Cleveland: Downtown: The 9 / Rotunda / County Admin Development
I'm legitimately surprised Heinens is making the plunge without parking. This is huge for so many reasons. Should bring lots of foot traffic to the Euclid dead zone. We're going to be well on our way to continuous Euclid vibrancy from Public Square to the Inner Belt. I am too, very. Though I suspect they have a plan in the works if it becomes a problem. Which I suspect it will, in part due to the "carrying bags in uncontrolled spaces" issue. What.

There's a fitness center opening in the Flats East Bank hotel. Got a mailer for it last week.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I've noticed more transit police at stations other than Tower City. Earlier in this thread, some of us lamented the lack of transit police outside of the Tower City station and the Tower City -> E. 55th station route. In the past week, I've seen transit police at various west side stations, as well as on some east and west side routes. I even saw transit police at the E. 120th street station. Much appreciated, and I think a step in the right direction.

Seattle, WA
Cool photos. For anyone in Cleveland, United is currently offering some fall/winter flights to Seattle for about $240 roundtrip, all taxes included. That's about as good as it gets for CLE-SEA flights.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
RTA denies this, but if you track NextConnect regularly you can see that it only shows scheduled times for the Red Line. It is not based on the actual location of the next train. When a Red Line train is not on schedule, NextConnect is inaccurate.

Did you eat/drink at Tycoon's? Neat concept.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
Agree 100% on spreading the transit police. I'd love to see police at the major stops. Rightly or wrongly, RTA has a safety perception problem among many people in Northeast Ohio. Concentrating transit police in the safest station (Tower City) does nothing to address that.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
This place seems to have closed. Maybe for good, maybe for improvements. The sign is down and the parking lot across the street is blocked off. I retract the above. I went by there earlier this evening and the sign's back on. There's still a fence around the parking lot, but now the gate's open. Maybe they were doing some improvements this week.

I was in there about a month ago, but I didn't have a burger. I liked the place a lot, but it was completely empty. This was a weekday at about 4 pm.

Relocating to Cleveland -- University Circle or other areas?
You can raise chickens in Cleveland Heights with a permit: http://www.clevelandheights.com/index.aspx?page=1281 Cleveland Heights is directly east of University Circle, and north of Shaker Heights. The Red Line goes near Cleveland Heights, at the Cedar and Euclid-East 120th stops, the latter will be relocated a few blocks away to Little Italy by the time you move to Cleveland. Cleveland Heights is safe, family-oriented, walkable, and has decent public transit. Personally, I think University Circle meets all of your requirements, but I'm not familiar with the chicken laws there.

Trip to San Francisco Oct 4th-9th
My advice would be to purchase Alcatraz tickets soon. They sell out. You can start at Ferry Plaza and walk to Alcatraz from your hotel, along the Embarcadero/piers. There are occasionally sea lions near Pier 39, which is on the way. From Alcatraz you can continue walking through Fisherman's Wharf, but most of the attraction there is touristy stuff and/or stuff for kids. There is an In-N-Out there, which is worth trying if you've never had it. You can keep walking through Chrissy Field, by the Presidio. These are nice park areas with good views of the Golden Gate Bridge, and this path will take you all the way to the Bridge, which you can walk along and get great views of the city. You can also get great views from Coit Tower. Check out the usual neighborhoods, Haight, Castro, some good food in the Mission, etc. Nightlife isn't really centered as much downtown as in other neighborhoods. I like Ocean Beach, but it's a hike from downtown SF, and remember the weather isn't "beach weather." It's a great cool weather beach walk though, and the Cliff House and Sutro Baths are pretty cool.

I walk by that Cadillac Ranch around lunchtime everyday, and although I used to see people sitting outside it's been empty the past several days.

Anyone know what happened to the RTA bus shelter for the eastbound 8 and 11, directly in front of the Wolstein Center on Prospect? Looks like a vehicle hit it. Edit: http://imgur.com/wVcwf.jpg

It looks as if Zoup is fully reopened. I walked by it earlier this week. I didn't go in but the "Opening soon under new management" signs were gone and it looked open to me.

On the subject of Twitter, whoever runs the RTA account does a great job. I check the Twitter account for service updates, but more than that, @gcrta does a good job promoting RTA and reaching out to customer base through Twitter.

If you're referring to farecard purchases on shoprta.com, we did a system upgrade last month. Due to some modifications put in to increase security, you will need to remove and re-enter any stored payment method you might have had in there. Re-entry of your payment method will also require you to supply the 3-digit CVV code on the back of the card. Deletion and re-entry of the payment method has solved 90+% of the problems we've seen. If you continue to experience problems, please drop an e-mail with as much detail as possible, and your contact info, to [email protected], and we'll address it. Thanks for the response. Unfortunately, deleting my payment information does not cure the problems. I've sent an email to RTA. Thanks again.
