  1. I don't see P&G building a tower anytime soon. As they are in the midst of a big layoff, sales are flat in the us, and they are on a major cost cutting strategy.
  2. They have been doing some what appears to be core sampling on this site for quite some time. Maybe the past year.
  3. Very relevant article on the current discussion. I think this company deserves a lot more support for what they have done for this city and what they want to do to make it a great city. In a Q&A, W&S chief talks about his vision, image, and why he's so bullish on the region http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20120812/BIZ/308120017/Barrett-likes-view?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|FRONTPAGE|p
  4. ^ i was always always under the impression W&S was planning on building a new headquarters in that area. Was that ever a possibly? or do they have plans for a new HQ's in another spot? Or were they never planning a new HQ? High rise condos seem like a real tough sell right now, even in a couple of years from now.
  5. Kind of related. The garage next door where the proposed hotel is going has a sign on it saying it would be closed soon. Not sure what the date is, i saw it from far away. Interesting through they had the same sign up a little over a year ago and then took it down. Now it is back up. Maybe the hotel has secured financing
  6. Which is a dumb decision when all factors are taken into account. I don't like W&S bullying them anymore than the next guy, but it's almost like they are turning down a ton of cash because they want to be a thorn in the city's side, like the Drop-Inn. Their decision not to sell, then move, expand, upgrade, and help more people is mind boggling and can't be anything other than an anti-gentrification stance based on some outdated social policy of the 1970's. Wow. What an utter lack of compassion, and--perhaps--misunderstanding. This has nothing to do with anti-gentrification. W&S low-balled Anna Louise Inn several times in the past, offering them prices way too low for it to make since, or be responsible, for them to sell. Then, after Anna Louise Inn lined up financing to do a rehab, W&S started their bullying because they realized the Inn might be staying around for a while. Their actions have been so extreme that I doubt the board of Anna Louise would ever, ever consider selling to them--and I certainly hope they never do. Sell it to anyone else to make condos or whatever, but W&S should not be given the honor. Correct me if I am wrong, but the majority of the money for the renovation is coming from the state and the city of Cincinnati. The Inn is only paying for a small portion of the renovation. Which brings up a point we should all be concerned with, is renovating a 100 plus year old building the best use of tax dollars? or is it better to build a new modern facility maybe it would cost less and serve more people. Saving tax dollars.
  7. I don't understand why people have such an issue with W&S buying and moving the Inn. It's a win for ALL stakeholders. You increase the Tax base of Cincinnati, you have more tax money to pay for services to help the disadvantaged. And get an up to date facility to better serve the people the Inn wants to help.

^So Whats in store for the Walnut Hills Kroger?
  9. jmblec2 replied to a post in a topic in City Discussion
I think that is the purpose of the buy 25. Show Kroger there is a large demand for a quality store in the area and then they will make store improvements.

Can they save this store? WALNUT HILLS — Kevin Wright has seen it before: Kroger, the world’s largest grocery chain, closes a struggling, urban grocery store, and residents throw up their hands in protest. Wright wants to prevent that from happening here, where the Kroger store on McMillan Avenue has lost more than $5 million in the past four years. He’s leading a campaign to recruit 200 new shoppers to spend $50 a month at the store, a figure Kroger says will help the location turn a profit for the first time in years. The “Buy 25 Tuesdays” events are getting people out to Kroger twice a month to help meet the goal; they’ve made the grocer nearly $8,000 so far. http://news.cincinnati.com/article/20120805/BIZ/308050017/Can-Walnut-Hills-Kroger-saved-?odyssey=mod|newswell|text|FRONTPAGE|p
  11. The first new storefront tenant preparing to move in. Hopefully more to come soon.
  12. I think the casino does play a roll in it, but also as stated before the lack of updated hotels and more affordable price points.

There old page certainly was old and had a very old look. I do not like the functionality of it. Takes to long to read the headlines and they don't show the business headlines.

Try dunnhumbyUSA, they are always accepting resumes their website states. It basically says if they like you, they will hire you.

^ Looks to me like they are repairing it as we type.
  16. "City leaders partner with Walnut Hills to advance two-way street conversions" Plan is to start the 2-way conversion this fall. http://www.urbancincy.com/2012/07/city-leaders-partner-with-walnut-hills-to-advance-two-way-street-conversions/
  17. I don't understand why they don't lower their drink prices to like $2 for a beer, $2.50 for a mixed drink. I would have no problem paying that. Also would incentive people to come to the casino and they are within the law. Maybe once the Hype dies down, the slots will loosen up, min. bets will come down on table games, and drink prices will lower. But if they are filling the place up, they aren't going to make any changes yet.

  19. http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/blog/2012/07/why-did-jeff-ruby-close-walnut-street.html Found this article interesting, Precinct is one of my favorite Cincinnati restaurants, but sounds like Jeff is trying call a failure something else. I was not a big fan of walnut street Grille, thought the food was sub-par and overpriced. It is a great space and with all the new activity in the area i'm sure someone will move in the space soon.
  20. ^ news reported, that the owner was cited a few months ago to repair the deck (it was rotting away). Well it finally came down today. Nothing more nothing less.
  21. This is why the Browns can't fill the stands: And its pretty funny.
  22. Tell that to Cleveland who held the record for most consecutive sell outs in a row. They went 5 or 6 years selling out every game. New owner bought the team stripped it of every good player and continues to do so when a good young player is developed. This is why they now have one of the worst attendance records in the MLB. Not to mention the lowly Browns who who continue to sell out every game since the team came back yet have had only played in 1 playoff game.
