  1. 8th & state seems to forget that the Downtown to Zoo streetcar line has nearly 100,000 jobs in walking distance & 40,000 residents in walking distance. The Ludlow to McMillan line is about 35,000 jobs in walking distance & probably the same number of residents. The difference is that Corryville, Downtown & OTR are ripe for massive investment & increases in population. Clifton isn't about to grow dramatically & outside of U Square, CUF is pretty built out. And none of those are about to add jobs.
  2. 8th & state has the worst argument. Please, lay out your route. On google maps, and explain why it would have been better. Please. Let me guess, West Chester to Mason?
  3. Urban Dictionary lists IGBYS as I'm Gonna Burn Your Shit. That's not a saying I've ever heard though...
  4. If the state sets a law, the City can set a law that goes BEYOND that law. The City can set laws that go beyond the state law, thereby superseding a smaller law (City can require helmets while state law says you don't need one). BUT if the State law says something is required, the City can't say it's not. Basically, the City can increase regulation, but not lessen it.

    Just did it! Everyone should.
  6. ^a friend close to the project has told me it will likely be 1 8ish story buildin against 5th st & a 15 story apartment building over a 6 story garage at 6th street. The two buildings will come from one base so ground floor design will connect/combine them.
  7. The vine & liberty place merged with the liberty & reading place. Signs on door redirect to that other location
  8. John, the Enquirer recently reported that Obama has freed up $400 million km transit funds that had been earmarked since 2003 but never used. Has the city tried To take advantage of that at all for the streetcar? Heard anything?
  9. Also, considering the city of Long Beach, for example, has 60 miles of off road cycle infrastructure & 90 miles of bike lanes, I think Californians still like their secure bike infrastructure. I will go back to my point about downtown cycling however, that cyclists riding on the vine street sidewalk HURT the cause by telling drivers cyclists don't have to be in the road. When it comes to downtown and OTR cycling, cyclists SHOULD grow up and take the road. Any long distance routes (East End to Downtown) or high speed roads (Gilbert) should have infrastructure however.
  10. I will say what I hate most in downtown & OTR is the number of cyclists who take the sidewalk. When I'm in my lane & some other person is riding on the sidewalk near by the driver behind me thinks, "wth, why can't he ride on the sidewalk too!" and it sets a bad example.
  11. Streetcar won't be opening until late 2014/early2015. Will just miss tall stacks
  12. Ok Ok- enough hortsman bashing. Let's get back to real things about the streetcar...
  13. This also reminds us that homeless people aren't committing violent crimes. How many shootings happen at 12th &elm or 15th & elm, etc. all of these crimes are from people loitering all day but who often live in a nearby building but don't have to work to live. At least the guy asking for money or selling streetvibes is doing SOMETHING. The guys loitering at 13th & walnut and 15th & vine contribute nothing to society but take up a lot of our policing resources.
  14. I've reached out to my contact. She said there's no indication grant money was federal pass through funds and was instead city economic development funds but she will look into it to confirm.
  15. Alright. I'm over it. It's just hokey. That 10 year lease by UC really set this project in motion. Very exciting
  16. Ugh. What a bunch of crap.
  17. Mahoganys had a $10 cover this weekend. Is it a restaurant or a night club?
  18. ^actually they aren't. They're currently working on a total of 60 units because they can't get any banks to finance all of their announced projects. Banks have been EXTREMELY resistant to financing 3CDC projects as thrive been told that this urban development is a phase due to the weak economy and that after the economy returns to full swing banks will return to suburban development financing. I've also been told by a close friend the Banks didn't start on their next phase this summer because their financing gap is massive and Banks won't give them anything.
  19. The "phases" are because Duke still has utility work to do along the western part of the ride. the started the first phase now because council & cyclists said said dont wait and it also allows for people toget used to it and start commuting on Columbia instead of a more neighborhood oriented street.
  20. I'm under the impression there are no surface lots. Could that just be a delivery/trash bay?
  21. I had heard that many reds (15-20) have apartments at The Banks.
  22. This whole development is pretty exciting. I kind of forget it's going on and then every once and awhile I end up in CUF and go, oh wow! That place was a mud pit for so many years, very exciting. Any idea what the monthly rate will be for the parking garages? Also, any idea when phase 2 (Vine street) will begin? That will be a game changer as well for the feel of the neighborhood when you get up the Hill

  24. Can't believe they Quoted Josh Spring. They should have mentioned he prefers open drug use to safe children playing in a park.
