Site prep started for the 10 unit townhouse and rehab project at the corner of West 5th and Jefferson. Not much to see yet.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
A couple Tremont development updates while I'm at-it. The low rise buildings on the Ferry Cap & Screw site are completely gone. The only thing left is the main 5 story building. See here for discussion in March when WXZ bought the complex. What are they building at the corner? Looks like some kind if corner park or rec space? No idea. These pics are from University Rd looking northeast toward Scranton.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
Judging by the back-slapping over the proposed Irishtown Bend Park, they probably consider the new Metro campus a glorious win.

Cleveland: Tremont: Development and News
Thankfully the city appears insistent on this being properly integrated with West 25th. I have not seen the proposed site plan, but judging from the comments, I'd guess the initial plan had rear parking with entrance and office functions fronting the parking lot. http://planning.city.cleveland.oh.us/designreview/brd/detailDR.php?ID=2842&CASE=NW%202018-015

Cleveland: Random Development and News
Posts about The Quarter have just been going in the Ohio City thread. https://www.urbanohio.com/forum/index.php/topic,2492.0.html Its a huge project and in hindsight could have had its own thread.

Cleveland: Downtown: The Beacon
^ I bet visibility is probably biggest reason. Another would be safety. The crane is usually anchored to the building, and having the top too far above the working structure could make it unstable. edit: KJP beat me to it.

Maybe I got a little carried away there.

Cleveland: Clark–Fulton / Stockyards: Development and News
And the local pols will pat themselves on the back for replacing the once walled off Metro campus with a mile of green space, still separating it from the neighborhood. Only now figuratively walled off instead of literally. On West 25th no less, where the city and RTA should be looking for TOD, not parks.

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
The building sits in a pedestrian retail overlay, so the parking requirements are relatively low. There might be enough surface parking behind the building if he really wanted some kind of retail. The parcels are kind of mess at the corner. The areas in red just transferred to George's company. The areas bounded in blue are owned by the county/CMHA. The yellow area is actually city right-of-way, Conn Court, which is just being used as parking now. I suspect KJP is right, and it'll be donated, sold, or taken by ED. But instead I wish he'd put some kind of mixed use building there. I've made my objection before about parks being built on commercial corridors (and the proposed greenspace near Metro).

Cleveland: Scranton Peninsula: Development and News
The articles last year indicated the new owners were going to put together an updated master plan for the peninsula with S-A. That looks very ambitious. And very urban. Looks fantastic.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
Thats a huge deal. Landmark has shown they can get stuff done. Wouldn't surprise me if this got started before some of the other speculative projects around town.

Cleveland: Slavic Village: Development and News
No kidding. Getting money for redevelopment is impossible when you are surrounded by vacant land. The only path then is... more demolition. Which as we're seeing was the goal all along.

Christ some of those parcels are delinquent by tens of thousands of dollars. FYI, the PDF isn't searchable, so for reference, Schedule A starts page 27.

Cleveland: General Business & Economic News
Twinsburg founded, now Columbus-based, CoverMyMeds just announced a new headquarters with 1000 new employees in Columbus. If we're talking about missed opportunities and incompetent leadership, the question needs to be asked how the hell we can keep these companies growing locally.

Cleveland: Lakefront Development and News
If the highest and best use for Burke is a park, then it clearly isn't "prime real estate". And I agree its an awful location separated from downtown by a highway and freight rail. Any substantial development will require hundreds of millions in subsidies, everything from demolition to infrastructure, and TIFs, and tax abatement. Tearing down Burke feels similar to ripping out the streetcar lines. Once its gone, its gone for good. Very shortsighted.

Cleveland: Downtown & Vicinity Residences Discussion
The construction boom has certainly hit its stride. Some of the largest projects to date are finally starting up. Though I'd like to see some new projects get announced to fill the pipeline for the coming years.

Lakewood: Development and News
^ Nice. Put the park on the northern part of the site and the residential building on Madison and it would be perfect.
