Cleveland: Downtown: The Avenue District
^ Here's a snippet from the article:

Cleveland: Glenville: Development and News
I assume the concern is about the white fence in front of the suburban looking Fisher House, which is indeed pretty awful.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
Same owners as Toby Keith's? No wonder it never happened.

NYC: The High Line
Damn that looks good.

Lakewood: Development and News
Articles about suburban development are guaranteed to be missing addresses and any kind of rendering or site plan.

Cleveland: Rocket Arena (Gund Arena)
It should look great lit up at night showing off the details in the atrium. For now I just see a glass box.

Cleveland: Superior Arts District: Development and News
Nope. They owned the two buildings on the western edge of the block. They are partially occupied and in decent shape but would need a total overhaul for modern office space.

Right.

Cleveland: Superior Arts District: Development and News
No they aren't selling. GBX renovated the Daffy Dan building for their headquarters and is across the street from this block. And the other building next door (2125 Superior) is being renovated into apartments. You can see those renderings further up this page.

Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
*puts on tinfoil hat* The unrealistic estimates and conveniently timed jail investigations will subtly sway the public that new construction is the best way forward, even when the consultant report comes out and estimate comes in far higher than $800 million. And I expect the "renovation" estimate will have a bunch of questionable requirements, like relocating groups or other costly infrastructure changes that will drive up the renovation estimate making new construction more palatable. edit: Right on time, another article about the jail. This one full of subjective requirements that our jail cannot meet without extensive remodeling. How to build a better jail: Expert advice to transform Cuyahoga County's deplorable facility into a national model https://www.cleveland.com/expo/news/g66l-2019/01/e7bdb82b876680/how-to-build-a-better-jail-exp.html

Cleveland: Downtown: Justice Center Complex Replacement
I wouldn't be surprised if new construction ends up substantially more than that. edit: KJP estimated around 3 million square feet to replace the entire complex. That's going to be well over a billion dollar project.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
I wouldn't bet on this site being just townhomes, especially if RTA was serious about wanting TOD around this station. Hopefully we here about a selected development group soon.

Cleveland: Nautica Development
Nobody thinks this is happening any time soon, or ever. It's still interesting to talk about. What's the alternative?
-
Cleveland: Nautica Development
All the site plans we've seen are a complete mess, even the original from GPD. I don't understand why none of them retain the original street grid. Like the area needs pointless grass plazas between each building. I did like aesthetics of the AoDK buildings. I agree its a bit of Miami but it could be interesting if not cheaply done.
-
Cleveland: Nautica Development
They posted a video about 5 months ago on Vimeo of a completely different design and site plan. It's not clear any of these were actually commissioned by Jacobs.
-
Cleveland: Nautica Development
Well, the developer would be Jeff Jacobs that owns the surface lots and Nautica complex. It came out in 2016 they were working on the master plan. The article from Crains (2016) has rough massings from GPD Group. The AoDK designs are certainly better, so I was hoping those were the latest plans. https://www.crainscleveland.com/article/20160509/NEWS/160509849/nautica-plan-calls-for-residential-complexes edit: I just realized the AoDK renderings actually show two different plans. One has a single rise along the river. The other has two shorter buildings with a waterway between them. I like the two shorter buildings -- makes the area denser.

Cleveland: Nautica Development
I was perusing AoDK's site after @surfohio posted a link to their page in the Lakewood thread. How long have these been online? I don't see them anywhere upthread: http://aodkinc.com/portfolio/waterfront-development/

Cincinnati: Pendleton: Development and News
^^ I don't understand the insistence that large apartments mimic the narrow facades of the neighborhood. They can't mimic the design, so why try to mimic the massing? The design inevitably ends up a disjointed mess of materials and shapes that looks cheap. Maybe there are good examples of this in Cincy, but the ones in Cleveland that try this are awful.

Electric Cars
GM hasn't gained any momentum in the EV market. It will take them 8 years to hit 200k units. They just axed the Volt and the Bolt is on pace to sell less this year than last. Meanwhile Tesla sold more Model 3's in Q4 2018 than GM sold Bolts and Volts combined the last 2 years.

Jackson doesn't have a real shot to be head coach, does he?

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
I still dream of an at-grade Shoreway between East 9th and 3rd, then eliminating the Erieside/Alfred Lerner Way and flyover through the Warehouse District. It would shorten the walkway from the Mall and create buildable land in the WHD and along the Shoreway which you could then build right up-to.

Cleveland: Downtown: nuCLEus
Weston hasn't done sh!t with the building in the 6 years they've owned it. Perhaps they bought it hoping to piggyback off whatever happened with the rest of the block (this was before Stark bought the building and lot to the east), and have just decided to cash out?

Cleveland: Which Project Will Be Next and Why
The new restaurants on the FEB boardwalk are likely to start this winter. Besides that, none of the other major projects seem imminent. Maybe the office component of Nucleus or they risk losing Benesch. A couple new projects that have seen movement this year, but still a ways from breaking ground: * Union Trust Building (925 Euclid, downtown) -- Building sold to Millennia Companies over the summer, but no updates since then. * One Lakewood Place (14519 Detroit Ave, Lakewood) -- Lakewood hospital is being demolished right now, actual construction probably won't start until late next year. Developer Carnegie in pre-construction with the city. * Top of the Hill (Cedar Rd and Euclid Heights Blvd, Cleveland Heights) -- Developer Flaherty and Collins in pre-construction with the city. Construction probably won't start until late next year. * Market Square Plaza (West 25th and Lorain, Ohio City) -- Harbor Bay bought the Market Square Plaza shopping strip with intent to demolish it and build a large apartment and office buildings. * Edison Phase 2 (Breakwater Avenue and West 65th, Detroit Shoreway) -- 323 unit apartment building as phase 2 of NRP group's The Edison development Plus some smaller projects: * Circle North (East 105th and Ashbury Avenue, Glenville) -- 63 unit apartment building by Finch development under construction, should be complete next summer. * Wagner Awning Phase 2 (1633 Auburn Ave, Tremont) -- 69 unit apartment building on Scranton across from the Wagner Awning building * Meadowbrook and Lee Roads (Cleveland Heights) -- Snavely developer group picked by Cleveland Heights in July for 4 story apartment project, maybe 80-ish units. * Uptown Phase 3 (11601 Euclid Avenue, University Circle) -- 49 unit student housing by Bluewater Capital Partners across from Uptown Phase 2

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Is there a way to see the job numbers by subgroup? The Information category includes software development and I'm curious (and hopeful) if the other subgroups are dragging down the category.
