natininja FTW! Can't wait to have fights with other cities over whose streetcar is better.

"My sprawl is bigger than your sprawl, we've got more houses and cars, SING IT!"* Can we get back to the streetcar, please? *If you get this modified reference, I owe you a beer.

What scared me was the complimentary quote from Finney. It's like we're in Bizarro World right now.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
It's no surprise that the Letters To The Editor section on the Enquirer's website has letters ranging on the streetcar, including this gem from a Sharonville resident: "Crime in OTR will kill streetcar" http://cincinnati.com/blogs/letters/2013/12/20/crime-in-otr-will-kill-streetcar/

Cincinnati: Shooting itself in the foot, just for pleasure. I could go on a rant, but I won't. This whole saga where we now have a mayor who is running what he thinks is a dictatorship (reminds me of Kasich when he was elected) is troubling and makes me ill. As a now non-resident of the city (I'm now in Amelia) I want to see the city succeed but this current Council is making it pretty damn difficult.

So... who is going to pay for Cranley's trip to DC? Wouldn't a phone accomplish the same task?

Oxford / Miami University: Development and News
What ink said. I was back home in Oxford last month. The only thing that sticks out in my mind is the BP gas station being sold and torn down. As for uptown, that's about it. Oh, just remembered. For us old-timers Hole In The Wall bar is back and the Princess theater will reopen sometime soon with upgrades from the new local owners. But this is now veering off-topic so I'll hush my mouth.

John Schneider said this a while back in this thread (I don't know if it survived the UO crash a while back, but it bears repeating): "By the way, a well-connected Cincinnatian said this to me today about our upcoming mayoral election: We have a 39 year-old who thinks like a 60 year-old running against a 60 year-old who thinks like a 39 year-old. I think that's a perfect description of Cranley v. Qualls. Make it viral."

Someone might need a little time away from the Twitter. Wow.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
...Uh, okay. Please elaborate on that point. This appears to be a written response to a written question (or at least something that was said in a closed interview) so it gets published with no opportunity to rebut his response. This is why we have debates, and I believe there is one coming up very soon. Somebody should ask him in a debate forum...specifically which parts of the streetcar budget can be reallocated for highway paving? I was being sarcastic and asking a rhetorical question at the same time. Any follow-up from him would be nonsense regardless.

One John Cranley, from The Enquirer: http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20130915/NEWS0106/309150057/City-paving-work-priority-both-candidates ...Uh, okay. Please elaborate on that point.

I'm surprised no one else has mentioned Mr. Deatrick's interview with Cunningham on WLW today. Deatrick was very measured in his responses, while Cunningham was grilling him pretty good. Cunningham - of course - had to use the magic 'B' word a few times and even wrapped up the interview saying, "Yup, it's a BOONDOGGLE." Kind of a 'meh' interview, regardless.

Amazon was slamming the streetcar again, for the three-minute period I heard. COA$T's twitter feed wasn't mentioned by name, but all the negative tweets about streetcars (the smell, homeless people, et cetera) were mentioned.

Cincinnati Enquirer
You know it's a slow news day for the Cincinnati Enquirer when the main story on the website - at this very moment - is a rerun of a 40 year old Brady Bunch episode that airs tonight. That's HARD HITTING news right there. You've got to be freaking kidding me.

Cincinnati Enquirer
The Enquirer would hate me because I don't subscribe (and know how to get around the paywall after 20 articles have been read) and use AdBlock on that ad-infested site when I do visit it.

Some new items to note... The Princess Theater has closed: http://oxfordtownie.com/2012/11/27/the-princess-theater-has-gone-dark-townies-of-oxford-save-our-princess/ According to a just opened Twitter account, Panera will be opening in Oxford in February 2013: https://twitter.com/PaneraOxford Location unknown, but I'd assume Stewart Square. Speaking of the Square, a Hampton Inn just opened there: http://www.miamistudent.net/news/community/hampton-inn-opens-in-oxford-1.2958792

I'm really loving (read as sarcasm) the slugs at the end of feature articles for the writers. Here's Barry's: Let the jokes commence.
