  1. I'm a little late to this I think: The house was constructed last year in Little Italy, designed by Robert Maschke dubbed "Little_BIG". It won a Merit Award from the AIA a couple months ago. I stumbled across this article today from January with tons of pictures. Very impressive detailing. http://www.homedsgn.com/2017/01/28/little-big-house-in-cleveland/ Here are a couple exterior shots. The article has plenty of interior and more more exterior shots. View from the street showing the front house ("Little"): View from the middle, behind the front house, showing the rear house ("BIG"):

An update to the above, it appears stage 3 is under active construction. They've been clearing the path around Tremont the last couple weeks. I saw equipment working around Clark Field near the animal rescue shaping the land.
  3. There was an article on cleveland.com about the garage renovations. In it there was a blurb about the walkway saying it would be done this summer. edit: Here it is. http://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga-county/index.ssf/2017/02/cuyahoga_county_parking_garage_needs_additional_1_million-plus_to_fix_crumbling_concrete_needs.html
  4. They are building an underground walkway connecting the garage behind the courthouse to the Hilton.
  5. Yeah and the 15,000+ people he employs in downtown Detroit. Hard not to be a little envious.

And pick #17 Shump and #53 Liggins.
  7. I know I'm in the minority, but I'd much rather see dense development built on 25th than lightly used greenspace. There is room for apartments on the sidewalk and green terraces behind, accessible from a rebuilt Riverbed Rd. I look at the plans and just see a huge disconnect between the Market Garden area and Detroit.
  8. Hyland expanding their headquarters in Westlake: http://news.onbase.com/hyland-to-expand-global-headquarters/
  9. I was disappointed too to see them drop the brick. Kenilworth and Scranton will become a very visible corner as development moves north toward the peninsula. It would have looked great. But at least this is a sign the project is still moving forward.
  10. And speaking of fiber cement board, the Lincoln condo building on Scranton is going before design review again. The project was supposedly delayed last fall because of construction costs. The developers replaced the brick facade with fiber cement. edit: removed commentary OLD: NEW: OLD: NEW:
  11. This one is news to me since it hasn't been posted online for design review or variances. A cluster of 4 townhomes at 2209 Professor Avenue in the small gravel lot next to Press (soon to become High & Dry). Finally something that isn't fiber cement board. http://www.zillow.com/b/2209-Professor-Ave-3-Cleveland-OH/41.482063,-81.686691_ll/
  12. You might have to resize them. The max size per pic is 1.2MB. Glad to see it's under construction. It seems a handful of the units are posted for sale. Here are the renderings, since I don't remember if they were ever posted: http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/3188-Van-Aken-Blvd-Shaker-Heights-OH-44120/2097683537_zpid/

I think whatever progress we've seen in the city is despite the mayor and council, not because of them.
  14. There are bus stops along Superior within the square. Buses just passing through need to be able to get around other buses stopped for passengers.

The stretch is comprised mostly of unbuildable land, like the Zone recreation park and bridge over the Red Line. Why pick that part of Lorain of all places to re-zone?
  16. The building is being renovated. The parking lot will be the space on the right. The trees were already removed.
  17. I see FCE still owns the parking lot across the street along West 3rd. The industrial flats east of Columbus road is so ridiculously underutilized. Any positive movement at this point is welcome.

A minor update on stage 3 of the towpath connecting Steelyard to the north end of Tremont. The status on the web site was just updated. Until a couple weeks ago the page said something about final design/engineering and site acquisition. I've been chomping at the bit to see this start, so I'm happy to see any signs of progress besides the NEORSD work being done along Mary Street (near 4th and 490). http://canalwaypartners.com/towpath-trail/stage-3/
  19. Impressive indeed. And don't forget the original catalytic tax credit was planned to be awarded every two years. Then somebody (air quotes) lobbied to award another project a year early in 2015 after the Music Hall won in 2014.
  20. You guys remember this proposal from a couple years ago? Same architects too. http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,27551.msg697409.html#msg697409
  21. Somebody complain about blocking the view of the rock hall?
  22. Congrats on the opening. I like the woodworking.
  23. The site plan for the Shaker Cycle building and rear parcel at West 5th and Jefferson was posted to Zillow. It shows a small mixed-use building at the corner with 10 town homes behind it. Aerial: http://photos.zillowstatic.com/p_f/ISe0939dje3nrq1000000000.jpg Site plan: http://photos.zillowstatic.com/p_f/ISatglpzhmmpjq1000000000.jpg Town home listing: http://www.zillow.com/homedetails/2387-W-5-H-H-Cleveland-OH-44113/2096153043_zpid/ I am a little surprised. A 3-4 story condo building with underground parking would have fit perfectly here. I don't know if there was push-back from the neighbors but the rumblings when the building sold was for a larger apartment building.
  24. The article says Daffy Dans will stay on the ground floor. With a tenant staying in the building I wonder how extensive the rehab will be. Historic renovations are often total gut jobs - new electrical, hvac, elevators, windows, etc.
