  1. Looks largely unchanged from the earlier plans. Overall it'll be a huge improvement over what's there now, but still a missed opportunity. Caters to traffic, too much asphalt, not enough development opportunities. Look at one of the traffic alternatives at Lakeside and W.6th. This shouldn't even be a consideration.
  2. I was just thinking long term. The Guards extension is through 2036 with 2 5 year club options after that. That's essentially 10 years before the conversation starts up again. That's why I wondered whether the Ballpark village is still moving forward as that makes it less likely they are going anywhere.
  3. I agree. He might be hoping the Cavs or Guardians move there in the future. The space is certainly big enough. Dan and Bedrock seem pretty committed to downtown. The Guards and new ownership though not as much. We'll see if anything comes of their rumored Ballpark village in the near term.
  4. I thought those were always going to be seasonal.
  5. Gordon Park is barely a mile east of Burke and there are plans to expand and update it. If we have to spend political capital somewhere I'd rather it go to realigning the Shoreway to make Gordon Park a better space than shutting Burke for more greenspace.
  6. The white material has a pretty interesting texture. I'd take more of this over the flat gray panels.
  7. The plan was for apartments on the upper floors. They've cut windows and an entry door into the rear of the building. Seems more than just cosmetic unless they don't have the funds to finish the units.
  8. I was just there last night! That place is pretty cool. Food and beer was good.
  9. There are good reasons to keep the bus lane open besides the FTA funds.
  10. That lot is next biggest eyesore downtown. Stark's website has a pic from this same vantage point, pre tower. https://starkenterprises.com/portfolio/west-9th-parking-lot/
  11. I'm more interested in whether it can be rerouted even further south. The suggested alignment is still adjacent to dense residential areas.
  12. A return of the one building trying to look like multiple building facade. I hoped we were past this type of design with a bunch of mixed colors and materials. I actually liked Geis's last design and just thought it needed tweaking.
  13. As he should be. Traffic impact from Browns game would be a massive issue for airport users. Passenger numbers at CLE are nearly all O&D now, so traffic into the airport is likely comparable or worse then the 2000 era.
  14. Yeah that one looks great. I wish it were used more often everywhere. Only one I can think of in Cleveland is the new Metrohealth hospital building.
  15. In case anybody forgets how much of a slog these projects can be, throwback to June 20th, 2022. Glad it's nearing the finish line.
  16. The Metroparks is already building Canal Basin park and Irish town bend right across the river from here. I don't see why Scranton Peninsula can't be all dense residential/retail. It will have the Towpath and a boardwalk surrounding it for connectivity to the river.
  17. Yeah it's all moot for one train in the middle night. I was assuming that much capital investment would also include increased frequency. Based on the maps above the NS line through what appears to be Salem and Alliance is double tracked to Canton. It looks like the Capitol runs part of this line now but turns north at Alliance. I would instead continue it west to Canton, bypassing the Youngstown area entirely. To your point the hard part would be finding a route north to Cleveland. No idea how feasible it would be. Just an interesting thought if the money and interest was there.
  18. The current Capitol Limited runs between Akron and Youngtown but touches neither. Would realigning it through Cleveland-Akron-Canton-Pittsburgh generate better ridership than what's there now?

Or at least dust off some variation of Geis' plan from over a decade ago (Jesus...) to build on city owned land on the Southwestern edge of Burke. https://www.cleveland.com/business/2012/08/geis_cos_float_plan_for_lakefr.html
  20. Mayday flexing that lense.
  21. Soon to be several more. It's difficult to grow trees in those 4x4 squares surrounded by impervious surface without a huge amount of tending.
  22. Except we're all paying for other people's decision to buy the product. I love the Browns too but my appetite for paying for their stadium is probably less than most.
  23. If the state provides funding for this but nothing for the lakefront plan...

Cleveland Charge moving from Wolstein Center to the Public Auditorium. A snippet from Crain's: https://www.crainscleveland.com/sports-recreation/cleveland-charge-leaving-wolstein-center-public-auditorium
  25. You think so? I was just there a couple days ago and thought it somehow looked worse than I was expecting, and I my expectations were already low. But I get this is so subjective.
