  1. This concept is pretty standard across urban cities. Strange, but not unique. I remember when I lived in San Fran for a summer during college, there was a Safeway that was always packed with singles Thursday evenings.
  2. I wonder if the HP Kroger is considering moving into a new store at Oakley Station.
  3. I think that's part of the whole McCormack Barron Salazar partnership 3CDC keeps talking about. They will run the whole thing, it's their specialty.
  4. This new group seems to also be based in DC. Hmmmm.
  5. OTR, obviously you're saying someone at 3CDC told you they aren't considering Whole Foods. You can admit it's ok :)
  6. Rode my bike up there this week. It will take a lot of work to completely clean up that area, but I'm hopeful that the previously announced Model Group plans for 30 some market rate apartments across from the Kroger will make a dent. Walnut Hills and Corryville should both really be the next busy, strong neighborhood business districts. Corryville has seen a lot of investment in the last 2 years. Let's hope Walnut Hills gets the same.

Not sure if someone who is just moving here for the first time would consider buying. I would advise AGAINST buying immediately for someone who has never lived in the area.
  8. I remember the whole area being half historic architecture, half strip mall style fast food joints with big surface lots, but I was pretty young at the time and was hardly paying attention to urban design.
  9. Gonna be honest, everyone here says loosely where they've heard their info from. No one gets specific, but they say something. "a friend at 3cdc" "a friend at the city" "a friend at Dunnhumby" but lately you've been posting lots of "insider info" and going, I can't tell you anything it's super top secret just trust me. It's fine, just comes across a little cocky. A 3CDC-owned holding company bought the church at 12th & elm. No surprise, but I'm pretty sure you posted "I can't tell you any details but someone is buying it". 3CDC buys properties constantly and was rumored to be buying that building anyway. It didn't need to be some big thing that was super top secret. If 3CDC has said to you they aren't going to put in a Whole Foods great. If you're that certain they are the only people who could have told you that. :) so we know who did it anyway. As a friend! And to get back on topic... Last thing I've heard about Dunnhumby's site (from a friend at 3cdc) is a late november start of excavation. Basically it's all just down to finalizing design work. I've been told they are taking this VERY seriously and want it to be a high quality product.
  10. I will say I'm pretty disappointed the office component is only two floors. But I am happy it's red Brick. the residential portion is 4 different shades of brick.ugh.
  11. Ya sorry. ~1250 is about the total new home permits pulled in 2012 for the Ohio portion of our metro. The NKY amount will probably be about 400-500 (usual amount). Still, taking out the 4 areas already listed in the Ohio metro, that leaves about 450 new homes being constructed everywhere else in the Ohio portion of the metro. Infact the city is a little more than half of all of Hamilton counties new homes. Very exciting as we are only 37% of the population of the county but are just over half the new housing growth. Also, you'll find it if you search Clear Creek township Ohio
  12. ^ that's a good point.
  13. 1200 and change is the total in Ohio. NKY is usually around 400-500.
  14. Ive also heard the store Operates basically as budget neutral and they pay almost no rent due to city subsidy (same with Saks & Tiffany's).

Ehhh Northside is ok. But it's pretty cliquey and kind of dead sometimes. All of the excitement in the City right now is in OTR & Downtown. Mulberry is ok but not great. I second Ryan's recommendation of Prospect Hill. I have several single girl friends who all live on Boal or Milton in Prospect Hill (Just across Liberty from OTR and Pendleton. Just found this listing online: LIVE .5 BLOCK FROM WASHINGTON PARK !!! (MYURBANLIVING.COM) $550 1BD 600SQFT CALL 513.407.1164 FOR SHOWING. Marco Lacina | lacinainterest realestateteam, Realty Connections, Inc. | (513) 407-1164 1425 Pleasant St Apt 4, Cincinnati, OH Live .5 block from Washington Park. I know a younger girl (early 20's) who lives in that building and works at the Anchor. Don't know how nice it is, but it's in a GREAT location that is only getting better (surrounded by $200k townhomes) This could also be a good one: http://cincinnati.craigslist.org/apa/3292707700.html If she wants to go to a quieter, more stable neighborhood (rather than one that is in transition and getting better) she should choose Clifton, just make sure her apartments say Clifton Gaslight in them and are around Ludlow Ave. CUF (the "Clifton" area by UC is very college-y and a little crappy. Clifton Proper (Clifton Gaslight) is nicer, mainly graduate students, professors and families). For that area, I would recommend gaslightproperty.com as a starter.
  16. Wow- Kinda crazy. They did just buy ALL that property. Really hope they aren't speculating and just holding it. They don't have a big project history but the few things they have on there look pretty nice. Also, the address they have is of a construction company just outside of DC.
  17. My city contact said a grocery store at 5th and Race is "highly unlikely"
  18. Interesting. I haven't heard any rumors to that effect. It would be great if it's true. I've heard the city is pitching the ugly Pogue's garage for a grocery on the first floor. I hope you're right and I'm wrong though!
  19. Earnings tax increase would need to go to the voters and stands virtually 0 chance. The ADMISSIONS tax on the other hand, could be raised if there was political will and the voters approved it. Supposedly the city gets $1.6 million per % increase. It's currently at 5%. So an increase to 8% could bring in $4.8 million.
  20. Pretty big news: <b>Guess which part of town has the most home building permits? Business Courier Date: Tuesday, October 16, 2012, 2:40pm EDT</b> Through September, the city of Cincinnati leads all other jurisdictions in the region in new home building permits, according to the Home Builders Association of Greater Cincinnati. A total of 239 single-family home building permits were issued in Cincinnati through September. The No. 2 jurisdiction in the region was Union Township in Clermont County, with 235 single-family permits. Liberty Township in Butler County was third with 106 permits, and Clearcreek Township in Warren County was fourth with 100 permits. http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2012/10/16/guess-which-part-of-town-has-the-most.html
  21. Smitherman has definitively said he "will be mayor" of the city of cincinnati. You can't run for mayor and council at the same time, and I dont think he's patient enough to wait over 9 years. My guess, he runs in 2017.
  22. Ive never heard anyone say they thought it was a Cincinnati thing. Did someone suggest that here?
  23. ^ that anger is not necessary. So someone guessed wrong. Who cares.
  24. PG lives in the Emery too. So. 3 councilmembers live in OTR and one lives in the west end. If someone believes districts would be drawn that split OTR & the West end they are out of their minds. Also, everyone here should note that only one part of the city categorically "wins" by adding districts. The Westside. The Westside would probably have two districts if they are drawn by population.
  25. Can someone clarify that this is false? right? I've never even heard that before.
