Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
http://www.mbharch.com/work/restaurants/yardhouse/index.htm The architect. Good looking interiors, most of the exteriors are a bit disappointing though. Notice, however, none seem to have decks or patios. They have said the Cincy one will have a large patio so this should (probably) help humanize the exterior.

Magic. Or science.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
A buddy of mine who I think is pretty reliable has told me that the Banks have a huge financing gap on anything moving forward. Apparently banks won't support The Banks as it's "too risky" and they prefer financing larger suburban style developments (which they can own after they go under- see Newport Pavillion). Frustrating.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
My prediction for about a year now has been testing begins very late 2014, line opens February/March 2015. I saw someone else say 2015 a while back and get laughed at. I'm betting "full on" construction starts LATE this year or early next year. The city hasn't even put out bids yet for contractors.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Washington Park
The Olympic length, 8-lane wide, 10-foot deep Lincoln pool is 0.7 miles from Washington park. The 4-foot deep Ziegler pool is 0.4 miles and the Hanna playground with a pool, slide & spray jets is 0.7 miles.

Cincinnati: Camp Washington: The Lofts at Harrison Terminal
Ya, and there's virtually no way that building could have been saved If that spot stayed industrial.

Cincinnati: Camp Washington: The Lofts at Harrison Terminal
For what it is worth, they are trying to sell the building for what it was purchased for years ago ($1.8 million). Even if it is sold for their asking price I'm sure they've lost their shirt on this purchase after all the costs associated with the building over the years is taken into account. They haven't taken care of anything. They have a million fines against them for being horrible owners, last week, after the city took them to court, they did some basic work on it. They apparently claim they won't pay their taxes because it's overvalued at $800,000, but are asking $1.8 million for it. Idiots.

Cincinnati: Camp Washington: The Lofts at Harrison Terminal
The Crosley Building is to die for. I just can't believe no one has gobbled that one up yet. There have been other nearby renovations into residential. My dream for Crosley though has been a boutique hotel with a giant party deck on the roof (see Miami Beach for inspiration). Picture that as you're driving south on I-75. The Crosley building is for sale. Horrible owners are asking $1.8 million. It looks as though they owe a couple hundred thousand in back taxes which would have to be paid at the sale. Auditor values it at $800,000. Also--- Does anyone have an update on this project? When it was completed/occupancy/etc. A guy I know just moved into it. I plan to ask him for some photos and a tour.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Ya- here's what will happen: Us: "Republicans and conservatives were against the streetcar and now look at how much of a success it is!" Them: "Democrats like John Cranley, Dusty Rhodes and Tom Luken were against the streetcar so it's not a conservative vs. liberal thing" When the streetcar is a success they will say, "you got lucky" or "it's because of other things" and they will just start attacking the next proposed major investment (FWW Caps, Light rail, etc.). And their listeners will still listen.

Ya- When I left Cincy for college the city I moved to had a municipally-owned utility company. It was super popular and cheaper than the neighboring for-profit utility.

Metro Jobs 2007-2012
Another month of good data for Ohio. Cincy & Cleveland are neck & neck! Fun to watch that "battle". Thanks for posting these.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
CincyGuy45202 replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionAny group affiliated with that protest does nothing to help anyone. It was a rag tag bunch of yuppie white people who think they need to speak for black children & the poor. In the mean time, the fountain was packed with black and white, rich and poor, children all laughing and playing together.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Washington Park
Yes he was. With his 3CDC is the enemy of the poor & Washington Park is 3CDC cash cow body sandwhich board signs. Maybe if he put that much energy and dedication into a JOB he wouldn't have to sell streetvibes.

Money is still not agreed upon. But the distance has supposedly been dropped to 3 feet.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Washington Park
Not that I don't agree that it's crazy, but what's with the Sloan v. WCG discussion in this thread? Just a little confused. Either way- park looks great, let's all be there in clear support. Please, if you go, talk to the media, say how great this is. After the event go right up to a camera person & try to get them to interview you. Letting people who support drugs in parks steal the spotlight would be depressing.

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
Both the victim and the suspect are African American men with decently sized rap sheets. Sad, but an unfortunate reality that nearly all homicides in Cincinnati come from one socioeconomic class. Until the community steps up there's little the police can do to prevent these. Things like the urban boot camp are the best tools the police have, but that's 50 kids out of an entire community that has had internally directed violence as the norm for generations.

Newport, KY: Ovation
CincyGuy45202 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionThat's still what is there though. Nothing new. My guess is ovation never happens. Something completely different will replace it

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
And with that, I think we're off topic. So, about the Banks, it looks as though they won't be starting construction this summer. Kind of disappointing.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Dear lord people- apparently everyone gets defensive when you bring up the cardinals. Since you all asked my point: Gr8Cities said its unrealistic to expect a small market team to be able to get good attendence on hot summer weekdays. My only point was, Attendence Goes waaayyyy beyond market size and hot weekdays. I'm incredibly familiar league attendence trends- and small market teams can do amazing and big market teams can be an embarrassment- there are a million reasons behind this that go Beyond just saying - oh well it's hot and we're a small market so we can't expect to sell out weekdays. Our attendence is doing great this year, compare it to 2005 and you'll see how far we've come, but we can and will get higher attendence as people get more excited about the team and our market size won't inhibit that.
-
Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
St Louis's market is not the much larger than Cincinnati's in the scheme of things. They are the 3rd highest attendence in baseball averaging +42,000 a game. And their weather is pretty similar to ours.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
CincyGuy45202 replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionOTRCH applied for their tax credits with 3CDC's help. 3CDC has helped OTRCH get tax credits on several occasions. Also I don't care if someone chose to misspell their name all the time, I'm spelling it correctly: Buddy Gray. The idea that it's a social movement to defy proper grammar is a bit silly.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
I've been told by a friend high up at 3CDC that the maximum height will be 25 stories, but because Dunnhumby will be using taller than standard floor plates for its Offices it may seem closer to what a regular, older 30 story building looks like in height.
