Cincinnati: Corryville: University Village
Yeah I cannot believe anyone could go from the good plan that increases density and vibrancy and water it down to what its become. Shame on them. Makes me think of what happened with oakley station.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
yea i dont like the idea of those garages at all, especially with the bridge over the street and if you look at the amount of spaces vs what is required by code its like they want to add an extra 100 or so spaces beyond what is required. wtf? the whole point of relaxing parking requirements in the cbd and otr was to make it so they didn't have to keep building parking everywhere right?

Cincinnati: Xavier University: Development and News
Oh, I noticed the sidewalks were kind of weird, but the last time I went by they didn't have trees. That does sound weird all around, but traffic doesn't really go fast through any part of Montgomery through Norwood, so hopefully it won't be too bad.

Cincinnati: Xavier University: Development and News
Every time I drive by this on my way to Listermann, I can't help noticing how much it is changing the feel of this area. Even though again the architecture is similar to the banks, usquare etc and I know a lot of people on here hate that, it greatly improves the urban feel of this area and will be very good for density. Hoping that the development around here is further solidified with a streetcar/light rail, that would be amazing.

Cincinnati: Emery Theater Development and News
http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2014/07/29/uc-emery-theatre-building-should-remain-tax-exempt.html I can't believe that it's been almost a year now, and they are still arguing about this. They want to have their cake and eat it too. Requiem isn't allowed to renovate the theater, but they still want the tax exemption that the theater gives them. Bullcrap. Seriously, whoever is pulling the strings needs to realize that this theater is too much of a gem to be wasted in the manner they are doing. Get over yourselves.

Cincinnati: Bicycling Developments and News
some more bicycling news. http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2014/07/22/central-parkway-bikeway-speeds-toward-completion.html Glad it's making quick progress so far. Also, has anyone noticed the bike lanes on Este over by Carthage? They recently repaved the road and restriped the bike lanes to look kinda like this with a buffer. I think I have only seen 1 or 2 people using these in the last 3 yrs I have been driving this way to work, but still it's nice. It has been driving me crazy because people keep using it as a turn lane onto Center Hill, even though the restriping took away that turn lane. I think people are finally starting to get it after a few weeks though.

Cincinnati: General Transit Thread
I remember people were talking on here about this a month or two ago. Who knows how far off it could be, but good to know someone is working on the pre-planning stages. http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/morning_call/2014/07/how-cvg-downtown-train-could-become-a-reality.html

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
climberguy714 replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentThis one looks good though I haven't been there in Columbus. Perfect plan to try to open for Oktoberfest. Looking forward to it and hoping some more of the Columbus restaurants come down here, particularly I would love if we had a Dirty Frank's too! http://www.columbusunderground.com/brezel-expanding-to-otr-cincinnati

Cincinnati: Eastern Corridor
I grew up in Clermont County as well and I see your point. Looking back at our region's history, there are a lot of things we should have done differently with our infrastructure. We should have completed the subway. We should have made sure that Cincinnati's major airport was built somewhere in Ohio. And yes, we should have build the eastern segment of the Ronald Reagan Highway, providing a more direct route from Clermont County into Cincinnati. (Actually, we should have just built a much smaller I-275 loop, with the northern portion being where the Ronald Reagan Highway is now.) But just because we have had an insane amount of sprawl to the north does not mean that we should use that as an excuse to justify a new highway to the east. Clermont County does not inherently "deserve" a speedy interstate-class highway connection to Cincinnati. Notice that Clermont County supports the Eastern Corridor while Hamilton County neighborhoods oppose it. That's because Clermont County get the benefits (low-value land potentially turned into new subdivisions and strip malls) while Hamilton County gets sliced up with yet another highway. As some point we need to face the reality of future growth trends. People are driving less. More people want to be closer to the urban core. Fewer people want auto-dependent lifestyles. Let's use our limited transportation dollars to fix our existing highways and bridges, and then built the type of infrastructure that is being demanded by the next generation, rather than building new highways and inducing more sprawl. I totally agree. Sprawl does not justify more sprawl. If the project were only a transit portion and increased pedestrian and bike access sure, but its mostly about building a highway.

Plus tens of millions is just a drop in the bucket compared to hundreds of millions that these renovations will cost.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
climberguy714 replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionWow you're right the place on Jackson looks really neat especially with the way they did that balcony and the reclaimed wood shelves. Also the Tea Company places are looking really nice as well at least from the pics. I really like the design of the geometric shelving.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Smale Riverfront Park
This section of construction looks to be moving along pretty fast, can't wait to start seeing the carousel building and carousel go up. Also definitely like the design of continuing the cascades as you go under to the other side. It totally will be a big draw for people on lunch from the offices at the Banks.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Fort Washington Way Cap
any clue what happened to the design contest pertaining to these from last year?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Good news! Will definitely be good for attracting further Banks/Downtown development. Also agree that it helps with the draw for more transportation options using the RTC.

Good to know this is not just planned as student housing as well, which will increase the likelihood of sustainability considering rising cost of school.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
http://www.bizjournals.com/cincinnati/news/2014/05/28/residents-want-transit-on-new-western-hills.html Saw this just a bit ago. I'm curious, I know people hate the idea of tolls, but considering the amount of people that go across it each day, what if they could toll the bridge in order to pay for it like what they are trying to do with Brent Spence? Then that could also be used to pay for the extra expense of building in space for streetcars/light rail. I'm guessing, at a buck per person per day, that would be paid for pretty fast if its possible.

Cincinnati: Madisonville: Development and News
Thanks for listing these updates on where they are in terms of planning and development with what is coming up. I have read about the plans, but wasn't sure where they are. My wife is from Madisonville, and we live in Kennedy Heights now and drive through all the time. When looking at houses, we walked through one that was redeveloped and owned by the redevelopment corp and it pained me so much to walk through it. It was beautiful, but my girl and her parents already had their minds made up, because it was on what they called, the "bad side" of Madisonville, so these preconceived notions exist even in the very neighborhoods that are being redeveloped. Excited to see what happens and have some more places to go to nearby. Also need to get to Mazunte sometime, have heard it is good from others as well.
