Cleveland: University Circle (General): Development and News
Glad to see more development spill outward from UC. The money flowing through this new Hough-led trust seems weird to me. Is this a common financial arrangement?

Some news from the pastry world. https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2019/03/pastry-delivery-service-app-to-launch-in-university-circle.html What an oddly specific app idea. Don't get me wrong, I love me some pastries and coffee. What's next a TP emergency delivery app? Wait, that's actually a good idea.

Cleveland: Zoning Discussion
That latter pic would be more common if we had alleys in more areas. They are pretty uncommon through most of Cleveland.

Cleveland: Little Italy: Development and News
I agree, that looks great. Shifting the frontage to Cornell was the best option. It minimizes the visual impact of the apartment building, and allows them to renovate the houses on Murray Hill which is the cherry on top. Huge thumbs up.

Greater Cleveland RTA News & Discussion
I'm glad they are taking the rail car replacement seriously. What happened with that recommendation (last year?) that suggested they keep separate car types for the Red and Blue/Green lines?

Cleveland: Glenville: Development and News
Evidently yes. Those two were approved by the city planning commision after being denied by local design review. At least according to the CPC website.

That looks great.^ No mention of parking but none if it is visible, the way it's supposed to be. *Looking at you Stark.*

Cleveland: Local Media News & Discussion
Hasn't that been the playbook for newsrooms across the country? Vultures run the paper into the ground, extracting every penny on the way. Then sell the only tanglible assets like the PD building downtown. There is no getting out of the death spiral until the equity firm sells them.

Cleveland: Glenville: Development and News
Somewhat good news, demolition of the two buildings pictured above was denied by local design review. The rest were approved. 14500-14522 St. Clair Ave (2 story retail building spanning full block) http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/brd/detailDR.php?ID=3120&CASE=NE 2019-012 316 E 156th St http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/brd/detailDR.php?ID=3122&CASE=NE 2019-014 I say "somewhat" because (A) the city doesn't need local design review's approval to permit building demolition so the city could just approve it anyway, and (2) the Northeast Design Review group has proven toothless before. The beautiful building in Collinwood at 1018 E. 143rd was denied back in November, then approved the second go-round in February without any real explanation why. At best the denial just buys the buildings a couple months. There is practically no chance the owners will look for a developer to rehab them. http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/brd/detailDR.php?ID=3022&CASE=NE 2018-036

Cleveland: East Side Neighborhood Development
Rezoning planned for the area around Shaker Blvd and Buckeye on the border of Woodland and Kinsman. The rezoning isn't special in and of itself, but it might encourage more Opportunity Zone money to these areas (assuming it's a designated OZ zone?) by clarifying the type of development the city wants to see. The area is ripe for TOD since it's basically on top of the Blue/Green line. http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/mc/pdf/MC2591-Public-Notification.pdf

It would make a colossal difference if they wrapped the garage-level apartments south along E.4th, if only part way until the garage entrance.

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
The Eagle Avenue bridge closed 10+ years ago and is permanently in the up position. It'd probably have to be rebuilt if they wanted to reopen it (hopefully they do!). The other two are operational. edit: Pics! https://historicbridges.org/bridges/browser/photosviewer.php?bridgebrowser=ohio/eaglelift/&gallerynum=1&gallerysize=3

For posterity here are the high-res versions of the renderings. Baker makes a cameo in one of the shots. edit: The pics are a little bigger than I thought -- about 1.5-2MB each -- so let me know if it kills the page.
