  1. my understanding is that the bus line will be running in that section of euclid by ingenuity - and using the station. there is going to be some kind of band on the RTA platform. the roads will be closed to regular traffic, except for the buses, which should be interesting.
  2. here is a pic:
  3. i lived in a 2 bedroom / 2 bath, 1300 square foot apartment downtown and it was between $35-65 a month to keep it at 68 in the winter and 74 in the summer using electric heat pump. older windows, not a corner unit, east facing. this price didn't include hot water.
  4. the sign on their building says that they have 9 units left. i believe that these are new / never finished units. there are probably a couple of other units that are for sale on the resale market, but my understanding is that the building is mostly sold.
  5. When you went to the website, what did it say about that type of stuff? absolutely nothing, which is why i ask, MTS. What did the website say to you when you went? efficiency is mentioned only a few times as in "efficient furnace" or "efficient water heater" - but this really doens't mean anything. How effcient are these appliances? Is construction waste being recycled? Are there local sourcing options for tile, wood, cabinets, etc? Are they using low VOC paints? Are there any indoor air quality upgrades? i'm less interested in the marketing materials (which say very little about "green" features), than hearing from a future owner as they build out a unit and actually are picking out materials and products.
  6. does anyone know if any of these are including green features? permeable pavement, roof garden, high efficiency furnace, appliances, etc.? or is it just a sort of pick what you want inside, and some of those options are energy star type appliances?
  7. there are places in warehouse district that used to have the large pots with a chain or rope between them to denote an area for the patio. can't remember if any of those are up this year. but, the general trend has been to put the metal fence around (perhaps as a perceived upgrade? perhaps required by the new code?). for as artsy as some of the other elements in the e4 area try to be, i think the stock aluminum fencing doesn't really fit in that well. boneyard and bling pig both have semi-custom welded fences that are assembled each year, which at least gives a varied appearance.
  8. http://www.clevelandplays.com has a bunch of different sports focused leagues that are very social as well. different times for registrations, but you might meet a lot of different people and get some exercise as well.
  9. There is a sign in the Bridgeview building on w9 that a Phoenix Coffee shop will be opening soon (this is the former Brigade space)... i don't know if they are taking the whole space or not, but it should be a good location.
  10. try searching on: http://www.clevelandmemory.org there are quite a few pics of the warehouse district, w.3, w.9, and if you search for shoreway construction there will be some pics too.
  11. the big difference in cleveland now: the bars are smoke free. you wouldn't usually find parents exposing young children to smoke. but, children and babies at bars are very common in other states where smoking isn't permitted.
  12. I believe they are related to the Silver/Health Line. there's one focused on the road at Euclid/East 2nd (SE Corner of Public Square) you are correct, i believe the cameras on euclid that are mounted on top of the traffic poles are for traffic detection only (no video monitoring). they look a bit like this: the ones i'm curious about though are large white plastic enclosures with a tinted dome on the bottom and a very large antenna attached to it. edit: it looks a bit like these, although the antennas are different:
  13. Has anyone noticed at least 2 new wireless cameras downtown: - on a traffic light pole at the north east corner of ontario and st. clair; and - on a light pole on the southwest corner of ontario and rockwell? I'm curious if this is a pilot or part of a larger project.
  14. there was supposed to be an announcement of a seasonal restaurant at the coast guard station. a few parties have apparently gotten close to some concept that might work at that location.
  15. http://www.pluggedincleveland.com/ also has some listings by neighborhood.
  16. good luck, I am with you. I complained over a year ago. If anything it has gotten worse. Media shame may be in order. i actually think that, in general, the street light situation (pre-water main break) has improved. CPP and FirstEnergy now seem to regularly tag poles with tape when the lights are out and tag the fixture itself with tape when there is a ballast problem. I have seen the crews working downtown on the weekends replacing these fixtures. I have no doubt that people at CPP were probably doing very little maintenance on these fixtures for the past years, so they have their work cut out for them. now, the situation with the water main break is inexcusable, imo. run a few wires above ground on some new poles and get the lights on temporarily. similarly, along euclid where all of the new lights don't work yet, install some lights above ground in the near term.
  17. pretty sure that is the typical misinformation that the "breaking news" likes to speculate. there were some newer water pipes in this area, but they didn't redo all of the water pipes through the square.
  18. yep. large sink hole in the middle of superior and ontario intersection. apparently 4 different water mains run under this area.
  19. they should be traffic detector cameras (in place of the wire loops that are run in the ground at some intersections). the euclid corridor stations are supposed to get surveilance cameras, but i believe that all of the cameras you see mounted on the traffic poles are for detection of vehicles only, and not video monitoring or recording.
  20. it seems that the website has copied and pasted text directly from a four seasons restaurant, which might explain the stock photos or statements like: "Since opening its doors 2020 Martini is position to received a string of industry accolades including Best Restaurant in the Restaurant Awards, Restaurant of the Year in the Restaurateurs Awards." "It was a fabulous experience dining at Four Seasons. The eateries were really tasty. And the behaviour of the attendents was very friendly. They were quite helpful in choosing food-items according to our choice. Ralph Stanes" "Four Seasons has achieved a good name in the area for their top quality food. The Times"
  21. And those concerns are? MTS, have you been inside of any of the stonebridge units recently? if not, i'd suggest you go have a look at a few of the units for sale - even the model unit in the older stonebrige has some issues - and it is the model (check out the door to the roof and the spiral staircase and door casings). i've seen a couple of units in the older phases that aren't aging very well. and although the new building is nice, the 3 units i have been inside that building, as well as some of the common area elements don't appear built to last 50 years, for example. another example is the door hardware. it looks OK, but it is not commercial grade, which is what is commonly found in higher end condos and most apartments downtown / near downtown - multiply this small change throughout the building, and there is a significant cost savings for the developer, at some long term wear and tear cost perhaps to the condo owner. some of the concerns could just be cutting corners on finishing touches, but look closely at where the windows meet the floors, put your full weight against the balcony railings, look at weather sealing around doors that face the lake / river, etc. there are just a lot of issues, for me at least, in buildings that are only a few years old or practically brand new. some of the planning also seems strange. i'd hate to have to move any large piece of furniture into the new building with the multiple angle walls snaking back to the front doors of some units. it might look interesting, but that doesn't make it appropriate or long lasting, imo, and this is the challenge for this type of development practices at e9 and euclid, be it hotel, office, or condo. ymmv.
  22. their prices at the other location are somewhat less and offer 2 sizes - small and large. was this menu significantly different than the other location?
  23. you can get a 2 bedroom for under 1000 in warehouse district: - bridgeview, although the unit will be small and probably not have a great view, may have to get special to get under 1000/month; - crittenden court seems pretty affordable, but i was never very impressed with the interior of this building, and generally have not heard good reviews from people who have lived here; - national terminal is cheap too, and they have 2 bedrooms for under 1000 that might be quite large. but the elevators, management, tenants, etc. are not great from someone i know there. - 425 lakeside - they used to have some reasonable 2 bedroom rentals as well. in gateway / theater: - chesterfield - haven't heard much positive about this building, but it does have rooftop pool and is close to euclid corridor; - statler arms - nice building, 1000/month will be tough, but i know people who have existing leases there for around 1000/month for 2 bedroom places, they may also discount a bit with the euclid project. do you plan to park a car downtown?
  24. do the radiators not work? the electric baseboards can be a good solution where it is particularly cold or no other heat options exist. i would imagine that trying to heat the entire unit on electric baseboards could get expensive though.
  25. I've got an old (c. 1930) leather desk chair that has a split seam on the front of the seat. Has anyone used (and can recommend) a local upholsterer / sewing shop / furniture repair shop for this kind of work?
