Lakewood: Development and News
The Roundstone Insurance space at 15422 Detroit is going back to a church! Kings Church announced on their Instagram this week they’ve purchased the building. King's started in Lakewood at the Masonic Temple and for the past few years has been doing services at the Civic Auditorium, but looks like this’ll be their new permanent home.

At least these feel like wins: Fresh resurfacing of the sidewalk/path 5 feet of additional width The City taking responsibility for maintaining the path (instead of individual homeowners paying for patchwork maintenance on their sidewalks) Will be nice to see forestry dept. bring in appropriate replacements as you mention...

Noticed some zoning changes with Council today, looks like we will be squeezing 11 units against the Norfolk Southern tracks between Thoreau and Donald.

Pedestrian hybrid beacons like the HAWK are really for mid-block usage; the MUTCD even recommends they are at least 100 feet away from an intersection. Using non-standard signals and phases inside an intersection are likely to throw drivers off even more...

Bummed to hear Meijer pulled out for their plans to have something like a Fairfax Market in Lakewood

Liberty's original plan was these 16 townhomes - if the plan doesn't make sense anymore with 2023 economics, we may be watching the grass grow here for a while.

Largely depends who's the "We" we're talking about... For Chase I'm sure they didn't want the risks/hassle... Sticking to single-use likely saved years of negotiation, working around zoning regulations, solving for required parking minimums, more complicated financing, etc.

Cleveland: Flats Developments (Non-Stonebridge or FEB)
I think there's precedent for successful integration, and the Rails to Trails Conservancy has had a few nice projects. I think it could be responsibly designed to be safe.

FEB feels like a ghost town on most days, not the most impactful place to stage a protest...

I'm looking forward to this development, I heard he may also develop the Spitzer property further west on a Detroit which would be welcome!

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
News, at least. The take-offs of Hard Rock Cafe or Margaritaville haven't seemed to have luck locally... (thinking of Alice Cooper's restaurant on 9th, Toby Keith, now Rascal Flatts...) I sensed Flats East Bank was attempting to be a little higher-end, so these cheesy theme franchises felt a little out-of-place to begin with. Looking forward to what's next...

If I'm not mistaken, this looks like this is a refinement to the Beer Garden concept aodk had previously shared. (Between Edwards & Ethel @ Detroit.) https://www.cleveland.com/lakewood/index.ssf/2018/05/new_lakewood_truck_park_bar_pr.html

Cleveland Parking Discussion
First I've heard complaints of gridlock. My office is in FEB and I haven't noticed the traffic problem here yet.

Cleveland Parking Discussion
Agree 100% that parking charge is hurting businesses. Cleveland suburbanites are not accustomed to paying to park to eat dinner. So many other nearby options (Tremont, Ohio City, Lakewood, etc) where you can use that money for an extra drink or dessert. ?
