Statement Skyscrapers
The towers at the I-75/285 interchange belong in either Midtown or Downtown Atlanta. The reason why sprawl is so bad there is because of these large office towers/parks. People can move even further out because they are not traveling downtown.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Convention Center / Hotel
Sorry to bust your bubble, but your statement is entirely false. Plasma screens do not burn-in because they get too hot! I am not even sure where you could get that idea. The reason why CRT displays and older plasmas is because they use phosphor. When an image is shown too long, at very high contrast, the phosphor has a memory of that image. Sony isn't making plasma anymore because LCD flat panels are getting larger, and Sony is now pushing LCoS in their SXRD projection sets. Just because Sony isn't making them, doesn't mean plasmas are out. Also, Sony isn't the best electronics brand, however they are the most expensive and not worth it most of the time. As long as the plasmas are adjusted correctly and change the image every couple of minutes, the screens will be fine.

Cincinnati: Brent Spence Bridge
Their website needs a little work, at high res its hard to read some of the tables. It will be interesting to see what option is built. Since the Brent Spence is in good condition, I would guess they keep it. It depends on how expensive the land in Queensgate vs. cost of a 7 lane bridge.

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
This is a beautiful building and must be saved. I mean a Walgreens? Why? This building needs some help, but certainly should stay standing.

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
With Montgomery Inn looking for a new riverfront location for the banquet center, The Banks would be perfect.

Cincinnati: Uptown: Stratford Heights
Grasscat: As a member of the greek community at UC, I can tell you that those 3 homes will be torn down and replaced by PIKE's new house. I believe they are spending around $2.5-3 million on the house. I heard from some of their brothers it should be open for next fall.

Butler County Growth
Well development will continue, but Liberty surpassing West Chester, I hope not. Liberty is nice, but I don't think the area can handle growth like that, the transportation is very poor and all roads are built to rural standards. But until Cincinnati starts attracting people again, these outer burbs will continue to grow because large homes can be purchased for less than in the city and because Lakota is an excellent school district, levy or not.(As a 2005 grad of East, I can you the district is doing fine with the money it has)

CVG: Delta and Comair news
Heaven forebid this would allow another, low cost airline to enter the Cincinnati market. I could care less about Delta, I feel bad for those losing jobs, but Cincinnati would do just fine with another airline coming in, such as Southwest, JetBlue, and now that Frontier has entered the Dayton market, I think that is another option. CVG will do fine, I doubt losing the hub status, just a reduction in flights. I hope this makes the airport consider bringing a new airline.

Ohio ethanol production
KJP, most refining processes lose energy in any industry, but I know that ethanol is a positive thing for Ohio. Before moving to Ohio in 2003, I lived in Dubuque, Iowa, where ethanol was in the mid-grade and premium fuels. Since I moved, it is now in all grades. But when I lived there, mid-grade was actually cheaper than regular because ethanol was cheaper and had the benefit of higher octane. One draw back of ethanol is lower gas milage. In the 10-15% ethanol per gallon, a mile or two is lost, however in the E-85(85%) grade, much lower milage can be expected. While this is a negative, at least money is going to American farmers and business, and not some Saudi Prince and their cars made of platinum. Oh, I want to add one thing, E-85 can run in any vehicle just as long as the fuel lines are replaced with metal ones and some engine timing is changed, which can really be effective in lowering pollution, and lowering the cost of fuel.

Cincinnati: Interstate 75
New Updates on the Thruthevalley website, showing what is going to built and what optional things could also happen. Looks like 8-12 lanes in most of the project.

Newport, KY: SouthShore Condominiums
I love all the development along the river, its about time. I think the idea of downtown and the riverfront as being dirty and dangerous are slowing fading away. From the article today, $1 Billion in development is a lot of money, and most of it is private investment. I hope Newport works on the ramp off of I-471, I know I wouldn't want to live on that street, but those houses are pretty cool too. But I wanna know where all the millionaires are coming from? Seems like all the development involves condos and apartments that are in the luxury, high-expense category.

Cincinnati: Interstate 75
Well I knew it was between express lanes and the 4-lane cont. thing. Well I guess we wait and see what the final plans include. I would hope this means the feeder roads along GE will be taken out and replaced with the local roads. Interesting that RR interchange isn't included right away, but I would guess it will be added as more jobs shift northward. Hopefully there are numerous aux. lanes between interchanges, otherwise gridlock might be a possibility before 2030. But other cities have gone back and added capacity, mainly Atlanta, but I guess it should wait until this actually gets done. Too bad it doesn't start for another 4 1/2 years. I wish HOV was considered, because I would guess as gas prices go up, more people would be interested in car pooling. Hopefully high gas prices push for a light rail lines to the north and to the east side of Cincinnati. Maybe thats why freeway expansion has been so lack luster, or because our politicians in Columbus and Washington suck and don't bring any "Pork" back to our area.

Peak Oil
I am saying that we put a tax on the extra profit the oil companies are receiving, this was done by in the 1970s, with a republican president, and this ensures that big oil can't take excess profits. I know we need new sources of energy, I can name one that would be very helpful to farmers, which is ethanol and biodiesel. It could help our farmers, burns cleaner, helps engine life and doesn't line the pockets of the Saudi royal family. I know E-85(85% ethanol, 15% gasoline) is very popular in the Twin Cities and the upper midwest in general. Too bad Ohio is stupid and doesn't want to act on anything except gay marriage bans and other actions that no one really cares about.

CVG: Delta and Comair news
I bet Salt Lake City can kiss the hub good-bye. Oh well, better for Cincinnati and Atlanta.

Peak Oil
Well, if our government actually cared about us, they would put a tax on the extra revenue that the oil companies are receiving because of this. Then put this money into lowering prices. Man, I wish my Daddy moved me to Texas, then try to run a oil company, and then try to run a country. Oh, I will be making a ton of under the counter cash to at the same time while I rip off Americans. I wonder who that could be?

Metro Cincinnati: Road & Highway News
Reading some stuff on the Thru the Valley website, I guess the I-75/275 interchange will be designed during the 275 widening project, but funding has not been set yet, so when the money does come around, they can start with construction.

Cincinnati: Eastern Corridor
Seems to me that too many agencies are tied to either the parking garages, The Banks, or a light rail line. Can someone explain to me why the garages aren't built yet? Who is in charge of putting those in?

Cincinnati: Crime & Safety Discussion
Does it ever seem that people in Cincinnati kinda brag about our crime? Because I have heard people say that Cincinnati is hardcore because of our crime. Seems kinda sad.

Cincinnati Skywalks
I like the idea of Skyways during winter and bad weather, but Cincinnati has allowed the Skywalk system fall apart. I would say take it down, and somehow then reconnect the Mall and offices downtown with street level transportation. I would like to see trollies used in downtown, not the stupid gas powered ones, but electric, rail trollies.

Cincinnati: Interstate 75
Plus the Thru the Valley Project will change the interchange with either express lanes and/or additional lanes. I am not sure about funding on putting in non-looped ramps. I would guess that the plan for the I-70/75 interchange would be used, as I have seen it in several interchange upgrades around Columbus. I don't understand why Ohio lacks the major road improvements the rest of the country is having. Would add some good jobs for a while.

Cincinnati: Interstate 75
I guess we find out in a month what the two final options will be. If I were a betting man, I would guess 4 cont. lanes and at-grade express lanes. These options are closest to the budget, with 4 cont. lanes under the $159 million budget, express lanes a little over $200 million. I hope maybe some money could be saved and put toward a new 275 interchange. And a "No Build" is not an option. Freeways are here and will be for a very long time. You can be anti-freeway, but roads will continue to get bigger.

Cincinnati: Sparta - Kentucky Speedway
There is doubt in my mind that Kentucky could handle a Nextel race. I know I would go! NASCAR better not win this thing, otherwise I will end up driving to Indy a lot.

Cincinnati: Interstate 75
Well I don't think the project is going to get the $600 million needed to build the elevated express lanes, so I don't think we have to worry. I believe the Western Hills Viaduct is going to be covered by the Brent Spence Bridge Project. It is important to end a project at an interchange, that way the lanes can match-up better when one project ends and other begins. By the end of the Ohio 75 projects, the Brent Spence will hopefully be started or about to begin. I read the date of 2015, I don't know if that is a starting date or completion date.

Cincinnati: Interstate 75
My bet is on 4-cont. lanes, but with aux lanes along much of the stretch. This gives 2-4 more lanes. I think this should be enough. The project already has enough money to cover this construction. If more money comes in, put it toward a 75 light rail line.
