FC Cincinnati Discussion
This is where the Cincinnati Saints played 2 years ago. The view of downtown from there is great and you can regularly smell the brewing at Sam Adams.

Actually the traffic situation is very good. Went to mapfre for the USA Mexico game last month and there it is horrible. My friend said it's usually bad there but this was extra bad, took 1hr 15min just to get out of the parking lot. I can usually get out of an FCC game and home in 30-40 min tops.

Cincinnati: Madisonville: Development and News
Agreed. It would be one thing if it created a block shape that would eventually be developable between the lights, but will be a very oddly shaped piece of land that if I remember right is woods and part of duck Creek? Or is it a drainage ditch I can't remember...

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Took some friends who hadn't ridden yet and some friends from Chicago yesterday. My friends from here were impressed with the changes downtown, said haven't been down there in like 10 yrs. Chicago friends said our streetcar is way nicer than the trains up there which they said they won't even ride anymore.

I may be wrong but the electric for the city is still being bought from first energy right? I remember the city making this decision because it was "green" because it's backed by green energy credits. So if true, would this be the first transit in the country powered by "green" energy other than biodiesel buses? I have no idea so that's why I'm asking.

Wonder if the trend will continue with way higher weekend ridership or if it's just cuz of events.

Cincinnati: Festivals, Music Concerts, & Events
climberguy714 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentI'd like to know why the lineup is disappointing. I've discovered a lot of great music this weekend - both local and national - thanks to MidPoint. I've always been more into the electronic or more experimental bands that I've seen a lot of there in the last few years. Was really interested in the afro beat and jazz stuff that was going to be there this year but didn't feel was worth 50 bucks a day for that and local bands that I like and can see anytime of the year. Last year there were literally 10 bands I wanted to see each of the 3 days, this year there were 3-4 on Fri and 2 Sat. I forgot I was pissed to see they didn't have any passes/tickets for single venues they have in the past because I would have done that on Sat if it had been available.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Rode tonight to go to Quan hapa. A lot of clueless people were on it. My favorites were a guy who said matter of fact to his daughter who was maybe 10 or 12 "now the streetcar is here, all these buildings down here are worth something" and a lady who kept saying "we should get off at over the Rhine" not realizing most of where we traveled through was otr.

Cincinnati: General Transit Thread
^ Just FYI, some of the loudest opposition to MetroMoves came from Pleasant Ridge. For no good reason. Oh wow that sucks. That was something in the back of my mind i hoped would happen eventually when I bought my house in Kennedy heights 5 yrs ago. I'm literally 3 blocks from where that Silverton station was planned.

Cincinnati: General Transit Thread
I'm curious, I thought I remembered hearing that the railroad track going through pleasant ridge and Kennedy heights or least part of it was bought by metro in preparation for metro moves. Is that true? If so I think somehow bringing rail up to connect to that row would beneficial. A lot of the residents here in Kennedy heights walk, ride the bus or ride bikes and I could see them and people in pleasant ridge being supportive of an additional mode of transportation.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Rode it today with my wife. Really enjoyed the ride from 6th and main up to Findlay market. Decal ads don't look as terrible as I expected, it was easy to get on and off and figure out which stop you wanted to get off at. Thought it was a good call by metro having employees at stops to answer questions and loved the brochure they gave out that explained destinations at each stop. I'm definitely happy it's finally here, and can't wait till we have light rail going out to suburbs.

Cincinnati: Random Development and News
climberguy714 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI'd like to point out that basically everyone is confirming that architecture now mostly just sucks except higher dollar higher profile projects. Hopefully if we're lucky it's a trend that may wane as we come towards the close the decade? No idea if architecture is like music or fashion that tends to roll in decades...

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Again, it sets a horrible precedent. Will a citywide system now be branded? Would 3C's rail be branded? Why not sell naming rights for the interstates? They don't sell the rights to those but do it already for state troopers etc...such and such memorial highway...
