  1. I was offered a building for free on Linn back in 08. I was 19 and in college and the building was a total gut job if not more so I said no. Kinda wish I could take that back now.
  2. That hotel / park have been moving at a blistering pace. We should see the new headquarters just after the end of the first nuclear winter.
  3. I see that theater is still standing...
  4. Hopefully better signage codes will be in place to prevent someone slapping a huge neon SUBWAY sign on the front of a historic building like in the above Knoxville image.
  5. The Union Carbide building in NYC, also SOM is slated to be torn down and replaced. I wonder what New York preservationists have to say about that project? It's a stunning building, unlike TPH, which now unfortunately may continue to deteriorate.
  6. Since when was tear it down a suggestion anyone brought to the table? Great poll....
  7. I hope this works out. I hear the owner of the US Chili bldg. wants to sell the block to build an AutoZone. And sorry Johnny Johnson but I feel like losing the old CWC was a huge loss to the neighborhood.
  8. Yes, that density is necessary, but will never happen if NIMBYs want to keep all the buildings at 3 stories. 5 even and we will never get there.
  9. An interactive screen would be dated in no time.
  10. Thanks for the condescending suggestion, but I've done my research here. I still disagree that this is anything significant beyond some of the elements of the interior, which are gone.
  11. It seems that people are under the false pretense that if the building was designed by SOM it's immediately worthy of architectural fetishism. Do people know SOM also designed the PNC building on 5th?
  12. The irony here is so insane. Whats the point of "preserving" this building if it's going to be turned into a parking garage? I feel like the original architects would be disappointed.
  13. Is that "8 On The Square" building modern construction?
  14. That fad will hopefully die soon.
  15. Quebec City has the benefit of also being in French Canada, which gives it the European feel that attracts English Speaking tourists. It's architecture is a factor as well however. Newport benefits from having exceptional homes that are in themselves architectural and design marvels. Though we have beautiful homes and great architecture here, the grandiose nature of Newport is what makes it appealing to visitors.
  16. Yves Behar replied to taestell's post in a topic in City Life
Ces't La Vie I say. The city's gonna have some smells.
  17. I feel like closing that tunnel is a bad idea, but perhaps there is evidence otherwise.
  18. Do you have a source on this arsonist pastor? I couldn't find any information.
  19. I agree, I'm still lamenting the loss of this building. https://www.google.com/maps/@39.1242817,-84.5143341,3a,75y,330.93h,99.75t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sB4veyWQiJK7iQkchiO5ooQ!2e0!5s20110601T000000!7i13312!8i6656
  20. Looks good from 71 too. I hope that in the future Central parkway will evolve into it's own distinct district with high rise buildings. It has so much potential to be a tiny downtown of it's own.
  21. As someone who lives in Camp Washington, it's not really a good place for students. There needs to be some more development in the area first. The housing stock is almost completely made up of super low income properties. I can see some bold kids living in the Camp, but it takes a certain kind of person. There are also very little amenities in the neighborhood.
  22. Plenty of Space for a Menard's, Planet Fitness, and Pet Co. to add to the flavor of the community.
