms subdivision, along with the Rahals, Schottensteins, Kesslers and Wasserstroms. I live just down the street from him off of Lambton Park Road and our homes look tiny compared to those in New Albany Farms, but still as nice! If anyone is interested, go to www.newalbanyrealty.com to search for homes in New Albany.

Furniture in Columbus
Try Pier One! They are like Crate and Barrel, but much more affordable and in my opinon much, much better. I have only been into Crate and Barrel once and that was enough. Im not into the whole yuppie/guppie crap thing. If interested, you could try the Decerators Show Case show sponsored by the Columbus Museum of Art. It was held in everyone's and my favorite suburb, New Albany!!! But it may lean towards tradtional taste, so I'm not sure.

Raising awareness of urban living
I agree with you about people not realizing what type of urban living is available here in Ohio, or to be more specific, Columbus. I've been to Europe many times, my parents lived there until about 1983 or so. Most people there live in urban areas, and by that I mean central city areas. You dont find many people who live in "suburbs", or at least our defintion of it here in the States. We still have family over there (in Weisbaden/Frankfurt am Main, Germany) and every time they come to visit us, they are always amazed at how many people live in the suburbs and how much sprawl there is. I live in New Albany and they are amazed that we live in a pretty large house have neighbors who have (huge) estates, lawns, etc... In Germany it seems like, people with huge homes live out in the country or have a villa of some type. I think a good way to get people to know is thru word of mouth and somehow advertising the advantages of urban living. Also, I think it also depends on some people willingness to search for information, I mean there is only so much that these developers can do. I would maybe like to live in an urban setting such as Downtown, Victorian Village, Campus area, German Village, Franklin Park, Harrison West. Maybe my mom will once I move out and get married, then maybe me and my wife will.

Columbus: General Transit Thread
Why not try trams/streetcars? They used to run in Columbus and I'm sure they could fit the lines onto High St., Broad St., Main St., Cleveland Ave., Livingston Ave., Morse Rd., 161, Westerville Rd., Central Ave., Harrisburg Pike, etc... But thats just my opinion and I dont know for sure if this would be a better option.

Columbus: General Transit Thread
Instead of light rail, how about streetcar service. I heard that they are doing that in D.C. Would streetcar service cost less or more than light rail? Columbus must have one of the worst public transit systems in the country for a major city. How did it get so bad? Hell, we should just create a regional transportation system for Franklin, Licking, Delaware, Union, Madison and Pickaway counties.

Are you a METROSEXUAL?
the hairier europeans are the southern and mediteranean europeans i.e. the italians, spanish, portugese, greeks but i dont mind having body hair. i've had people in the past say that having body hair is sexy; some but not a whole lot and if it is timmed properly and not all sticking out and all. it also depends on the body you have too. like me, i have muscles(pecs, some abs) and women find that comnbination very attractive. but overall i dont mind body hair, it is after all, God given :-D

Where do you live?
New Albany, Ohio! The home of Les Wexner. Before moving to New Albany, me and my family lived in Clintonville. I do like New Albany, but I do miss Clintonville. It was a very nice area (around Royal Forest Blvd, Dominon Blvd) with access to lots of stuff (Downtown, OSU, OH 315, I-71, High Street, Whetstone Park). When I tell people I live in New Albany, a lot of them think I live by Wexner. He and other people live in New Albany Farms, with homsites over $500,000 and homes well over $1.5 million! But I do live very close to him, off of Lambton Park Road, which is also full of million dollar homes. The house I live in though did not cost that much! My parents didn't need a house at that price, since its just me, my mom, dad and pets! I also wanted to know what people on this site think of New Albany. Love it, Hate it, Unsure???

Why doesn't Columbus's southside grow as fast as the northside?
I think people on the south side of Columbus are very lucky. Though there is traffic, it is nothing like it is in New Albany, Westerville, Northeast Columbus, Worthington, Dublin, etc... It is also much closer to the country side, which is quite nice if I might say so myself! Who knows, the south side may be poised for big development, but if so, I hope they can keep it under control and not let it get out of control like here on the north side.
