Cincinnati: Downtown: City Club Apartments / 309 Vine Redevelopment
Micro-apartments official now. It'll be interesting to see how those are recieved. I hope well as it will provide a way to increase density further in cbd. Still curious to see if after the building fills up they decide to add more floors since it's built to support more.

I realized it really isnt that far though, walked like 11 blocks to get there in 10-15 min.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
climberguy714 replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI'm not sure what their criteria is for "workforce" housing but that brings up a critical issue that is rarely discussed in these types of debates. There are plenty of expensive townhomes and condos, as well as existing subsidized housing and more added with nearly every 3CDC development. However what is often forgotten is the middle class -- people that make too much money to quality for subsidized housing, but also can't afford a $250,000 condo or $600,000 townhome. Having a strong middle class in OTR will be critical if we want the neighborhood to develop as a truly livable place with all the amenities that people need and want nearby. Totally agree. Me and my wife would love to live there but def can't afford an expensive condo, huge house or a rehab. Would love if newer construction rowhouses about 1000-1500 sq ft could be built w some old charm at about 100-150k. Don't know if thats realistic, but it does seem a lot of these newer houses there are freaking huge on purpose to be luxury and get high prices. Note: our house is a 75k 1400 sq ft over a hundred yrs old in kennedy heights, great house, but its def not otr.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
climberguy714 replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentThere was a House of Pies in my old neighborhood in LA. It was basically a dirtier Frisch's without the bomb ranch dressing/salad bar. I went a few times, but I saw a mouse run across the floor on one visit and obviously never returned. LA still has a few of the Bob's Big Boys around, and the one in Burbank has become known as a place where old guys go to show off their fancy old cars. I love a good diner, and Frisch's is (sadly) about the best we've got around here. There's plenty of diners around, just not chain diners like that. Joes diner on sycamore, demetrios which used to be in mariemont but moved to golf manor a few years back, sugar and spice in avondale though thats only breakfast. I consider all 3 of those better quality than frischs btw.

FC Cincinnati Discussion
Interesting point from news courier article today. It implied that the dayton dutch lions which used to be in the usl and dropped out got bought by lindner, bringing us this new team. The saints had a preseason game against the dayton dutch team this year and crushed them if i remember right. I wonder if this could lead to a great rivalry between both teams if they ever are in the same league like the rivalry with manchester united and manchester city, or real madrid and madrid atletico.

FC Cincinnati Discussion
I don't know the numbers, but it seemed less people came to withrow this yr vs stargel last yr, even though they did better this yr. I have always been a huge fan of soccer, very exciting that within a couple of yrs of each other we might have 2 pro soccer teams.

I know it's off topic, but for those of you who like soccer, we have a minor league team the Cincinnati Saints. They just finished up their 2nd season, and their goal is to move up to MLS or bring a team here.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Yea this is political grandstanding bullshit at its finest. Why can't elected officials look at a number and pick the smaller one considering the outcome is similar instead of wasting time? Who cares what ATU thinks is it really that big of a deal?

I hope the democrats on council choose the cheaper option. This would still satisfy atu because the non-sorta workers will still become part of the union right? This would also show them as willing to compromise to save the city money, while cranley will look like an idiot touting the most expensive option.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I forgot to post about that. Went to taste for first time this year and it was so packed and crowded. I really do feel the wide streets at the banks, and the performance spaces and lawns of smale would be way better.

Newport, KY: Newport on the Levee: Development and News
climberguy714 replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionIve ridden the skywheel in myrtle beach a couple times and really like it. This will give great views of the skyline. Something that would be cool is in myrtle beach theirs is by the boardwalk area, which the outside of notl by the aquarium feels that way a bit, it would be cool if they continued to expand on that to attract more tourists and connect to the river more. I agree even if its perceived as competition, this and the banks and riverfront parks will help concentrate the whole river area as one tourist destination with many facets/attractions.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Witnessed someone spill on race by findlay market. She was on a mountain bike with fat tires and hit the groove next to the track just right. Was glad she wasn't hurt.
