Cincinnati City Council
So why doesnt the Senate or the mayor be 4 years? Also, PG is full of crap with his reasons to be against 4 year terms (he only opposes it because he knows with more money than anyone ever he will always win). He says he would rather have wards. HE WILL NEVER propose a ward map or support anyone else's proposal because the second you support a map you piss off someone. The black community strongly opposed wards the last time because there was no way wards could be drawn to where there would always be 4 African American councilmembers. The same would be true today (except at large we have 5 African American councilmembers with 3 living in the same neighborhood. Also, Qualls, Seelbach, Simpson & Sittenfeld all live in what would undoubtedly be one district.

Cincinnati Enquirer
The fact that he has been the #2 guy since 1997 means he probably won't change anything in the department.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
This is entirely the fault of John Cranley. He had been screaming the "banks property tax money" line for weeks. Enquirer bought it hook line & sinker.

Cincinnati: Downtown: W&S Condominium Project (3rd & Broadway)
Perfectly written.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
They are not in anyway "completely different". They are the same design, but these are more final and from after their meeting with the urban design review board. Essentially though it's a similar concept. I like this one better though.

Cincinnati: Oakley: Oakley Station
I am strongly of the opinion that Applebee's doesn't need an entertainment district. Oakley Station is a horrible suburban style development. Very disappointing.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
^ Totally agree. Streetcar supporters should stick to facts and ignore the city vs. suburbs attacks. Some people live in different places for whatever reason. Most people probably don't even know that we are widening 7 miles of I-75 for about $400 million

Looking forward to the bridge being replaced.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fort Washington Way Cap
This "history is always better than today" argument is getting tired and is making you sound like an angry grandpa. For OTR I agree with almost everything you're saying. For most of downtown I agree with almost everything you're saying, but for buildings over an interstate or at our front lawn as a totally new neighborhood, I wouldn't complain if a high quality structure of modern design & appropriate scale was built. NOT the Banks, they are cheap crap, but something better. More importantly lets all love each other and smile at the amazingness that is our differing opinions.

Metro Jobs 2007-2012
So the numbers are not exact, but several tends are clear: Cincy & Columbus are doing very well, the smaller metros in the north had hit bottom & are now in recovery, and Dayton & Cleveland seem to still be struggling.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
This year they passed a bill that applied ONLY to Cincinnati Metropolitan Housing Authority to force more suburbanites on the board (it was already a simple majority of suburbanites). While they aren't a municipality, it's clear this GOP state legislature has no issues trying to signal out Cincinnati for attack.

Cincinnati: Downtown: W&S Condominium Project (3rd & Broadway)
Here's the irony. Same Economics center said Streetcar will have big impact. John Barrett said he doesn't believe the study, then has the same people say his hotel would be $11 million impact. Why doesn't he study a commission on the surface lots they own north of P&G? Or on the W&S garage at 3rd & Broadway?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I've talked to friends from the city. There is no funding for Caps. Mayor will try to get $$ from Feds next year if Obama wins, still a huge "what if".

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Is anyone coming to council Monday? I've been told to expect 40-50 anti streetcar people to speak.

Cincinnati: Downtown: W&S Condominium Project (3rd & Broadway)
^ Please explain how ALI is an outdated institution? Once we have no more prime property downtown being used as surface lots. Once buildings like the Barrett & Co building are no longer sitting entirely empty with the power turned off. Once all Class C office space is converted to residential, then we can make the argument that this is incredibly valuable land that should be repurposed. How many people on here who want the ALI to leave have actually visited the building? People are making this out to be the Drop Inn shelter. ALI is apartments. you pay rent. you have a lease. yes, 25 of the 140 women who live there are in a program called "off the streets" and are leaving prostitution, but everyone else are working women. If I work 40 hours at minimum wage a week at the Wendy's on 4th street (taking home about $950 a month) and am a single woman in her 50's I'd be fortunate enough to have an option as great as the Anna Louise Inn.

^ ya!!!! That's crazy- If ANYTHING it would make sense to have the glass wall facing the river- that's where the views are and that's what people would see from afar. What is wrong with people! haha

Non-Ohio Light Rail / Streetcar News
^awesome. Reason's Famous for attacking all streetcars as stupid. Looking forward to the Cincinnati streetcar proving them wrong.

Cincinnati: Downtown: W&S Condominium Project (3rd & Broadway)
^ W&S owns several vacant parking lots & a 1960's garage. Those could all be developed before they need to go after ALI. Also, the next person who makes this bullsh*t W&S talking point "better facility" argument, please walk off a bridge. Has ANYONE heard of a new magical super building (that costs only $3 million) that ALI is going to build at a mystical location that ALI doesn't even own yet!?' 3CDC is spending $30 million ($10 million in city money) to build 3 new shelters. So, maybe they could build a building for $10 million. Why are they gonna struggle to find an extra $7 million when they have a building of their own, construction plans already drawn & permitted, grants, tax credits, etc. all lined up for their current building. The metropole comparison is horrible btw.

Cincinnati: Downtown: W&S Condominium Project (3rd & Broadway)
Have any of you even been to ALI?! Half of you don't even know what it is. It's apartments. 95% of residents pay rent. Only 5%, in the "off the streets" program are in a shelter style living, and they can only stay or a set number of weeks (25 person cap). Everyone else has their own room, bed, dresser, furniture, etc. 60% of residents are over 50. They are not trashy prostitutes. They're are low Income older women. 90% of the residents have a job. ~60% don't have cars and walk to work at fast food restaurants on either side of the river. It's a great institution that has been a major neighborhood supporter from years. They have letters of support from every non-W&S property owner around them & dozens of letters from residents in Park Place. W&S supporrted them for years until they realized the Low income housing tax credits would mean the building had to stay low income (single person making under $50,000) for 30 years. Also, we are adding 250 rooms in the Enquirer building, 140 at 21C, ~150 at the banks, ~200 at 7th & Syc and eventually another 150-250 at the Casino. And renovating the Hyatt. It's not like we NEED another hotel (they are not considering condos for ALI).

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
^ ya, I've been wondering what Jake was complaining about. I'm guessing he didn't know about the Hotel. I'm guessing hotel will be announced in 6-8 months.

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
Amazing how much better a cheap development can look with a simple peaked roof and corner turrets. It disgusts me how much this looks like the Banks. Who approved this? It's ridiculous and unnecessary. Oh well. It is the Banks. Same architect. CR Architecture, one of the most popular & prominent architects in Cincinnati. AND THEY ARE CRAP. They're about to do "Delta Flats" a 76 unit apartment development at Columbia Parkway & Delta. The community stood up to CR Architecture and Towne Properties and got them to go from three brick tones to two brick tones by hounding City Council saying they wanted something that fits into the character of the neighborhood. Way to go Columbia Tusculum!

^ ya- pretty sure that's not the appropriate legal definition. The City owns the rights of way and allows utilities, under oversight from PUCO, to exist in the rights of way.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Hey everyone. As things have been tougher for pro streetcar councilmembers, I would STRONGLY request that everyone on here send a "please keep supporting the streetcar, thank you for your dedication to improving Cincinnati" email. I think it's important, certain councilmembers may be becoming weary and rarely see the support. [email protected]
