  1. I noticed that with the Montgomery Rd. construction, the third lane over I-275 at I-71 has been paved and opened. I assume the ramp coming from I-71 north to I-275 east will be a exit only lane to Montgomery Rd. after construction is over.
  2. WOW!! This will be great! Some good football, esp. for Cincinnati.
  3. Here is a link to the design drawing: http://www.bctid.org/projects/interchange_layout.pdf
  4. And the point after is good! These look great, I think I will get one.
  5. Is it possible for Cedar Fair to sue CBS/Paramount for not maintaining this ride before they purchased the park?
  6. Its just a study and it does seem like a good idea. A private company would run the buses and likely pressure CVG to get Southwest or similar airline. Dayton International Airport has increased its advertising in Cincinnati the last couple of months and always beats Cincinnati as far as prices go. I am flying out of Dayton at the end of the month and it is a great airport.
  7. VOA has two parks, the MetroParks and then the baseball/soccer fields. The MetroParks is very nice and the new boathouse is very nice. I was there yesterday afternoon and it was quite busy. Nice trails around the pond, people in paddleboats, and even some remote controlled sailboats were out. There was even a water fountain that had human and dog fountains. Now, the portion owned by West Chester Twp. is crude. This portion of the park shouldn't be considered as a park, but more as a ballpark and open fields. It is nice to not have a lot of trees, so kites and rockets can be flown without getting caught in them. Both Cincinnati and Dayton have great parks and VOA has its niche and is quite enjoyable.
  8. Any news on this? A month from the article would've been April, yet its August and it seems things are the same.

Well I was at Jake Sweeney Chevy last night and I ordered in a 2007 Chevy Tahoe. I can't wait! I will be commuting to UC this year and I needed a newer vehicle and this one is perfect.
  10. Well, depending on the time of day that the sat flew over the city would determine the shadow length. I would bet that Cincy was taken around Noon, while Cleveland was early morning and Columbus, well I could careless.
  11. Better to have backup on side streets than major expressways. Why doesn't anyone understand this?
  12. The system installed at Denver was before its time and came in way over budget. I agree that Delta has something to do with this. However, technology has changed in the last 15 years. Instead of a pneumatic system, electronic actuators will be used and are much less likely to break. How do you think DHL, UPS and FedEx handles packages at their air hubs? UPS may have one of the most extensive systems in the world.
  13. Dabney sucks! I moved out of Daniels in June. It was fun and it is better than the new dorms because people always have their doors open and its easier to meet people. Now, Daniels needs some help, but I don't think it needs to be torn down right away. I like the Alumni site for future housing, maybe similar to Turner? As far as the remaining two ugly sisters, more dorms would be great there too. UC charges a ton to live on campus, but they sell out each school year, so its stupid that they don't continue building them.
  14. Its great that this case was won, however, it will set a standard more so for future projects than this one. Its stupid for those owners to stay, their neighborhood is gone. Just give the 3 owners left a good amount of money and then build the project.
  15. "Also slated for November is construction on a widening project on I-275 between state Route 4 and state Route 126. The project will widen that stretch of I-275 by one lane on both sides." I believe the actual construction limits are Winton Rd and Route 42. I don't know where they got this information, unless the widening is going that far west.

^ Usually it is bad, however, in this situation, Lebanon will always have people visiting its downtown and it will be better to get traffic out on a bypass.

Atlanta is OK, but does every company have to have a headquarters there?
  18. ^ We may have similar sources! With Sander Hall (mainly closed) containing some DAAP classes and the African American Studies, both easily relocated to other buildings, this site would be perfect because it is close enough to the old arena and the area where 5/3 sits could be redeveloped as part of the new arena.
  19. I heard that the Seattle SuperSonics was bought by some Oklahoma City business men and are moving the team down there? Is this correct and if so, when? U.S. Bank Arena wouldn't work well for an NBA team. No boxes and the ones they do have are too high up. Any hopes for a new arena would be in Butler, Warren, maybe Montgomery Counties. With 5/3 Arena being redone/torn down in the next 5-10 years, that could also be a possibility.
  20. ^ I was agreeing with you that ethanol doesn't have the same amount of energy as gasoline produced from oil. However, by converting more to ethanol, farm vehicles will use it and biodiesel. Electricity can be produced from coal, because the good ole USA has plenty of it. I understand your feelings about subsidies for ethanol. They exist at state and federal levels. Since it is used as a replacement for MTBE and also used in E-85, fuel companies buy the subsidized ethanol to mix in both blends. Now, its not considered a subsidy, but the Energy Plan passed last year gave oil companies HUGE tax benefits and cuts. Now, which is worse, I guess the argument can go either way. I would rather have ethanol subsidies than giving oil companies tax breaks in order to spur increased supply in oil and refinery capacity. Has anyone heard of a new refinery being built anywhere? How long have oil companies said that if they could get some tax cuts, we would have enough refinery capacity?
  21. It is true that per volume, ethanol has less BTU than gasoline. However, the argument should not be how much energy is used to produce ethanol, but where the fuel is coming from. One, ethanol will come from AMERICAN farmers and potentially imports from Brazil. The other, Oil comes from Middle East, I don't need to explain why this is bad! Even looking at hydrogen as a fuel, it will take much more energy to split water and/or methane in order to get the hydrogen. Now this could be done on a larger scale or small scale. Larger scale is more efficient, but how do you store hydrogen in your car efficiently? Scale is less efficient, but storage is easy because you would just fill your car with water and let the car split the molecule. The demand of ethanol has gone up so much this year, that ethanol prices have gone up, however, more ethanol plants are being built all over the midwest, which will reduce the price and more government subsidies will be used to promote more use of ethanol.
  22. E-85 will eat through the rubber fuel lines of regular cars. Flexfuel cars have steel lines and the additional sensor. Thats it! Thats why it is so sad that automobile makers are so slow to produce these vehicles until now.
  23. This will put more people on Galbraith Rd. and businesses there will do better because more people will drive by.
  24. One reason for getting better gas mileage using a E10/E15 blend is because it will "clean" your engine, unlike MTBE. While I lived in Iowa, it was very common to see 89 (10% ethanol) octane cheaper than 87 octane. This is because of a government subsidy for ethanol. I will tell you, the only difference between a regular car and a flexfuel one is the fuel system. I do not recommend running E-85 all the time in a regular car, however, once in a while will not hurt it.
  25. I can only stand having biased refs at Crosstown once a year, any more than that and basketball would just suck.
