Cincinnati: Uptown: Stratford Heights
As a member of UC's Greek community, I would never even think of moving into Stratford Heights. Too expensive, too restrictive and many Fraternities are upgrading/rebuilding their houses. These Stratford Heights buildings are way to small for the big fraternities that are close to 100 members. Plus whenever I walk through Stratford, it smells like sewage.

Northern Kentucky: Random Development and News
cincybearcat replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionAs much as your comments are true, it was totally ridiculous for the county to move ahead on purchasing the land and picking this spot. I have no problem with them building a jail outside of Covington, but it was STUPID to consider a site so near brand new schools. There is plenty of suburban (cheap) land available in Kenton county and it wouldn't have to be near two brand new schools. The county is totally stupid and I cannot blame people for being upset. Stop making things out to what they are not, such as a suburb vs. urban issue. Plus it's KENTUCKY!!

Cars & Vehicles Discussion (History, etc)
Again, this is only stating that FOUR TRATORS, not four trailers will be connected. This is not a land-train, which is usually 4 or more trailers. A standard trailer is 53' and a tractor can vary in size. So a little bit longer, but the fishtailing will be an issue unless the last to trucks use some pretty hefty anti-sway bars.

Greater Cincinnati Metro (SORTA) and TANK News & Discussion
I would like to see further expansion of the bus system into the northern suburbs. Butler and Warren counties should start paying Metro for more express and crosstown routes. I could see better a crosstown local and express system handling a lot of people from Fairfield over to Mason/Blue Ash area. Along with better downtown express service, ridership would certainly rise. Light rail would be nice too!

Cincinnati: CUF: Clifton Heights & Posed UC Ballplayers Cameo
I took the family and some relatives down to Red Pepper on Wednesday night last week. Excellent meal, only problem was as soon as we left the restaurant, we had someone asking us for money. I am fucking sick of that shit. I am a student and people are on campus asking for money, if I had so much extra money sitting around, I would donate it. I'm a student = poor!

Butler County Growth
I would say this problem falls more on Hamilton county than Butler county. Hamilton county needs jail space and I doubt a solution will be found before this budget is set. Butler county will end up getting money from Hamilton county until a new jail is built.

Cincinnati: West Chester - Ikea Coming to Union Centre
Those pictures are from the photo op that IKEA had with all the West Chester officials. If the store is officially known as the West Chester IKEA, I highly doubt there will be a sign with West Chester on it, just IKEA.

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
UncleRando nailed this one! I wasn't living in Cincinnati before all the buildings where taken down, but from what's standing there now, this block was blighted and deteriorating. This will only delay the project longer. I don't understand why things take so long to get done in the city, but in the suburbs, buildings can be completed in a matter of months. And for those saying that this will be of higher quality than suburban building projects, I don't think quality of building has anything to do with it, case in point is Stratford Heights, piece of shit that took 2 years to build.

^ I really like the look of that bridge! If a cable-stay is even considered, I will be pissed.

University of Cincinnati Bearcats Football Discussion
I heard the news conference this afternoon on my way home from an exam. I am truly excited about our new coach. He wants to win and I think the best idea he has is going after OSU as far as recruiting. If you think about it, Ohio needs a strong #2 team, Michigan, Florida, California all have this. Hopefully by the time I graduate (2010), we will have a championship football and basketball team.

Columbus: Polaris Developments and News
cincybearcat replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Central & Southeast Ohio Projects & Construction"The Polaris store is the third Costco in Ohio after Cleveland and Cincinnati." Um, good research! Cincinnati and Cleveland each have two stores. I can't believe Columbus is just getting a Costco, best store anywhere. High quality at a good price.

Metro Cincinnati: Road & Highway News
We finally have some final information on the project. EXPRESS LANES DURING CONSTRUCTION! The inside lane just paved recently is the express lane. Construction On The Top Side Of I-275 To Begin In The Spring eported by: Deb Haas Web produced by: Candice Terrell Photographed by: 9News First posted: 11/28/2006 4:01:13 PM A huge road project is set to begin on Interstate-275 in the spring. The project covers seven miles, at a cost of $140 million. The Ohio Department of Transportation said that's the biggest contract ever in this region. One section carries as many as 145,000 cars a day. That's 53 million a year on the stretch of I-275. The Project Will Affect Commuters In Ohio. The project will cover seven miles from the Winton Road exit to US 42. Joseph Bassil with the Ohio Department of Transportation said, "Its going to slow down, there are gonna be some backups, but like any construction project, there are gonna be some growing pains in order to improve the facility, you have to suffer for a little while." During the four years of suffering, work crews will rebuild pavement, add an additional lane in each direction, and widen bridges. They will reconstruct other bridges, upgrade lighting and drainage and add noisewalls. Cliff Whigham of Kennedy Heights said, "I think that may cause a lot of problems as far as congested traffic. Thats a long time, four years." There Are Alternates To The Anticipated Congestion. Drivers can avoid some of the congestion by taking an express lane that will run the length of the project. Once you enter that lane, you won't be able to exit until the end. It has no exit points midway. Good news though, there will be no ramp closures, no detours. But some bridges, like the one on Chesterdale, will close to pedestrians and become one lane during the work. At Mel's Auto Glass on Reading Road, owners wish the construction would bring even more change. Lisa Wolf owns Mel's Auto Glass, "As far as adding a lane, at the beginning and end of the day, it'll certainly help to get people to where they want to do. I would prefer to see if they're gonna do it to add another lane while it's torn up." Project engineers said they agree 100 percent, but simply couldn't get the funding to make that happen. Again, the project should begin in the spring and wind up in the summer or fall of 2010.

University of Cincinnati Bearcats Football Discussion
I, along with everyone else, thought that Dantonio would be respectful when/if he left UC. He always said that he was here to build a program, 3 years isn't long enough bud. Who we thought was an honest guy was actually flying to Lansing, MI after UC victory at UConn. Come 7 a.m. this morning at the meeting with the players, Dantonio gave his speech and the team captains pretty much refocused the team on the bowl game and told Dantonio to "Get the Fuck Out". Leaving on good terms with the players that he cared for, ya right. Have fun coaching at MSU for 3-4 just to get booted because you'll fail there too. (Source is several friends on UC football team).

Cincinnati/NKY International Airport
At first, I thought the scale was way off with your maps, but taking a second look, I commend you on the time you spent. The Blue Ash Airport would be land locked and an airport further north would've been built or being built right now. Its hard to imagine how long runways actually are.

Sycamore Township: Kenwood Towne Centre
cincybearcat replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionSounds like it will be a brand new store. Interstate 75: Liberty Interchange in Butler County
This project is way too expensive. The exit is not needed at Hamilton-Mason, Tylersville is just south and Cin-Day exit from 129 is also just west. Hamilton-Mason is the dividing line between West Chester and Liberty, so why put an expensive exit on your southern boarder? I believe Princeton, Milikin, Kyle's Station would be cheaper and better exits in the in the long run. (Checking a map, Milikin Rd. would be best as it has alot of land and they wouldn't have to build such a complicated exit.) These would be further north and could open up the same potential. The real key is to expand Cox Rd. because businesses can build along a road, not the freeway.

CVG: Delta and Comair news
If (Big If) this merger went through I would guess the following would happen: Charlotte: Huge reduction in flights, no longer hub. Atlanta: Super Hub, addition of Charlotte flights. Salt Lake City: Huge reduction in flights, no longer hub. Phoenix: Hub of West Coast, addition of SLC flights. Cincinnati: (1) Reduction of flights, shifted to Pittsburgh/Atlanta or (2) Slight Expansion with additional Pittsburgh flights. Pittsburgh: (1) Reduction of flights, shifted to Cincinnati or (2) Slight Expansion with additional Cincinnati flights. New York (JFK): Additional International flights. Philadelphia: Reduction in number of flights.

Metro Cincinnati: Road & Highway News
Looks like construction has started. Going west there is new pavement on the shoulder and two outside lanes, inside lane is coned off. I would guess the median would be taken out to form a single barrier and bridge replacement. I wish they would fix the 75/275 interchange, it needs work.

Cincinnati: Downtown: National Underground Railroad Freedom Center
I give it two more years before this museum is moved down south(Atlanta). Better care should've been taken in evaluating if Cincinnati was even the right location. As far as the building, who knows, maybe it could be used as a school.

Cincinnati: General Transit Thread
Being a resident for only 3 years, I agree with unusualfire that traffic is getting worse. We need safety improvements on I-75 and light rail lines/commuter trains in Cincinnati and in the Cincinnati/Dayton corridor.
